This is a stupid concept in and of itself since deflecting blaster bolts would be a completely separate skill from dueling somebody else with a lightsaber. Every jedi would have a "form" for dealing with other Jedi and a "form" for dealing with conventional weapons. Blasters are the standard weapon of the setting and the idea that any formally trained Jedi or Sith could achieve significant status with a weakness to them is laughably moronic.
While true most Jedi also know form 1 which is a general form that is viable to deflect blasters. Not anywhere on par with the defensive style Obiwan uses or countering style Anakin uses but still useful

That line would basically seem meaningless without the storytelling of the Prequels. With the prequels in mind, the turning point of Revenge of the Sith is certainly on par with the emotional factor.

Well those were the ones shown on the Togruta’s colony world, and they seem to have taken a more peaceful and artistic approach to their culture. The ones seen here on Shili though, live a hunter-gatherer lifestyle, with a deep connection to the world around them.

The show retcons Ahsokas own growth from the original clone wars movie. She starts off skilled by niave and learns/gets stronger over the series. This just makes her amazing from the get go and also recons Plo Koo finding and training her. But Filoni is known to retcon everything even his own stories.

this is my issue with filoni... when yaddle heard dooku was working with a sith lord (the last on alive) she did not leave to tell the council who would of likely either A) captured dooku and he would of spilled the beans out of guilt at this point that the sith lord if palpatine oooooor B) the council would choose to watch that building to see if its ever used by them again so they can set up a trap and try to capture/kill sidious. but filoni's writing has always been very dodgy and i get into many arguments with star wars fans over it because they LOVE clone wars and thus filoni can do no wrong, except they forget lucas himself and various others wrote it too and kept filoni's focus and writing in line. we know this because the quality drop between clone wars and rebels (rebels a show he had full controll over) was night and day now he was given all the funding, time and control he wanted. filoni, the man who ADDED TIME TRAVEL INTO STAR WARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! never forget, and never forgive that

there's a saying that's been going around recently "Dave Filoni was Disney Star Wars before Disney Star Wars" and in hindsight I think there's a lot of truth to it. back in season one of Star Wars the Clone Wars she disobeyed direct orders twice, the first time a Separatist leader got away, the second time she got her whole squadron killed and a venator Star Destroyer destroyed and only got a stern talking to when her punishment should've been a court martial and expulsion from the Jedi Order.
My dad has been a starwars fan since 1979 and when he saw this show. He actually fell asleep! That speaks volumes if someone who has a been a fan of star wars for this long falls asleep after watching an episode of this show.

4:55 Well here’s the thing. The common people of the galaxy don’t often know about the specifics of the Jedi, or the force. Often viewing it simply as magic that some beings can use. So I can understand them not using the correct terminology, as they probably only have a vague understanding of what the force is, and are only familiar with it from the force using Jedi.
I couldn't sit through the first Ahsoka episode and skipped it. The one with Anakin training her was cool but it felt so dragged out. And on the last one I thought there'd be a fight but no. They made her so OP that in her it won't make sense why she's struggling against any opoonent

These are shorts that were definitely unnecessary but I appreciate them because as you said, they’re “tying up loose ends.” And at least they’re showing a purpose towards some well written characters. Unlike everything else that is so shoehorned with the most unnecessary characters and bad quality.

