They are the best cars ever made. cheap, fun, easy to fix... I own one , 1.3L 55hp (petrol) had it since 2019 (its october 2023 as I post this comment) and literally no problems... never, never let me down once.. Im keeping this one forever. nice video btw.
@@coollol5801 We had a 1994 B4 Passat 2.0 GL Auto, ex dealer demo, that had every optional extra going, on top of the well equipped GL spec. It had full leather interior, air conditioning, heated seats, centre arm rest too with was never fitted to UK cars. It was painted in Windsor Blue pearl metallic.
@@leftlanegaming530 after 29 years it's hard for metal no to react with oxygen ;) I sold it in 2019r especially when through entire winter there is salt on the road and mostly salt water not ice/snow and negative temperatures. entire winter is like -5*C to 5*C everyday.
Wow, that was a quick start! Fired right up, unlike some other classic finds on this channel. 7 years later and more than 30 since being built! Great job!
Uh... The newer ones are pretty nice actually. Have a 2019. It's great so far. The Mk4-6 era had interiors that fell apart and funky electrical problems. The newer ones mk7+ seemed to have shed those problems.
Finally Flexiny fixes a car that I actually own! I have a Canadian spec 1992 Mk 2 16V GTI in Tornado Red that I have owned for many years. The Mk2 was one of VW's best and I used to work on them everyday at my job years ago (sadly most are gone now). The similar Jetta models were near indestructible when equipped with the turbodiesels. My sister achieved 770,000 km in her '91 before the transmission blew up, and the car was a bit too rusty to repair. The engine however ended up in an old Suzuki 4x4! Great cars!
My dads Golf GTI mk2 lasted for 650k km till it started burning oil. At that time (2002) it wasnt worth it to spend so much money repairing the car so he had to scrap it. I miss it. I was born in 1997.
YESSSS!!!! Finally a Golf on this channel! Golf mk2 base model!!!😍😍 wish this was a GTi though because GTi is my favourite model!!♥️♥️♥️ I’ve got my pride and joy Vw Golf Mk4 GTi and that was my first car!! One of the best cars I even driven!!
These Golfs were the nicest IMO, surprised most things still work on it. Just remembered the parking light on either side that came on depended on which way the indicator stalk was placed. That dog is hilarious !!!
I had an ‘87 golf GL in college. Same color but a 4 dr. Manual, no power steering, roll windows and crank sunroof. Bought for $600 from a neighbor. Great car definitely got my moneys worth out of it. Now I just bought myself a grey ‘23 gti 40th anniversary edition : )
the best golf:at time was the more compact car whit morbid materials, and the biggest space of interior,a fruit vendor in my city bought it in the first 80 s and still use it to sell fruit, a car of 36 years that still go whithout problems and interior not ruined, virtually eternal
Woww my DREAM CAR AT THAT MOMENT IN 1984 !!! BUT TOO EXPENSIVE AT THAT TIME , I JUST GOT MY FIRST JOB AT 24 YEAR OF AGE , SECOND CHOICE TOYOTA STARLET 1.3 OSO STILL EXPENSIVE ...AT LAST I GOT MORRIS MARINA COUPE 1275 CC MINI CLUBMAN ENGINE , CAN TOUCH 175 KMPH * rear wheel can spin with manual transmission....# my first car Broo...T.Q you light up my 38 years of memory , now I'm 62 ... retire.
My dad had a VW golf 2. It was 1.6 petrol. Those cars are pretty strong and endurable. I think it had over 500 000km. But 1.6 Turbodiesel is like a tank.
No GTI's here, just a standard, good old MK2 Golf GL, and was nice to see it driving around after a fair while, as usual from you. The rear plate was certainly very faded out, almost thought there was not one on there & the steering wheel was utterly filthy, that's for sure.
my grandpa still has his golf 2 with the 1.8 petrol engine and sometimes i take it out for a drive just to appreciate it, as it is still in very good shape because he looks after it a lot
I love the work of reviving the cars, and I would like to know their fate after you repair them, that part always intrigues me, greetings from Argentina
One of the best cars vw has made! i´m hearing the hydraulic valve lifter´s making noise.. but maybe i´ts old oil, or a stuck oilfilter.. but a repair is not that expensive. im driving myself a golf3.. and its a cheap way to drive a car.. you can fix everything by yourself und spare parts are very cheap. :))
yep !!! In A MK8 or eGolf you can't touch your hand if you don't know to program computers because of the many electronics and sensors even a mechanic who is specialized for 40 years cannot fix it while this old car even someone irrelevant can fix it them self because no electronic or sth it's all plain
true !!! in modern cars parts are expensive and you need to order them from a dealership and wait from months while in old cars you can find cheap used parts without waiting for imports
Hi. Nice episode. I like this Golf 2 and I would like to drive it like that. Overall, Golfs are always fun. I saw that the engine was overheating in the Golf and immediately knew that there was a problem with the radiator fan that does not start on a hot engine. I think this problem should be solved. The next time you unscrew the cap from the coolant tank, unscrew it very slowly, because there is such pressure in the cooling system that if you unscrew it normally, you could burn yourself.
Volkswagen golf sitting there long time never been on the road German vehicle engine is good condition seats not bad at all new battery air tires stick shift couldn't drive it save my life keep bringing new videos friend bless you happy Thanksgiving holiday season
Great video Flexiny! I really like the sound of your Isuzu Trooper, has a good engine. That dog is great! my collie Fern does the same kind of things. Thanks for your video!
I used to own a VW golf MKII 1.6D. Amazing fuel economy - 4.5l/100km. After I changed to a newer MKIV 1.9 66kw - it seemed that I had driven the MKII on fresh air, not fuel 😄😄 Of course - less comfort, less safety - but the main goal - to get from point A to point B was fulfilled.
I had 1988-89 1.3CL 5 door in red it was a lovely car with no rust and didnt have any problems really apart from needed a new speedo which I got from a scrap yard, but eventually head gasket went on her.
80s cars from German manufacturers had some fantastic durability. Same as BMW E30, MB 190. Also Toyota Corolla models of these days were nearly indestructible
Back from the time when Volkswagen made good economy petrol engines, apart from the injection system, mechanically speaking these engines are indestructible. Just change the oil and it will run forever
Restore it! New Wheels New Interior LED headlights Repaint! Remove old engine put 1.8 T 150 from Audi A3 and this car will go beast mode! My maan.. you just touch my soul with this video.. we have friend in my village.. he had 1.8 T Golf Mk2 and it was a f beast! i don't know just someone need to save this thing and restore it
