Thank you! When Stevie, always the gentleman, wanted to cover this song, he asked Stevie Wonder’s permission. Stevie Wonder, always the gentleman, was impressed with SRV’s manners, and offered him the use of his studio and musicians. They became true friends, and this wonderful collaboration was one result. Stevie Wonder was at Stevie Ray Vaughan’s funeral and sang “Amazing Grace” with Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne. Jeff Healey was there too.
Bass Player is Scott Edwards, he sadly just passed last year in 2022. He always had those "funky chunky" bass licks. RIP Scott, SRV and all we've lost.
@@charlesdrake3125 You may be right, but in my defense I found photos of Edwards wearing that exact same outfit, and given the quality of the video and my old-ass eyeballs, it's an easy mistake to make. LOL Good catch!
This is why Stevie Ray is the GOAT guitarist. The man knows he's on stage with absolute legends and he just does his thing tastefully in the background. He's not going wild on the solos overpowering everything and everyone. He's just doing his thing under the melody crushing it.
I must’ve missed this back then. Holy cow, that looks so fun! Stevie Wonder’s original “Superstition” was the first 45 I ever bought. This is just so cool. 💜💜💜
Stevie Wonder letting Stevie Ray Vaughan take the first verse in one of his songs speaks volumes on the respect. I believe the reason why these artists loved him is SRV had so much respect for them. I can't remember the song. It was a cover Stevie has been doing. He heard the original artist was not getting the royalties from the record. He ended up just giving him money out of his own.
This is probably one of the best power groupings I had heard in a long time. Back when things were just for the art and nothing more. We need more of this.
@ 5:48 I know bro. I said literally the exact same thing when I saw this. I grew up with Both Stevies and I didn't know about this. I slapped my own face for not knowing.
It's so fun to watch your reactions to things! You have Such an awesome personality Jamel! You were born for this stuff! Keep them coming man! Much love to you and your family! 😁🫶🕺
This is amazing! Definitely helping to keep great music alive resurrecting gems like this. Going to be listening to this one for a while I can already tell lol
I love seeing Stevie Ray Vaughan in a rarely seen video, especially this one which was so incredible! I wish more reactors would react to more videos like this! 🤗❤🎶🎸
I don't know how you find gems like this but you are awesome. Thank you. The song is one of my favorites of all time. This version just sent it into space J.
Brownmark aka Mark Brown was a member of the Revolution (Prince). He was with them for the Purple Rain, Parade, and Around the World in a Day albums. Fantastic bass player!!
I loved how Stevie Ray Vaughan, I'm sure out of respect for Stevie Wonder, kept his solos fairly simple so as to not outshine him. We lost him far too soon. Oh yeah, great reaction Jamel.
This song started out when Jeff Beck was in Detroit putting a guitar solo on Wonder's Talking Book album. Jeff was in the studio playing around on the drums, waiting for Stevie to arrive, and when Wonder walked in he liked the beat that Beck was playing, and proceeded to write the song around that drum beat. Stevie was going to give the song to Beck to release as payment for recording on the album, but his management said no way - the song was too good to give away. Then Beck was laid up due to a bad car accident, and couldn't record for over a year anyway. He did a version later with Beck, Bogert, and Appice. Beck and Wonder played it together at the R.& R. Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary concert.
I only saw the title and right away click on thumbs up No need to watch It doesn't get any better than this But you know what ? I watch it anyway and I still partying for the fourth time
Thanks, Jamel. I needed the energy boost. I'm sure a lot of you have already seen it. But there's also a great LIVE studio version. Hope I'm not breaking any rules by including the link. I have no affiliation with the channel that uploaded it. Other than I've watched/listened to it 10's of times: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wDZFf0pm0SE.html
I remember this from TV back in the late 80's! Here in New Zealand! I was fully into Stevie Ray and Salt & Pepa and Prince (Brown Mark the bassist). Here's another recording that includes a second track and an interlude with words by both Stevies... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--JQcHaPtllQ.html
I've been asking for a long time if you could react to Stevie Wonder's ''Blowin' in the Wind'' live (Bob Dylan The 30th Anniversary) is the most emotional version of that song I've ever heard
