Love the shift in attitudes from Matsson being in his element back in Sweden, to Kendall using home court advantage in this scene really shows Matsson like a fish out of the water.
are we watching the same show? these small wins for kendall in the last episode and this one are obviously not sustainable imo. I could be wrong but i think the writers are setting him up to really spiral in the final few episodes of the show

I love Kendalls slow progression to a killer in this season. He didn’t flip the switch instantly but since Logan died but he’s slowly gotten more capable and confident in himself. He’s holding his own more and more in each conversation he has with Mattson.
yeah the truth that’s being revealed is that ken was being limited by logan because logan knew that ken had it in him. ken was logan’s true competition, and that’s why he was the most vicious to him. without logan, ken can actually implement the good ideas he has - which he has been made to doubt by everyone around him (who all suck the balls and worship the memory of logan).
Logan prepared Ken for this. I love watching Kendall support both of his siblings. (Especially his reaction to Roman firing 2 head honchos) and accepting when Roman told him he wasn’t going to take the stage.
Fucking dying laughing at "LITERALLY unbelievable!" The way they were fully ready to get into a public pissing contest only to narrowly mask it as a joke at the end was incredible.
Yeah. I'm starting to wonder wether his dad didn't half "push him overboard" in the end of S2 in order to force him to mature and grow up. Because in S1 he really was an immature overgrown kid playing chief. Especially after seeing how well Kendall had done during the hearings. Maybe he thought there was something to be harnessed there that would only reveal itself in extreme tough "on your own" situations.

@@dennisgichohi5392 i think it's more nuanced than that on Kendall's part, this time unlike in the past he's not intentionally trying to be Logan, he operates differently than Logan, see how he got the projections to be exaggerated, didn't have to threaten anyone and he's not fired anyone, unlike Roman who is actively trying to be his father. In season 3 Kendall came to face fact that he can't be his dad, Obviously we see him looking more and more like his dad but the tragic part is that THIS TIME he isn't trying to be his dad, he's just being more ruthless and "making his own reality". TLDR, he's not trying to be his dad, he's becoming his dad and this will not end well but man it's kinda cathartic no?
My personal prediction. Kendall ends up beyond victorious in end. Screwing over Roman thru the election. Roman has a public mental breakdown at funeral giving the speech. Kendall finally ascends the throne alone in the final episode having burned every bridge. His kids hating em. Just like his father before em.
I doubt it. I think Tom is going to burn Shiv. Kendall and Roman not wanting anything to do with that so they turn on her. In response Shiv will tell everybody about Kendall killing that kid in the car accident. Leaving Roman for himself and he will self implode because of the dic pics. Creating a huge vacuum for the others to fill.
Kendall has been slaying Lucas since the Waystar RoyCo+ speech where it appeared to be his death knell after not getting the “clouds” he wanted. He started terrible, but momentum built and he had the crowd eating from his palms. From the Lucas Tweet retort and now the “homophobia” quip. Clean Ken = smart Ken. S1/2 Kendall would've panicked into a bag of blow and hid in a closet. Roman, Shiv, Tom and Lucas -are- were all underestimating him. Logan. KNEW. That was an underlying and NOT a cross out.

Mattson might be a “killer” and he’s obviously smart, but the revelation that he’s not a real coder paired with the missteps he’s made in recent episodes show that he’s really not quite the unbeatable genius psychopath that season 3 made him out to be. Despite being a shrewd businessman, the revelation that he took someone else’s innovation and brought it to market suggests that quite a lot of his success is attributable to basic charisma and luck. Confidence X Good Looks X Being in the right place at the right time X Sheer ruthlessness is more than likely the success formula that made him what he is. His behaviour isn’t typical of a “tortured brilliant mind” but of someone who wants to project that exact image to the world. His choice of outfit in this episode actually reflects more of an insecure desire to stand out as unique rather than the classic misanthropic desire to shun conformity and be left alone. That’s a designer jacket that probably costs thousands of dollars, that’s not an anti-social intellectual, that’s a man seeking attention and approval. His holocaust joke on Twitter (WHICH HE RETRACTED UNDER PRESSURE) and his “your numbers are gay” comment pretty much confirmed for me how vapid he is. Those are jokes that a pre-teen makes, not a serious self-made businessman. His immaturity and impulsiveness combined with his sense of entitlement show that at the end of the day, he’s really just another incredibly lucky “entrepreneur” suffering from an unearned sense of accomplishment, which itself is just the outer layer of what is probably just repressed imposter syndrome. Ironically Kendall, who most will see as the classic rich kid with everything handed to him has worked INCREDIBLY hard and suffered greatly to try to follow in his father’s footsteps. He’s had to develop a razor sharp business acumen and unlike Mattson he’s developed to the point where he doesn’t let his emotions control his behaviour. He knows what’s at stake and how his every word and action can be used against him. Some people might view this as an even back and forth, but if you really zone in on the dialogue here, Kendall DESTROYED Mattson. He had a calm, clever retort to everything Mattson said and in the end, the “genius coder” had nothing left but a gay joke before he passive aggressively hugged his enemy and ran away with his entourage to most likely drown his defeat in drugs. If Living+ showed us anything, the days of Kendall stepping on his own dick might very well be behind him. There’s no guarantees, but after everything he’s been through, he might have very well turned into the smooth operator he only showed us glimpses of in the first three seasons.

