Well it's good to see you in Yorkshire with wall to wall sunshine and blue skies and views up over Marsden Moor and down the valley. The tunnel video was good. You did OK. Huddersfield narrow canal does have leaky locks and it should be called Huddersfield SHALLOW canal. Hard work for a single boater, but it is all very interesting. Pity about your washing machine but you quickly sourced a replacement. We need a vlog now called Will Will wash washing? Have fun and enjoy Yorkshire.
Ha ha great title. Huddersfield shallow or will will wash washing. Great stuff Harry. Lovely area very stressful boating. Loads of running around but I did it. I need a sit down watching it. Cheers
That tunnel was amazing. I'm glad I've done it. I can tick it off my list of amazing canal structures. The Anderton boat lift and the Llangollen aqueduct were the others. I've had a great adventure so far. Have a great evening.
Cheers Will diggel is one nice place if you ever get another bike will take it over the tops there Brilliant place to open them up .the moors are mostly Pete it burns well in summer they set it on fire control burning av bin in Bournemouth 30 yrs now Iyou forget how stunning it is round that part of the country Nice one Will Big up tiller man 🙂🔧🦢✌️
Yeah I always thought the north was crap and going south was warmer and nicer but I've found it the opposite. It's a very popular place to buy now. Take care lee
Glad your feeling better Will. Hey, be sure to wear a mask if you are around crowds of people. Try to stay safe from this nasty Covid business. Your braver than I going into that tunnel. I am extremely claustrophobic and would have probably gone berserk before I got to the end. Ugggg Nice video. Take care.
Oh dear that's not good having a fear of small spaces. My boat small inside I go into alot of small tunnels and locks. No Sandy this isn't the life for you. The open fields is better for you. I felt abit nervous going through myself. Have a great day.
Just subscribed mate, love your channel. hello from Oklahoma, Ive been so enamored with the canals of England for years and have never seen them in person, YET! Thanks for the videos...
It's a big part of our industrial heritage. I love the lifestyle. I'm currently cruising the rivers now. That's my favourite but not in winter. Very dangerous..Thanks for watching and commenting. Welcome aboard..
@@NarrowboatWill ok. thanks for the reply, u mentioned winter, well the weather is another thing im enamored with in England. I monitor it online. and it must be heaven on earth in the summer there, looks like Sheffield hardly breaks 70 degrees F in summer, that is for me for sure!
Ahhh thankyou Sally I'm feeling normal again. It does get very tight in there I wouldn't want to break down. When I looked behind it was just pitch black. Scary. Take care
That is one dark scary tunnel, i would have to sit inside the boat 😂 I walked passed Wills Way today but i didnt like to knock incase you were busy. I wont say where you are 🤐 Cheers. Janice xxx
Well, that requires about 30 coffees to buy, rippers! Good decision to replace the old spinner, some glue might repair it temporarely, but in the end it might start leaking again. In my first appartement (almost narrowboat size) I also bought one of those camping washing machines, I remember my laundry got all knotted up, because it only spun in one direction - ugh! I am in a better place now. Cheers, Will!
This machine goes both ways when it's washing. The other washer I left at a CRT station for spares. Perhaps somebody could use it or fix it. I could've plastic welded it but I couldn't risk having a leak Umberto. Have a great day buddy.
Your vlogs are getting better each time. Every time I start one of your videos I'm ready for a laugh and some interesting information. That tunnel looked wild. I noticed you passed the 4K subs mark. Congratulations. Were you a tradesmen, a mechanic of some kind before your narrowboat career? That's my question for this time. You even got this American saying "crack on" , great job there Will
Yes I was a motorbike mechanic and safety tester for many years. That doesn't mean I'm a good diesel mechanic ha ha. I love engines. Have yourself a great and blessed day.
Blimey. Hello Mr London. I didn't have time to set things up. It was right come on let's go. I was expecting to wait 2 weeks. Ticks my list. Not doing it again. Ha ha Cheers buddy.
Great Vlog Will, that’s a tunnel and a half that one. Hope your feeling better and the multi coffees we bought did some good somewhere along the way. 👍🏼
The money from coffees bought that washer. Bloody amazing. I could've try to fix it but it may have leaked again. You have lovely day Ripper. Thanks for those coffees.
great vlog , is'nt it lovely hearing the birds this time of year ? ,it looked lovely with the countryside around you , we're quite lucky too , we've got hills & countryside around us , as we live in chesterfield ,so we're not far away from bakewell & castleton . glad to see you're looking better .
It was a stunning day and fantastic area. The stress of low water or getting stuck can make me miss that but I stopped to look and take in the scenery Lori. Have a lovely day
Shame you didn’t get much of the tunnel but look assume. There is some lovely scenery but thing all those locks are a bit much. Maybe better when your of this canal lol glad your feeling better. See you in the next one.
