We do get our first glimpse of it during the first episode when having his adopted village attacked, his wife is taken. Carter tries to talk him down from killing a tank full of unhosted Goa'uld only for him to turn around with deadly calm and empty a clip into it.
Semi-ascending helped, too. The more you do it, the more you can retain when you go back to the mortal realm. It's the same with Jack. The second time he had the Ancient database downloaded, he had more control over it and stayed himself longer. Like breaking in a new pair of shoes. Only it's Jack's and Daniel's minds being the ones getting broken into.
@@samsonguy10k true but he had amnesia the first time and could barely recall any of it, then Replicator Sam mind-probes him, he then later is seen fluently reading and speaking Ancient at ease (or semi ease if the plot demands).
@@samsonguy10k Jack and Daniel both had ancient knowledge access. That's why when you drink a lot of Jack Daniels you learn about the mysteries of the universe
aside from Jack Oniell, Daniel Jackson is incredibly badass. Colonel Oniell is the epitome of greatness in SG-1, but Daniel Jackson is on a whole other level. He is a peacemaker, diplomat, foreign whatchamacallit, man this guy has ascended more than once, obtained powers beyond the conceivable, and altered reality. HE IS THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE LEGEND.
Yeah, I would say wisdom too. Remember how SG teams were on Unas planet to mine nakadah and they accidentally started war with locals? They were totally outnumbered, trapped with no way out. Daniel when to negotiate. Result: Unas will mine nakadah for SGC. As part of war effort against Goa'ulds, they will give SGC material and they will fight against Goa'ulds for them.
What she didn't realize is that Daniel already has all that knowledge, it's already stored within him, she's learning it, he's remembering it. Remembering what being ascended means.
Notice how Daniel always ends up with the Godlike powers. *Not ascended anymore? I guess I'll just assume control of a galaxy-wide race of murderbots.*
I can't help but notice how Daniel became like this after Michael Shanks left because he wanted his character to be more prominent and have more story... And as soon as he came back, suddenly a lot of the storylines are about him or he plays an important role in them.
Sg1 so good. Daniel was getting buffer due to his roles in smallville etc.. playing hawkman, so instead of trying to keep him a weak archeology stereotype, they put scenes with him training with teal'c etc... I always love shows where the writers evolve with the chars and actors, like Richard Dean reduced roll etc..
I understood what he meant. She and her army only saw things in terms of nature and survival. Replicate and survive. That is all they do, forget raw knowledge, he was right about understanding.
I remember that episode, it was great. There was continuation of that Daniel vs Replicarter scene with the epic "I got you now" and Daniel taking the control.
He still didn't have enough to beat her himself, but he had enough to allow everyone else to beat her. Giving others a fighting chance is the least anyone can ask for.
@@PerfectAlibi1 if replicators where running windows , their story arc would last for 10 min , until Carter opens some early 00s porn sites on internet through replicator interface :D
it's not really infinite knowledge though. the ascended beings don't know everything, they just know a much greater perspective and understanding of knowledge to the universe than the ppl still on the lower plains. it's almost like ascension is like the cloud, when it comes to information. in physical form you are limited, and in machine form you are greater in how much you can hold, but still limited to how many breatheran existed. i really would have liked to see ba'al really take Adria as a host. i wonder if the gould could have ascended by doing this. and actually could have been what happened with Anubis as he tricked Oma Desala.
Not really. Yes the replicators both in SG1 and Atlantis were treated like that but there is a good reason. The SG1 Replicators were only driven by accumulation of information and advanced technology and even after 5th imparted RepliCarter with his "improvements" he also transferred his instability and the base directive of "take everything thats worth something and burn down the rest" persisted. Those Replicators never showed an ability to truly be creative and self thinking including RepliCarter, all the tech they used was conquered and spirituality is not even a concept for them. Everything is 1 or 0, black or white, threat or no threat, useful or uninteresting. And to ascend Free will and spiritual development are key. The Atlantis Replicators are a differend case. While they were developed for war against the Wraith they were far more advanced, more individual and through the Ancients grasped some of their core concepts and aspirations. That includes Ascension and the nature of spirituality to a degree. And after they gained access to their own base code they were free to develop in whatever direction they wished. And there was group that acted independantly to ascend, peacefully coexist and find their next evolutionary stage.