I'm a firm believer that there is no such thing as a bad story, only bad execution. Tales of the Jedi could've been a decent show, but the way it was executed caused it to suffer greatly. Now, I am in no way a writer, but I can think of a few changes that would've greatly improved the series. For starters, make the episodes longer. Ten minutes per episode is hardly enough time to tell a serious story of substance, let alone a Star Wars story. With more time the writers would have more room to breathe and not have to rush and make plot contrivances just to meet the run-time. Secondly, have the series focus on one character. In this case, have the story focus on Count Dooku and leave out Ahsoka entirely. I like Ahsoka and all, but God knows we've had more than enough shows where Filoni has inserted his OC. Seeing parts of Star Wars history we never got to see is what seemed to attract people to the series in the first place, and the backstory of Count Dooku- fallen Jedi and leader/founder of the Separatist Movement- sounds a lot more interesting than snippets from the Ahsoka novel. The third changes I'd make would be to the episodes themselves. The goal of the series was to show Count Dooku's disillusionment with the Jedi and Republic and why he'd side with Sidious in the first place, but what we got doesn't really seem to do the concept justice. Here's how I'd do it: - Episode one should take place back when Dooku was a padawan under Master Yoda. Bright eyed, naive, and fully on board with the idea that the Jedi and Republic are a force for good in the galaxy. - Episode two would go like it did in the show, but with a few tweaks. Dooku and Qui-gon are sent the the planet of a Republic senator undergoing an insurrection to rescue the senator's son and heir from the insurgency. Leaving the lavish planetary capital the Jedi duo go out into the territory claimed by the insurgents, the poorer sections of the world where a large portion of the population live. Soon enough the two meet up with the insurgent leader who explains the they are rebelling to overthrow the corrupt senator who is hoarding the planet's wealth for himself and his sycophants while leaving the people to exist in squalor. Dooku, shocked by this revelation, assures the leader that he will bring this matter up with the Senate in exchange for the senator's son's release. The insurgents agree, and just as Dooku and Qui-gon leave with their rescued hostage, the Senator's private militia levels the town much to the jedi's horror. Upon his return to Coruscant Dooku is frustrated that the Senate and Council have seemingly buried this incident and no change is made. This plants the seeds of contempt for Dooku. - Episode three can honestly remain unchanged. Aside from expanding on Dooku's interest in the fact there are a growing number of factions within the Republic that are beginning to revolt against Republic corruption and how the Jedi are becoming complicit in maintaining this corrupt order, it can stay as is. - Episode four starts off the same it did. Dooku and Qui-gon have their final chat before Qui-gon sets off to attend to the crisis on Naboo. We cut to after Qui-gon's death, Dooku is staring at the tree in the Temple yard in mourning for his apprentice when he receives an unexpected message: he has been summoned by the newly elected Chancellor Palpatine to meet with him. Dooku arrives at Palpatine's private quarters and there Palpatine expresses his regret at Qui-gon's death, how he and his world were ever in his debt and how he wanted to meet the master of such a noble warrior, a martyr for the ideals of the Republic. Involuntarily Dooku scoffs at this last statement, prompting Palpatine to inquire as to why. What follows is a conversation where Dooku begins to air his grievances with the Republic and Jedi while Palpatine sits and nods sympathetically, agreeing with all Dooku's points, all the while slowly guiding the conversation towards the philosophy of the Jedi and the Sith. This is where Palpatine begins to clue Dooku in on his true identity as Sidious, and begins to sway Dooku to his side, that together the two of them could bring true change to the galaxy if they could but make the necessary sacrifices... all for the greater good, of course. - Episode five takes place in the waning days of the Clone Wars and would take inspiration from an EU novel where on a mission Yoda and Dooku meet face-to-face for the first time in years. Yoda, despite knowing all the evils Dooku and his Separatists have done, still believes his student can be saved and can put a stop to this madness. At first, it appears that Dooku is swayed but in the end it is revealed that Dooku is too far gone and has fully embraced the Dark Side, so much so whatever idealism he once held has been corrupted. Yoda barely escapes the encounter, his belief in redemption from the Dark Side shattered which would explain why he was so adamant on Luke killing Vader and the Emperor in the OT. Of course this is just MY take. There are probably a hundred better ways to rewrite this series. Regardless the fact they squandered a perfect opportunity for storytelling frustrates me to no end.
I don't really care about Dooku, especially seeing him younger and shit (I mean I didn't care about Darth Vader before he was a villain either), but your ideas are far more interesting than this show they spat out. They should have made Dooku the main character and show how he turned to the dark side. I really like your take on the episode where him and qui-gon go to some bumfuck village to rescue the senator's son.

Star wars would have been better as a whole if Ashoka had died instead of being expelled from the temple in TCW. Which is pretty much what Lucas initially recommended to Filoni.

Glad I am not the only one that can't stand Ahsoka anymore. She was great as a side character, but they made season 7 the Ahsoka show and I hated it. Still can't believe we got a Bad Batch pilot and those stupid twins instead of two essential, excellent arcs: Crystal Crisis and Dark Disciple.
