@@RamaAlonso Of all the tributes that poured in in the months after, that one hit me the hardest. And it was from an interview 10 years after the accident.
I'm 37 and not ashamed to admit I got a little watery eyed during the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction when Jimmy was talking about their relationship and how both had their issues with drugs and alcohol, he said "Big brother showed little brother how to play the guitar at first, but little brother showed me how to get clean and sober"
I know you already did Jimmy's band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds song Tuff Enough...how about Wrap It Up cause Jimmy is great...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-51270i8F3mU.html. And their other hit, Powerful Stuff...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hzQ2Extfvj4.html
My heart aches sometimes when I see Jimmy. He was the one who had to identify Stevie's body after the crash. He was so devastated by his brother's death that he went into seclusion for quite sometime afterwards. They had their brotherly ups and downs, but they truly loved each other. People are always talking about who influenced Stevie the most, well it all started with his big brother Jimmy who actually made Stevie want to pick up a guitar in the first place. We love the Vaughan brothers!
Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn sure produced some guitar playing offspring with Stevie Ray and Jimmy. You should check out some of Jimmy Vaughn's work with The Fabulous Thunderbirds.
Being subbed to this channel is the best double edged sword, man. Either you know the song brother Jamal is listening to, and it's like introducing a free spirited good friend of yours a song you love. Or you don't know the song, and then you're bound to be introduced to some groovy stuff. What a blessing!
@@jamelakajamal Love your open heart to music ............. I recommend "Don't lie to Me" from Blues Great Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughn or any of the other songs they did together during their Sessions............. Great back and forth guitar solos ............
His brothers band. Fabulous Thunderbirds. Tuff Enough worth listening to 🎶 Enjoy a slice of Texas.... God bless Texas... howdy Endeavor🤠😍😍💐💐💕👍✌ y'all take care
I was pulling into the parking lot of my workplace when I heard Stevie had died, I was running late so I had to hurry in, I immediately ran into the bathroom to hide as the tears flowed down my face. Tough guy can't be caught crying. RIP Stevie.
I was driving home after a bit of shopping and heard of his death on the radio. I pulled into a grocery store parking lot and just sat there for 45 min. Got home and locked myself in bedroom in silence rest of the day and while awake all night. Still hurts to think about.
I was having my baby in the hospital when the news broke. It was stroming hard and nasty here in Michigan on that night. The sky was crying and so was I. I wanted to name my daughter Stevie but went with Gabrielle. RIP SRV
Jimmy is the gunslinger.. the sharpshooter... Stevie was the blues made flesh & bone Both so talented in their own right & succesful with their own bands. You could truly see the love they had for each other in this video. So glad you reacted to this
I was a fan of Jimmy's for a while before I finally gave his little brother a listen and then I became a fan of both. Stevie was obviously phenomenal but Jimmy has always had a definite place in my heart. While Stevie had a bit of rock and roll in his art Jimmy has been a blues man all his life and his solid playing has never wavered. I have the utmost respect for him.
How good does someone need to be to play a double guitar with someone else playing the same guitar at the same time and not get tripped up by watching what the other person is doing. That's true talent and mental focus! The Vaughan brothers!!
There is not anything that Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Vaughan can't play on a guitar..legends and they are known all over the world..blue's ..and rock n roll ..let's go..
At the point you do this on stage, it's not really considered practicing, just showing off. Stevie learned to play hiding in the closet with Jimmi's guitar and didn't require the use of his eyes to play. Big brother did. They were just that good.
Yup. His version of this song with SRV, Nitro, Miserlou and many, many more. I was fortunate enough to see Dick Dale play in a small club once and got to meet him after the show :-) :-) :-)
Stevie did played with Dick Dale on that signature song, Pipeline. Dick won a Grammy for best instrumental with SRV on Pipeline. Original group was The Chantays 1st recorded Pipeline in 1963.
I'm one of the luckiest people in the world - living in Houston and getting to see SRV & The Fabulous Thunderbirds do several concerts together. What a great time to be alive! Thank you for the video.
