Clip from Stargate SG1's season 4 episode 14 "The Serpents Venom" where Heru'ur meets Apophis for a "peaceful" meeting but doesn't realise Apophis took an entire fleet with him.
Uploaded because it is one of Elliot's favourite scenes and he now lives in Hartlepool and doesn't have regular access to my DVD collection.
If you want to see the whole episode buy Stargate SG1 season 4 on DVD today! (or wait till it is repeated).
I DO NOT OWN THIS CLIP. MGM/SONY DO. NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT IS INTENDED. IF I HAVE COPYRIGHT INFRINGED THIS I AM SORRY AND WILL TAKE OFF ON REQUEST. I DON'T ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT INFRINGEMENT MEANS LOL.

So nice when an episode introduces an ability for the bad guys that is mysteriously dropped without explanation despite it being a game changer. Cloaking a big ship never happens again until Atlantis or S10 even though S4 established Apophis / Sokar pulling it off right here in S4.

The Goa'uld don't share technology with each other so the technology and/or techniques required to construct a cloaking device capable of hiding a Ha'tak was lost after the death of Apophis in 2001, as no further Ha'taks were ever equipped with a cloak.

I'm mostly disappointed in Heru'ur compared to other System Lords. He's said to be so powerful and feared by many but one time he got a knife stuck through his hand by O'Neill and this time he got killed without fighting back. Sokar was a dud too but at least he managed to scared off the Tauri to return him the dead body of Apophis.

I think he's a better villain that he didn't fight back here. He knew he was done. He wasn't happy about it, but he accepted it. it was a shame they decided to kill off Apophis half way into the shows run. other Goa'uld were great too but Apophis was there from the beginning writing him out was like losing a main character. they could still have done things with him. just imagine having him during the Anubis story line. now SG-1 suffers a bit from the 'big bad guy' followed by a 'bigger bag guy' followed by the 'BIGGEST BAD GUY' cliche.

@henkman00
@henkman00 18 дней назад
Stargate had an issue with the “bigger bad guy” cliche. Defeat Apophis and Anubis takes his place, defeat him and the Ori show up. It would however have been interesting to see how Apophis would have dealt with the competition instead of being replaced by them. Maybe he would side with SG-1 against a common enemy, maybe he would be forced to serve Anubis. Maybe he has a redemption arc. I feel they could have done more with him. (Especially his connection to Teal’c and his people) but, they likely didn’t realize they would get 5 more seasons, would they have killed him off if they knew?
@DKNguyen3.1415
@DKNguyen3.1415 18 дней назад
@@henkman00 I don't think it's a loss to not see how Apophis side up against a common enemy because we already see Ba'al do that. Redemption arcs don't fit the Gou'uld at all because if it was possible there wouldn't be a need for the Tokra. Apophis holds the unique position of being a standard for all Gou'uld that we have never met. If you start having things like redemption arcs it kind of kills the whole thing. He remains comically egomaniacal almost the entire way through and gets killed off. There's no other Gou'uld in the series like that. I think Heru'ur got the short end of the stick if anything. Having a knife personally thrown through his hand must have opened the way for interesting future interactions.

One thing that has always gotten to me is why would Sokar's soldiers be so loyal to Apophis after the death of their boss, Sokar? Unless Apophis tricked them into believing that he killed Sokar and the Jaffa have a rule that they follow a system lord that manages to kill their overlord. Probably because with the death of their overlord, they didn't have anyone else to fill Sokar's shoes and since Apophis was already a very polarizing figure in the Gould Empire. Apophis' face was disfigured when he was Sokar's prisoner. However I would imagine the plates are for intimidation and a mark of pride like "I journeyed through the underworld, killed the god of death and took his power!" They're battle scars. You are right the sarcophagus would heal the scars, hence why he has the metal plates to keep them in tact. And yes he must have used a sarcophagus as his host is nearly two thousand years old, we see in a previous episode that if he goes for a long time without a sarcophagus his host will age rapidly.

When does he not get owned? His first appearance had him running with his tail between his fins when Thor showed up, later he gets a knife to the hand thanks to Jack, and now this! Heru'ur is useless!!! lol

Apophis was powerful before his capture by Sokar. After Ra's death he was the most powerful of the system Lords. It just takes time to assemble an invasion fleet. The hard part being troops not hataks

No the guys who escaped in the death glider were Teal'c(the shol'va) and another Jaffa. Teal'c was supposed to be sent to Apophis's mothership but a Jaffa called Rak'nor saved him and sent the goa'uld torture master Terok instead(the guy lying dead at Apophis's feet).

Anubis was when the series got a bit excessive with the power escalation, because the dude had the weakest motives of everyone thanks to not having a normal body and was too capable to the point of making some of his loses unbelievable at times.

Apophis was a powerfull System Lord, the problem is when Earth destroyed two Ships from Apophis the other system lords look at this as a weakness and started to attack Apophis, then Sokkar comes to play, and start to attack Apophis too.