"Not yet, but I'm learning." You have to give Replicator Sam credit. She knows she just royally F-ed up and awoken an Ancient who is becoming more powerful by the second and she still stands her ground in defiance despite being absolutely terrified.
Danny boy dying was basically a hobby and solution for him. "Aw man, trouble is brewing, better die for a bit so I can deal with it" Who DIES to help out? Daniel fuggin Jackson, that's who. Tell your friends! Tell your enemies!
@@eliesh3833 it'S cause he didn't die. He got a nasty stabwoudn in the chest,so he went to a diner for a coffee and a chat while maintenance was fixing the chestwound. even got a taxi back to SGC. They forgot the clothes, but,you know, there is always something.
the true weakness of evil is over confidence is brvado is saying hey this is my evil plan i need a audiance.. i need to show how youll suffer.. while good just gets whats needs to be done with no brvado no ego open and up front this is our strenth that and sheer will, love, etc is far more power ful than evil.. and always wins because of this.. but the ballance must be maintained evil has a right too.. when you go over the line you become evil when you go over the line and force your will on others you become evil this is why the accients decided to hide us instead of acting out.. sometimnes doing nothing is far more productive than doing something.. maintain the ballance.. this is why god will not step in he knows the ballance will be maintained its only when it tips too far and shows no sign of ballancing out that he will step in only then is it right...
Is it just me or did the various _Stargate_ series each express an anti-robot/android/AI sentiment? With the exception of Daniel Jackson, I can't remember *anyone* pushing back against the "It's just a machine." argument.
Reese and the interactions between Sam and the original human replicator (which she betrayed) went in the other direction but yeah overall it's a very anti AI attitude.
@@CrysJaL Daniel was the only person that stood up for Reese; Sam saw Reese as a scientific curiosity instead of a genuine life form. I agree that Sam wanted to give Fifth a chance in his introductory episode, but she seemed to later abandon this open-minded stance.
@@Ragitsu What I mean is that those episodes portray AI in a positive, or at least sympathetic light. unlike for example the replicators in the Atlantis galaxy which were just assholes, because they were assholes.
"The extent of knowledge we can absorb is only limited by our numbers" That right there is exactly why we shouldn't even try to create AI with any degree of sentience
I've always hated the part where Daniel says Replicator Carter would leave Earth alone. She offered a deal, he rejected it, and she attacked. Therefore, she NEVER lied.
And you really believe a megalomaniac AI hell-bent on conquering the Galaxy and beyond would have qualms about stomping on an "inferior" life form even though they previously made a pact? If you do, you weren't paying attention for 10 seasons.
He could probably understand some of it, but not all. The knowledge in his mind is like times milion squared to what Jack obtained through the storage device. The only difference is that Jack's brain was trying to actively use it thus failing and Jack almost dying, Daniel's situation is a bit different. The information is stashed very, very, very deep in his subconcious where he can't reach it and only extremely little fragments float to the surface: his knowledge of the Ancient language he gained after returning to the corporeal form for the first time
@@ben17ismAscension doesn't make you allpowerful, it's only the beginning of the journey. Meaning, Daniel was only a beginner and there's even more knowledge to find. Mathematics speaks of multiple levels of infinity, I reckon ascension is the same way.
it's not really infinite knowledge though. the ascended beings don't know everything, they just know a much greater perspective of knowledge to the universe than the ppl still on the lower plains.
Or there are multiple levels of infinity. Ascended beings aren't limited to space and time as we know it, heck, they may even be able to travel to alternate dimensions, alternate realities and alternate timelines.
So not sure how canon this is but I think repliweir managed to ascend (with the help of an ascended) so it is possible, it's just that nobody ever figured out how.
@@victorselve8349 See - operative point being "with help". Those ascended can ascend probably anyone, but to achieve it on one's own is different matter entirely....
Actually it should be "limitless" because "infinite" is a growing status due to the fact infinity has got a beginning (count to infinity or count forever 1, 2, 3 , 4, etc). The limitlessness status is unreachable due to it has got no beginning or end. I've got the greater knowledge of the universe like the fictional Ancients do in the movie. I do share that knowledge. I made a scientific book with the universe formula. Thumbs up if you find my comment helpful so that others can find it too.
