I really enjoyed the topic of women riders. You really hit the nail on the head when you pointed out that the hobby isn't really marketed to them. I started riding a year ago and I was shocked about how easy it was to get help and advice on how I should go about it. Your channel really helped as well. When my wife decided she wanted to backpack, It was shocking about how difficult it was to find quality budget gear for women. Despite the rough start tho, we are looking to get her an R3 or equivlent bike, so she can start riding on her own. Also another note, women face much more ridicule than men for wanting to ride. My mother and a select few relatives grilled me and called me stupid for getting a bike, but that was nothing to heat i got when they discovered i was letting her ride with me. It was so bad to the point that she doesn't want anyone to know she is getting a bike as she is naturally anxious and shy person, and doesn't handle peer pressure or ridicule well. Its also infuriating that somehow no realises how sexist it is to have this veiw. My wife is not some porcelain doll to be bubble wrapped and shielded all of her life. She is a capable adult human being that should be allowed to enjoy whatever she choses. She failed her first MSF course simply because the trainers could not be bothered to actually teach, they just assumed that if they had to start condescendingly explaining thing to a girl that they were doing her a favor by letting her fail, because quote "she doesn't belong on a bike if she can't keep pace with the class".

This lane filtering debate, it's the same on our local Facebook group. People have no understanding of basic statistics or physics, so they think that riding 10 mph through standing traffic is somehow fatally dangerous. What's particularly galling is that these are the same riders who don't take any precautions when they see a left-turner! They feel like riding 40 years (only sunny weekends, never any dense traffic) makes them the experts on motorcycling, and they couldn't care less about those of us who commute.

Being 62 and married for 39 years, when we get a new women rider in our club, we not only welcome then, we have a subsection of the club just for them(Ladies of Harley) , and no one hit on them. but hen again, were all old riders.

Great video, very engaging perspective on many issues here, also can't believe there is an advantage to living in the UK, we can sort of lane split legally, referred to as filtering .... That said for a large chunk of the year it's wet, cold and the days are short!

25:00 You hit the main point squid, but something else to notice, when he hits the brakes the revs also go up. Im super nerdy about bike set up(suspension and ergo's etc) and to me its a clear sign that the brake lever was angled too high, so he has to twist his wrist back to get on the brake, so he is accelerating as well. Far less of a contributing factor than not paying attention and not taking the exit path, but I would say that it both a.) indicates a lack of experience or pratice, because he didnt reflexively get well off the gas to brake, and b.) that the bike was not set up right for him, and for 28 seconds with an allen key or socket he could have been safer and more comfortable.

Though I'm sure you'd want nothing to do with most companies that approach you, an app that hooks you up with a lawyer and helps you beat traffic tickets anywhere in the country seems right up your alley!

While I do not disagree with your idea of a Publicly owned safe stunting area, in reality as we all know it's all fun & games until someone gets hurt, then it's hilarious..................until the lawyers show up. You would have to charge a fee, get wavers signed and some kind of event insurance to cover everyone....it's doable, but would the riders be willing to pay for it? As to on the street, no sir, that is not the place to do that silliness. If the only one you were endangering was yourself, that's one thing, but you can not control who else might come into the scene and now your risking them as well. Track days is where one should ride like that if one really must. I try to tell new riders that we all are ambassadors of our sport and how we act in public reflects on all of us as a group.