Ohhh my word!! I’ve never seen this! Those brothers! Can you just imagine the music around the house while they were growing up?! Thanks for sharing this!
Wow! Hadn't seen that before - thanks! You should check Stevie playing that with Dick Dale - the original guy who wrote it: really awesome. Stevie really goes to town on it. As for Vaughan Brothers collaborations, check out "Telephone Song". Probably my favorite SRV solo! Thanks for listening and sharing! Peace from SF
Got to see this live from the 6th row! Great show, The Fabulous Thunderbirds were an excellent opening act and contributed this as one of the encores!!
I saw Stevie with Jeff Beck November 12, 1989 at the RPI Fieldhouse, Troy, NY. I still have my ticket stub. Tremendous concert. Keep the music alive, brother!
Just feel privileged to have seen them both live in my lifetime . Stevie in a farmers field in the "Beaver Dam Country Fest" in Manitoba Canada (mini Woodstock 😂🤣) , and Jimmy with the Fabulous T-Birds at the Concert Hall In Winnipeg Manitoba
I was there. It was Jimmie’s (Fabulous Thunderbirds) show. They took a break and Stevie sat down and started playing. Jimmie came up, joking, like “Hey you, this is my gig!”...
That's BROTHERLY LOVE! Big Brother tellin' Little Brother...Go for it, Man! No longer upset that lil' brother Stevie repeatedly snuck the playing of Jimmy's guitar
My wife and I used to see "The Fabulous Thunderbirds" (Jimmie Vaughn) early in the band's career. They would play Trinity University, in San Antonio (from which both she and I matriculated) at least twice per year circa 1979-1980, outdoors and best of all, FREE! Good times indeed.
I came here from your reaction to The Firm's 'Radioactive', that you did four days before this one. I love both bands and both songs so it was a natural progression. Love your reactions to both and I've come to help you out. You said you've seen somebody only play a double-neck guitar once before but couldn't remember who it was, never seen two guys playing the same guitar at the same time. Well, your reaction to 'Radioactive' four days prior was the other time. Jimmy Page played his twin-neck Gibson, which he had Gibson custom-build for him after he had recorded Stairway to Heaven, and realised he'd need a twin-neck guitar to play it live. BTW I saw Stevie Ray play in Auckland, New Zealand in 1986, with Jimmy's band The Fabulous Thunderbirds supporting. They played this song in the encore at the end of Stevie's set, exactly the same way. Blew me away completely seeing it live and up close (I was always on the front line, 'in the trenches' every concert I went to). Still remember it. RIP Stevie.
Can't remember what year in the 80's it was , because anytime SRV came to town I was buying tickets . But I saw the Brothers Vaughan perform this LIVE at The Pier in NYC one year at the annual summer concert series where The Fabulous Thunderbirds who were riding the peak of their popularity opened for SRV . I am so glad this video is out there , because anytime I watch this it brings back an all time concert memory for me .
I had plans to see Stevie Ray the year before he died & had to back out (damn it, still not over it). But I got to see Jimmie play with The Fabulous Thunderbirds. He's a phenomenal player in his own right & it was a great show.💙
The original was written in 1962 by a group, I believe called the "Chantays" & was part of the surfing music craze of the early sixties of surfing in Hawaii & California!! The pipeline was a 'curling wave' where the crest of the wave starts falling creating a falling cascade of water in front of the wave!!
I was privileged to see SRV the night he died at Alpine Valley. That was the first time I've seen this. Thanks Jamel, I got to react with you on this one.
I've been waiting for this review for so long now. I just smashed that like button before the intro music played out. I never ever tire seeing this video. I can only imagine what it must've been like to be in that crowd.
And Willie Nelson Guy Clark Lightning Hopkins T-Bone Walker Freddie & Albert King Townes van Zandt Albert Collins Joe Ely Gary P Nunn And Bob Wills, who is still the King 😉👍
This is my favorite. Love this. Jimmy had it harder. The angle. wow. Also when they switched... Stevie on top had the smaller neck and harder to play cleanly.
