Rule 1: There ARE rules Rule 2: Bugger the rules Rule 3: if you break them, EB will kill you Rule 4: only EB can break the rules Rule 5: Forget whatever these rules just said
ScottPillgram20 It could've been worse. The characters in this movie would've been like; "And then, I couldn't stop watching the game. So much hyper realistic blood. Pictures of dead people flash up on the screen." THEN TURN THE GAME OFF YOU FUCKING IDIOT!
God damn, this was a dumb movie, but I have some admitting nostalgia with this movie-- watched it as a kid on the Sci-fi channel, something like that. Getting to see Phelous talk about this movie warms my heart.
"Maybe you're suppose to read that prayer." "Thats next generation technology." Yep, chatting to a game was so advance and unthinkable in 2006. *Holds up a copy of Hey You, Pikachu*
+JustinB6699 There are a few games and devices that allowed you to do shit in games before 2006 but I guess this game had some next level voice shit it was like the power glove for your mouth.
Oh man, classic Phelous videos. It's already been 6 years?! These older videos still hold up, man! Stupid RU-vid, give this sir more exposure, you deserve more subs!
4:28 I think they at least deserve some props for actually referencing something real. They could've been like "I'm stuck at the glowing golem boss. Well you need the ancient Samaritan spear from the school to defeat him."
I remember watching this and thinking that this game idea was awesome, not the whole dying in the game dying for real thing but the exploring a house in a co-op experience
Silent Hill knowledge = subscribbing, lol. That and you are entertaining and after following you on Twitter, I figured I should actually watch a video at somepoint. lol
My sisters PS2 OG copy got destroyed in my apartment fire, she had her animals over and an EX left my stove on. But that game was so rare I feel ashamed for losing it along with my other PS2 games.
MrGMoney1944 Thats a really stupid reason for not watching anymore episodes of a show you know. And Sword Art Online is a Japanese show and in Japan and in most countries outside the politically correct west actually they expect most heterosexual men to enjoy looking at women with big boobs and sure not to dislike it. My dad and his family are from turkey and they used to suspect i was gay because i was embaressed when they pointed at women with hot bodys and talked about them out in the open. Where they come from its completely normal but here in the west its offensive.
Whats is this? Darkest Dungeon? If your squad dies you die in real life becose you problably lost all your highest squad members becose you fought the wrong boss and you couldent escap- *Dies by Stress*
tbonevideos23 Because of popular ones like Ben Drown and the Nes Godzilla game. At least that's what I'm assuming, trends usually start when someone made something really popular.
6:57 All this movie is doing is reminding me I could be watching Steamboy instead. Which, for the record, all of you should be doing- it’s a _freaking awesome_ movie.
Everyone's saying IASIP or Westworld. But Jimmi was also literally in a Black Mirror episode where he was stuck in a video game. Member that? Oh I member! I love to member!
So is anyone going to point out how the couple having sex died because their dead bodies were found in the game But they NEVER played the game THIS GAME FREAKING CHEATS!
Loomis tells them "I found you guys in the game you got it good" and the guy responds "we haven't played for hours" so yeah very quick dialogue to so its hard to miss
I saw the trailer for this at the theater seeing The Hills Have Eyes and literally all I said was "MALCOLM!" Frankie Muniz was the last person I expected to see, and when I saw it on TV years later he totally STAYS alive:):)
And yet makes less sense than any other haunted game creepypasta out there. Because Elizabeth Bathry has no fucking connection to gaming in any fucking way.
I just found this channel from nostalgia critic & I am subscribing immediately! I love your reviews! Its funny because your reviews feminine me of a mix of nostalgia critic & cinema snob & I love it ☺
I actually really like this movie. I own it, watched it 3-4 times. It's one of my favorite slightly cheesy horror movies.I love the Elizabeth Bathory angle. I like all the characters, and the real life merging with video game dynamic. But yeah, listening to the review, some things do seem weird now that I think about it. Loomis at the beginning doesn't look bored to me, he looks more, very, very tired, like he stayed up until 6 in the morning playing or something. It is very strange that his girlfriend did not go with him to the funeral...and yeah, the one character I did not ever really like is blondie home-wrecker there...and all the rest....eh. I still like the movie..
