Amazing video as always Nick! So incredible to see how the subjects compose themselves in front of your lens like in a play, you really have such a good instinct. So bad I couldn't come.

Hey Nick, just found these videos through the Fujicast site, just watched several (like five or six, phew) and really enjoy the way you work the scenes. Your talking reminds me of the ramblings I do in my own head as I work, but I'm imagining an audience while you actually have one, hahaha. During the sailboat scene there was a moment there where I really felt your photojournalism background show it's training. I also enjoyed your pointing out the guy walking in the background that one moment, moments in the depth can be so important and it's one I hadn't heard you mention prior. Anyway, it has been a pleasure and I think you may have inspired me to actually start posting some newer and older stuff on the old instagram. Thanks man. d

Thanks Moshe, I think when you stop getting excited by a wonderful scene or happening in the street, it's time to do something else. It's the wonder of everyday life that keeps drawing me back week after week, year after year. Thanks for watching.

Another great video Nick, enjoyed watching while I had my lunch! You seemed a lot looser in this video, was there an Italian wine loosener to start? Haha. I like the way that your girlfriend tags along in the background, makes me feel less back about dragging my fiancée around while I’m shooting 😂

@streetphotographywithnickt1648

Hi Steve, my main thrust is cameracraft and picture making but I will do a post processing video at some point especially tailored to Street images. My post processing is pretty minimal so it won't be a long vid ;-)

very nice video Nick!! I greatly appreciate you walking us through your "vision process" as you are shooting. I am really learning a lot from your videos especially in the area of staying with the scene/composition you have and keeping from the temptation to create another one. I have a quick tech question how are you recording through your viewfinder? Again thanks for the video!!
@streetphotographywithnickt1648
@streetphotographywithnickt1648 4 года назад
Thanks Dezmond, I’m delighted that it is useful to you. If you’ll forgive me, I won’t go in to details about recording the viewfinder, two other RU-vidrs have already copied the technique and it took me some effort and time and expense to develop :-)

@@streetphotographywithnickt1648 excellent to see this through the viewfinder. So much better than seeing it via a separate GoPro POV as I suspect such a rig bruises the scene a bit more. I guess Fuji are happy you are doing this too :-) Thanks for sharing

This is another great instructive video of yours Nick, I'd like to ask you how you chose those locations to go and shoot? Did you know Trieste already or was it more of a chance encounter?
@streetphotographywithnickt1648

Hi Aitor, thanks for the kind words. I just set out from my hotel and followed my nose, I was drawn to the harbour front and the sea and from there, spotted some sails off in the distance and walked quarter of a mile to check them out...but to be honest I think I would have found pictures of some sort in any direction, it's a way of seeing rather than a location. I did love the kids in the sailing boats though, that was a nice find :-)

Dear Nick, great videos - thanks for sharing them. I have some questions: 1) How do you deal with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)? Don't all photographed/filmed people have to give their permission for publication? Especially for your website and this channel? 2) How do you capture the pov (live) image of your camera? I would be very happy if you let me know. Thanks and keep it up! :)
@Tom_YouTube_stole_my_handle
@Tom_YouTube_stole_my_handle 3 года назад
I'll tackle No 1. No, because without additional information such as a caption a photograph alone does not identify the individual for the purpose of GDPR. More importantly, works created for artistic or journalistic purposes are specifically excluded from GDPR. Think about it, journalism would become impossible if everyone photographed had to consent to being photographed. Freedom of expression via the medium of photography trumps GDPR in legal guns.

I notice when viewing through your “what you see” set up through the lens..the ISO is apparently on Auto with a max of 3200. It doesn’t seem to change when you press the shutter. Is the final ISO (when shot taken) a lot less? As that seems high for a well lit scene. (Loved the composition tips by the way. You have a lot more patience than I do!).
@streetphotographywithnickt1648
@streetphotographywithnickt1648 4 года назад
Hi John, yes most shots are well below that 3200 iso, it would be more helpful if the Fuji X100F showed you the actual ISO it was selecting at the time, I agree.
