Thanks for another bright star , PBL! I love watercress, but it's seldom seen at the grocer's here in Texas. P.S. I'd like to add that watercress is a low oxalate green, in case anyone has to restrict their oxalate.🌱
Duckweed, watercress, spirulina, kelp/certain seaweeds, and cracked cell chlorella are the 5 of the most nutrient dense foods that we so far know of. Combine 1, or preferably more, of these with lentils and hemp seeds, and you have a winning combo that can cover most nutrient bases.
Sweet potatoes are weak? Come on man! Lessie Brown lived to be 114 eating sweet potato nearly EVERY DAMN DAY for almost a century! She was my beloved grandmother. Google her story.
phytonutrients weren't even taken into account. That's crazy! Everything I've read on plant health says phytonutrients are the real treasure of plants. Phytonutrients evolved in plants to combat diseases in the environment so naturally that's where you get the potent disease fighting effects when they are consumed.
My guess is Kale. I'm sure I'll be wrong though. Lol Update: wow! Good to hear its watercress. I guess I know what I'll be consuming more of then. I learn so much by watching your channel. 😊
Great video. It was unclear to me whether sweet potato was #41 or #47. All good, I downloaded the list from the link you posted. 2014 it’s been out for awhile!
Only if its grown in a mineral rich environment ! That's the problem with all food ! No minerals , no nutrients ! The food grown in a mineral rich soil , including animals that graze in these areas are nutritious!
But will people eat it, especially in 100 gram quantities? If some other type of leafy green cruciferous vegetable is close - almost as highly rated but much easier to prepare and consume in appealing ways, and in greater quantities - then wouldn't that be a better choice? I could eat a lot of Chinese cabbage, or even kale. But much less so watercress. I just do not enjoy eating the stuff.
Try Raw green and purple kale with Himalayan pink salt or kelic salt Sea salt has microplastics from barges dumping garbage Drink kefir, eat raw sauerkraut ❤ Meow!🐯❤️
I just watched few days ago, another woman RU-vidr tried to tell people Think three times before you eat vegetables. Because they are poison to people….according to her, meat is much cheaper, and no poison to our bodies…I ……😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 thanks for sharing your video. ❤
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j1cqNDDG4aA.html Dr. Anthony Chaffee - 'Plants are trying to kill you!' Dr Anthony Chaffee is an American medical doctor specialising in Neurosurgery who over a span of 20 years has researched the optimal nutritional habits for athletic performance and health. It is his assertion that most of the so-called chronic diseases that doctors treat these days are actually caused by the food we eat, or don’t eat, and can in many cases be reversed easily with dietary. 5 min into the video may change your mind
@@dj-fe4ck Absolutely, if you goal is to live to ~70 or so then skip the fruits and veggies. The human body is a powerful machine, you can abuse it with drugs, alcohol, and a crap diet and easily make it to your 70s with medical attention. If you want to live and move longer....probably need to add in good food and cut the CRAP (calorie rich and processed) drugs, and most animal products. See, we agree on stuff. Plants are not necessary but they are good for you! Good luck!
Health is about eating a wide variety of foods. Going after superlatives is good for the ego and it gets attention on RU-vid but it's the reason why people can't ever be healthy. Why do I say that? Because people get good information and then plug it into the wrong mindset. Balance is the right mindset and always going after the "best", "most", "biggest", or whatever is nonsense. Some foods are better than others, yes, but the "best" diet is to eat a variety of healthy foods.
@@MichaelJessenSo what. Some one asking an honest question. The older generation in the USA doesn't know metric because the USA held onto the Imperial (from the UK) system although we use Metric for science and dual for commerce.
@@happycook6737so if someone in the US can’t figure out a metric unit, they can look it up and convert to imperial….just like the imperial to metric conversion we have to do when someone in the US posts a vid using only imperial measurements….which is most of the time.
Spinach is the best vegetable, per last years study, higher anti-cancer properties than broccoli, 50% less chance of colon cancer, plus, along with Kale and Carrots, best vegetable for aging eye diseases, and Spinach tastes better than Kale lol
RU-vid just wiped out what I was writing about sweet potatoes and how Lessie Brown lived to be 114 eating them daily for more than 100 of those years. She was my grandmother. Google her story.
Not if you consider that too many calories is the number one factor in relation to food causing cancer. Morbidly obese people's top cause of death are tumefactions. So the question is not as much what micro nutrients the vegetable has but rather how few macros it has. Hence why sweet potatoes were the lowest on the list- I'd put my hand in the fire it also had the most calories.
@@jean-chritophedesjarlais8435 you can cut your hand you really think SP have less calories than leafy greens. and your theory on cancer is just wrong read: how not to die, cancer chapter or watch summary on YT
There is no such thing as eating too many calories from fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes. The only thing you need to worry about is eating ENOUGH calories. I have a bmi of 18 and I eat on average 2500-3000 calories a day because I eat nothing fattening. 2500 calories of cheeseburgers and fries is fattening. 2500 calories of plain potatoes and sweet potatoes or rice without added fat is not.
@@dj-fe4ck the healthy side come from the micro nutrients not from the macro that's why the winner in the veg with the highest nutrient density not the caloric dense veg
I was eating a lot of spinach and arugula. I have a little bit of arthritis in my left hip. The pain was sometimes unbearable. I saw somewhere that greens can cause physical pain because of one of its ingredients. When I stopped eating all greens, the pain went away. It’s very disappointing because I know how healthy greens are.
I think if you are going to state something like this you should know and "name" this mysterious pain-causing ingredient. Otherwise, it is just nonsense.
Spinach and arugula are from different families and it might be worth reintroducing them separately to see if you are ok with one of them. If you try watercress and have problems then you might have problems with rocket too but TBH spinach is the more likely culprit.
@@artieash6671it might probably be the oxelate concentration of some of the greens.. some people have hyperabsorbtion issues of oxalic acid, which can cause this.
I have gout. Spinach is one of my triggers. If I do each spinach, I can't have any of my other triggers for 3 to 4 days. My other high triggers are broccoli, mushrooms, Quorn, other fungi, brussel sprouts, and cauliflower. Alcohol is a trigger; however, I haven't drank in many years. When I have an English Christmas dinner, I have to make sure I have plenty of water and limit all salt as I eat unlimited vegetables and usually have at least 2 to 3 of my trigger veggies. I do not take any medication for gout. I control it through diet alone.
Avoid the spinach but not the arugula. Spinach and Chard are both very high and oxalates and they will build up in your joints and cause arthritic pain. They also leech minerals out of your bones. Arugala is low in oxalates. I went through this myself over a decade ago and as long as you avoid high oxalate grains you should be OK and I do recommend eating other leafy greens because they're so incredibly healthy.
Nutrients from all plants are not absorbed into our blood stream at the concentration level we see with nutrients from animal foods, check Dr. Ken Berry of Tennessee, Dr. Paul Mason of Australia, Dr. Eric Westman of Duke University to name a few for starters, you're welcome, it's not that complex, keep it simple.
The very best foods ARE NOT PLANT BASED. That includes whole grains and fruits. I reversed my diabetes and high blood pressure by switching to a very low carb ketogenic lifestyle.
But by doing that you increased your risk of Cancer, CVD and Stroke significantly. You could have done the same by going very high unrefined Carb and low fat (WFPB) and reduced your risk of Cancer, CVD and Stroke significantly and as a result you would live longer healthier life.