Angela Mishler The character Phelous keeps insisting is his girlfriend, October, is never implied in the movie to be so. Literally the onlt justification I can see for that assumption is that little affectionate moment they have when he comes back from the funeral, which is a perfectly normal exchange between close friends.
The one thing that makes me smile about this movie is that it stars the same guy who was the hardass cybersecurity agent in Hackers. I keep waiting for him to tell one of the kids "I'm about to FLUSH YOUR ASS."
The funniest thing about this game is that the actual story that was written had a lot of things in it that was taken out. From what I've heard it wasn't enough to really tell you what the hell was happening however it did explain some things.
Hey Phelous, just wanna say I love your stuff, been a fan girl for as long as I can remember but have never commented on anything you've done, so figured I would, dunno why this video, their all just as awsome and funny as each other. Just wanna thank you for your content, always makes me smile when I'm having a bad day, keep it up, loads of love x
Ugh, Elisabeth Bathory first, was totally innocent of the false crimes the Austrians charged her with, and second... she never lived in Transylvania. Or haunted video games. Though, the Countess in Diablo 2 Act I. is based on her - but I have never heard Diablo 2 players being killed the way their character died in the game :D
Indeed, the "bathe in girl's blood" story as well as a lot of the other things she was accused of were invented by her political enemies with no evidence to support them. It's rather absurd when people treat smear propaganda as fact.
@A Scam Involving Corndogs Yeah, because that's, how it worked back then, it just was much easier to bribe everyone. Those witnesses were household, peasants and people, who greatly benefited from her demise.
I ended up watching a cut version of this when I was younger. Both the visit to the programmer and the writer were cut and they just magically skipped to the house.
I know this movie is so stupid, but...I love it. It’s one of my guilty pleasure movies and I get a kick out of how all the actors aren’t taking it too seriously and are clearly having fun. The premise is ridiculous, it’s riddled with cliches and overdone tropes, but I just can’t help but enjoy it with every watch.
I'm sure you've already got enough love about that silent hill knowledge, i wanna props you for having Nightmare the video board game in the background I have all the expansions to that game :)
Ha. I was just watching some of your reviews last night wondering if you ever reviewed this movie but for the life of me I couldn't remember the name of it, so this is a nice surprise. :)
Of course Jimmi Simpson doesn't mind. Because he's been waiting 30 years for a game with real stakes! Frankly, if a video game can't kill you in real life, it won't fill his existential void or whatever.
Do the people who worked on and made this movie even know anything about video games? The 'gamers' in the movie don't even act like actual gamers, they're acting is so artificial they act more like really bad LPers. It's really awful.
teheyepatch Very true. Especially the fact that the historical figure who later became the Bloody Mary legend is suddenly an Internet Ghost.....well, online gaming ghost.
actually if you look up the film you'll see its actually the producers fault why the movie blown the unrated version is better. and so you could blame Disney
I just realized that the guy who plays the cop who didn’t get killed is from the wire and this is during the same time is the wire. So bunk from the wire is playing disbelieve cop number one.
i actually have an old recorded version of this movies with some scenes cut like the "totally normal" bathroom talk and the finding the developer part, i dont know if its my mom's or uncle's but that doesnt matter
7:04 Understandable 7:22 Whoah is a good reaction 7:29 Its called Narration 8:00 The vibrating controllers happen all the time 8:16 Bro is used a lot 10:00 Of course its a survival game, its called Stay Alive Loook the rest is ok, everything about this movie is good
Don't judge me to harshly but this movie scared the ever loving shit out of me as a kid. It got so bad I couldn't go out after dark because I'd imagine those creepy little girls under the street lights waiting for me. And then there was the worst nightmare I've had. I can watch it now but back then it fucked with me badly
Me and my mates watched this recently and until I started the review, I'd completely forgotten everything about this film and I'm still not sure what happened
