My favorite Teal'c moment will always be, "Are you performing some kind of science experiment O'Neil?" While looking in the fridge. I lost it, and still do every time!
Honestly, I still love 90s Star Trek but the Stargate franchise was the absolute pinnacle of 90s-early 2000s sci-fi for me. Coming back to SG1 is shocking after the relentless grimderp being produced today. So refreshing to see a loveable cast of heroes who get on with each other and don't do terrible things just to be like GoT. And none of today's incredibly obvious politics are jammed into it, even though SG1 actually does deal with politics (and is often incredibly strong when doing so).
What this shows me is that Teal'c is about the best person out there. He's good, selfless, considerate of others, peaceful until provoked until protecting others, a good listener, kind, rather a boy scout.

It should be noted that for Teacl's it's not just random goodness practiced for its own sake. He's is a complicated and interesting character. Teal'c hurt people, a lot of people, and he knows that. At first, he did it enthusiastically, eager to show loyalty and earn favor from his god, and later, begrudgingly to maintain a position from which he could at least stop it from being worse - it was the best he could make of a bad situation, and still something he feels guilty for. Teal'c demands the absolute best he can be and give because he feels he owes a debt to the world for his past, and not one he can ever repay, and because he abhors the idea of a world that's ever cruel enough to force anyone into the position he was in (or that of his victims). He told Tomin as much in Ark of Truth.
@@Catamount1412 Thanks, you pointed this out before I did. Teal'c owns the fact that he is a war criminal. He never hides or runs from it, yet he does his best to move on.
That is the key to being a good man. Peaceful, and diplomatic, until it is obvious that failure to act would result in harm to others, then strong enough to intervene to prevent that harm, even at the expense of yourself. It's characters like Teal'c and Picard from TNG that I grew up with and, along with my father, looked up to. We need more of that these days. Examples of how men SHOULD behave, rather than simply being told how men shouldn't behave.
It just dawned on me how human Teal'c's reaction to noticing signs of domestic abuse is. In Teal'c's own words, when there is a marital disagreement between Jaffa, "a weapon is required."
In my culture it would be appropriate to kill you. That's a joke right? That's a gotta be a joke? Few seasons later a Tokra insults a Jaffa wife. Jaffa killed the Tokra. I want kidding Oniell. I was just being polite not harming you.
I love the emotion tealc has when the kid shows him he put the apophis symbol on his board. Taking that symbol of oppression and slavery and turning it into a symbol for heroism and strength.
I love that there's no hesitation, and he just accepts the symbol and gesture as how the kid sees it as and is honoured. Not bothered by the kid's misinterpretation due to not knowing the context of its history.
Christa's abusive boyfriend is a total tool, but he has the deluded self-confidence of a god. Imagine looking at Teal'c and telling him to check himself!
I know what you mean, you look at someone who is a good foot taller than you, broader than you, is heavily muscled and have been told practices ancient martial arts (ancient martial arts generally being more dangerous than modern ones because they were meant to kill) and if your first thought is “I can take this Goliath of a man” then you really need to have a word with yourself

Some guys are just that delusional for real. Some guys never get challenged/checked on their attitude and they think they're the baddest person in the world. My friend got a full ride scholarship for football to a small college and is 6'3" but it always amazed me how many guys would challenge him for no reason. One guy claimed he was an mma fighter and tried to tackle my friend during a house party. My friend had to outweigh him by a good 80 lbs but this guy talked to him like he could kill him. End result was the dumbass dude getting tossed outside and my friend warning him next time he'll actually be serious. So that guy threating Teal'c is actually not to far fetched lol.
I don't think Jaffa are actually superhuman without their symbiotes. It was a point that Teal'c was frustrated that he had to train to maintain his body. Still built like a fucking tank though.
I've always wanted someone to make a compilation of clips of all the early episodes where they have to cover his emblem in some way. I'd call it "The Many Hats of Teal'c"

Teal'c understands what living in fear does to people. He's lived his entire life under slavery and oppression, and he's been the one dishing out that oppression on behalf of his own masters many times. He understands that you don't need to be strong or brave or anything else to deserve freedom. And he chooses to help people not because they've somehow shown themselves worthy of it, but as his responsibility as someone with the power to do good, and as his atonement for his past crimes.
That _was_ amazing, he managed to knock someone out with an avacado. I mean, I could see an apple maybe since they have some firmness to them but I cant imagine an avacado having the same impact regardless of force thrown.

I grew up on this street where this was all filmed ,I was around 5-6 years old when it was being filmed and I still remember seeing Teal'c doing the egg throw scene when I was out playing at the park, it was so cool. :)
I don't think so. Any public reveal of the Stargate program is going to end up with that symbol much more prominently associated with Teal'c, the heroic member of SG-1 who's personally saved the earth on multiple occasions, than with the long dead false god Apophis.
Fun fact: Erica Durance played Lois in Smallville and in one episode, Clark pulls the same trick as Teal'c with the accurate throw on the head to stop a criminal.
The guy who plays her terrible boyfriend was also in an episode of Smallville. He and Lois Lane go on a date, but then he turns out to be a crazy murderer. So he's played her awful love interest twice.
@@hearmeroar407 Seriously. It's the best sci fi ever. Actually, even if the cast just do a podcast kinda thing today talking, it would be a dream come true, like a stargate podcast where the cast just discuss what's happening on the real world, acting their roles.

She's so young in this I didn't even realize that was Erica Durance from Saving hope. Erica is the perfect example of how some women become more beautiful with age.

This is a trip down memory lane. Also I don't know how I haven't noticed before, that Krista's boyfriend Doug was played by the same dude (Derek Hamilton) who played the main villain (Razor) just a year later in the 2005 NFS Most Wanted.

A warrior without a fight is lost. All men must choose what they fight for. This is the way. A man does not foster life, he simply provides/enables it. There is purpose/responsibility and vice versa in it. Become responsible for anything, especially yourself. Grow it and grow yourself vice versa.
Everyone has bad days and messes up, does things and says things they regret, but how you normally behave at the worst of times demonstrates your true character.

If this show took place today (2020), Teal'c would not have to hide his forehead. There are enough folks in Brooklyn, Portland, Austin or elsewhere with visible body art, such that people don't even react any more.

Not many Mozambicans in a white Vancouver 'hood. We have more of them here in Brazil because we speak Portuguese as most of them (they with a Portugal-like accent). But yeah, T'ealc is by no way a Mozambican name, even in their many native languages. Samora or Mondlane would be.