Some of these posts. 😂 Neither of them are playing 4D chess, they're both engaged in high level securities fraud and inherently self destructive. Succession to me is about pasting down of wealth / power and how it totally insulates the characters from consequences of their own stupidity and criminality. None of the siblings are serious people and neither is Mattsson.
Everyone forget the only time logan smiles in the show is when kendall throws him under the bus, sadly kendall was stil recovering but now that logans gone and his head is clear Ken will earn the top spot

Yeah, it totally looks like a setup. This is the only parte of the show where the events look too simple to be true. There is no way Matsson would trust on Shiv like that to give her that kind of information. The whole thing is too public and apparently stagged.
I feel like everyone's sucking off Matsson a bit too much. Like, I get it could be a trick, but everyone is so sure the dude can't miss and isn't just an unhinged guy lol
See, this scene right there is why I think Roman’s last lines in the season are meaningless. He says to Ken: “We’re bullshit.” And you know what? They are. But so is Tom. So is Mattson. So is everyone else. Mattson’s just as immature and just as scummy with his dealings. He’s no more fit to run the company than Ken or Shiv. In the end, the Roys are doomed because they can’t share.
Matson resorting to calling something “gay” like a early 2000s teenager, is exactly how a socially inept “big tech bro” (in their 40s) in the real world would respond to criticism.

@@AlexCell33 true. yet she KNOWS it, but she should FEEL anxiety\fear etc. Body language usually reflect what someone feels, and it's not very easy to hide. that's why interrogators etc pay special attention to body language. In fact it'd be excellent acting if she says she's on Matton's side yet her body language shows otherwise.

At first they were out of focus in the background and before I even knew they would be pulled into the scene I thought it was an oversight by the actors, who maybe just got told to chat in the background as out-of-focus set dressing. Their body language seems so chill and Familie, in contrast to everything I’ve seen of the two of them. I was wondering why the main antagonist would be used in frame in such a way, and then he started actually participating in the scene.
Really? I thought that was a weak comeback. "Gay" as an insult is outdated and politically incorrect, as Kendall was quick to point out. Seemed to me that "gay" was a poor response to Kendall calling out Mattson's "literally unbelievable" numbers.

Nah I dont think so, that would be a dumb plot twist, Mattson is smart but he's not a mastermind, this show is about rich powerful people playing games but every one of them have flaws and vulnerabilities, Mattson is a drug addict sociopath so it makes sense he has hidden dirt that can be used against him.
There are like three episodes left. No this is mattison, he’s not a serious boy like people think. Called it from the beginning. Saying you have fake numbers that go against you is dumb and wreckless with a giant purchase about to happen.
I think the show will end with Kendall making a decision to either do the morally correct thing & deny himself becoming his father or give in to the corruption. I think he might give in sorta like a reverse Luke Skywalker situation.
I thought that Matsson was shooting off at the mouth. I did not take what he had to say seriously. IMO, men will lie about two things: sex and money. So it was no surprise about inflated India numbers by Matsson or Living+ nonsense from Kendall.
Tbh I don't think he was competent enough at the end. He maybe can get to a decent level with time, but he always finds a way to self-sabotage himself and destroy his own progress, maybe even causing Waystar to downfall. So I reallyyy have my doubts if Ken was worthy enough

I don’t think He’s going to fail because the only reason why he didn’t peak before, was because of his father that did everything he could to undermine him.
Logan was hardly ever a real guy, either. His kids want his power but I get the sense none of them are quite willing to throw all of themselves at it the way he did (“and that’s a good thing”, as per Nate). You could tell Logan’s entire life was the pursuit of power. I think the three kids want to live in some fantasy lnd where they have that same awesome power of their father but they’re still their own individual selves, and at this point it just stands to be seen whether they’ll succeed at sacrificing theirselves entirely for the power.
I was infuriated to see the Nate character coming back. Logan or no, Kendall runs a multinational news corporation, they could obliterate this Nate person in 24 hours with fake rape accusations or anything, really. And they should
Matsson is playing them all. Why would his top PR woman just give out info like that. More importantly why would he openly humiliate her if she knew such damaging things.
But then why would he confirm it when Shiv (whom he thinks is part of his crew) accused it of it ? He doesn't need to test her or anything because she has already betrayed her brothers and he knows that.

@@robrick9361 in norway, ken and Roman's strategy was shitty, they were also reeling from logan's death and were unstable. now, kendall seems good after his presentation which kind of bolstered him. the blood story is real cuz rome found out about it by one of the ratfucker employees at waystar. the india thing is likely real because matsson confirmed it to shiv without her having to mention it in the first place.

Now that you mention it, it has that feel. But I suspect it's not intentionally symbolic; rather just built into the whole display of over-the-top fake affection used to express actual hostility.
Probably I am going to be wrong but I think Mattson (and his team) are playing with the Roys. All the blood thing, the India’s numbers, the weird behavior of Matsson pretending to be some weirdo talking too much, is like too obvious to be “real”. It’s like he wants them to believe he has no control over the situation.
I know what you mean - when he mentioned the blood thing a few episodes ago I remember thinking that if this wasn’t Succession, then that’s a wacky-ass story that Shiv is an absolute fool for taking seriously. However, since Succession can dip into the surreal and unbelievable sometimes, I’m on the fence about whether it’s “totally unbelievable” or “believable within the show.” Shiv’s own husband used his employees as furniture and regularly abused Greg, after all.
Ive been thinking the same, but also it would totally line up with him wanting to close the deal fast and how he kept pushing and adding more money despite being such a terrible deal if he doesnt get what he wants, if hes truly fluffing his numbers and being a sex creep then it would make sense to buy and merge with Royco so his company doesnt tank anything thats coming from them He also would probably end up pinning the inflated numbers to Roy's subsidaries if it ever came to light, cleaning his own hands
Seeing Ebba smirking under Matsson like an evil villian's concubine made me think the India numbers are a fake out to throw Ken and Rome off track. Still got a crush on her tho lol