Yeah it was a rush for me to get the boat ready and go through after they told me the slot was cancelled so I put everything back up again then they let me through an hour later. Great experience though Caroline. I'm feeling tip top again thanks. Have a great evening.
What did mum have ready for tea ? I think 3.5 miles is 13/16th's of a kilo, not sure though, maybe ask Trev. I'm gonna buy Trevs book, just as soon as ive had me tea. Sausages by the way. Anyway, Cheers Will thanks for the V-log, filthy fums up ehh !
Loved the video Will can you tell me the polish you used on your brass please xxx can’t find the video you showed us many thanks x glad you are feeling better x
Its amazing that they were able to build this with the tools that were available back then. And if that wasnt enough having to push themselves through it with just their legs is unimaginable . Those were some tough folks
I've been through with Trevor before Will. Went through once and we were bouncing off the sides till Trevor took over( wont say who's boat it was) Quite scary, had both my water wings blown up. Theres a real good fish and chip shop in Diggle. Some lovely scenery around there. Water problems, and a new washing machine, that'll keep you entertained for a while. Thanks Will, and do take care, hope we dont hear that Trevor died of the man flu.
It's a great experience. Other boaters turned around and couldn't face it. I had a good common sense chat with Trev about my man flu and we both agreed it would be ok for us to go ahead. He said to me fear and worry are more harmful than any virus. He's a wise man. Over the past 2 years I've seen people that I thought were intelligent well grounded fall apart because they might get the lurgy. They told us 1 jab then 2 jabs then 3 jabs now 4. Now they've releast a 1000 page document from the side effects from the vaccine itself. 8 million people with terrible side effects from the vaccine which we were told was safe. My sister was very ill for months after hers. Let's get back to common sense logic. I don't watch any news I don't know what's going off around the world just like when the canals were built. Have a lovely day young Phillip. Is your missus back yet?
Hi Wll, if you say your owd ' washing machine still works, could you not repair the drum with a fibre glass kit ? The drum looks like plastic so possibly you could seal it, maybe both sides. Just a thought because I've never seen one. Cheer Cocker. 👍
I thought about that and plastic welding but if all that didn't work I would be in the same boat. So to speak. I had to resolve it quickly you know. Being so close to Argos and my van as well. I do enjoy fixing stuff. Have a great day.
Oh dear. I replaced my washing machine after the spin motor went on a permanent go-slow. You could have had mine or vice versa to make up a working machine. Both ended up at the tip. Such is life. Good machines, though.
I left mine at Aspley basin Huddersfield in the CRT office if you need spares. Hate throwing good parts away. Can't store it either. Narrowboat life makes me keep what's important and get rid of what I don't need. Enjoy the sunshine Felix
I can't believe I didn't hit anything. At one point the tunnel was inches from scrapping all down the side. Great experience Steve. You take care buddy.
Morning Will On Narrowboat James built he uses dog pins that effectively screw into the ground. More effective than bashing a pin in me thinks. Stop dropping washing machines.
Glad you're feeling better. This stretch of the network seems to be problematic for you, but that tunnel looks like an awesome experience. Regarding your van, do you get any trouble with undesirables trying to break in or vandalise it?
This whole journey was so I could do this tunnel. My van has been in some right dodgy areas. There's nothing of real value in it. I try to find busy places to park it. I'm more concerned about the legal thieves...Like clampers and ticket police. Ha ha cheers buddy
That is what the extra tubes of JB-WELD are for that you are supposed to have in your junk BOX. It will fix anything and it does not cost 150.00 Get some it will save you money.
If your narrowboat has a mass of around 20,000 kg and it takes 1hr and 40 minutes to travel through the tunnel then the length of the tunnel would be 5,230,368 millimeters. This is approximately 3.25 miles. If however the tunnel is 5000 yards long then it would be 4,572,000 millimeters. According to the laws of physics if the boat was microscopically small and weighed almost nothing it would travel at the speed of light making the tunnel 17,987,548 mm but you would only need this info if you were an Astrophysicist.
That info would've been handy. I could of told Trevor and in turn he would tell his mum she would've told the bingo hall. Thus the whole area would of been enlightened. Abit late now.....
A bloke would hold a big metal spiked chisel about four foot long and a bloke behind would hit it with a massive hammer. After each blow the holder would turn the bar a quarter turn. The ring off the spike hitting the rock face was so loud that the holder would eventually go deaf. It is where the term "Stone deaf" came from"
Wow what great info. We always hear about the designers but very little about the real workers. What a hard life they had. Bless um. I always think about those people. Cheers buddy
