Most reasonable, rational people would ask, “why would anyone root for that?” It’s because it can be entertaining, and when the drama plays out online, people can get away with saying outrageous shit, and not really suffer the consequences. Even when it comes to something people enjoy, the chaotic behavior & drama of someone famous having the almost inevitable downfall unfortunately, can be just as entertaining. It’s what we do, and it’s kinda f’ed up. Plus, most people enjoy a redemption arc, so if the fallen, career ruined individual can turn it all around, and get back to the top of the mountain, that’s even better. I agree, it’s a twisted relationship that people end up having with shit they enjoy, and you are supposed to ask your question.

It’s absolutely going to change Shane, but not Matt too much I don’t think. Shane will at least have the self-awareness not to brag about his success when he’s around the Rogan crew, and same for Matt. The problem is none of these dudes have any connection to Texas, no pride in the state, it’s just another cheap state they can love to that has some allure to it that they can buy their way into becoming a part of. When you grow up in a culture you take on aspects of that culture that carry with you throughout your life, but if you just hop from state to state, city to city, there’s an impermanence about your personality that will seem phony and hard to place.
