HSS has been an excellent guide and mentor in my sartorial journey. Most of all I appreciate the honest reviews and advice concerning brands, materials and style choices. I got even persuaded to make a visit to the Pini Parma store in Brussels, based on your review a while back. And I can very much validate your findings about the brand. It is awesome; very friendly and knowledgable staff, fabrics of the highest of shelves and a classic style which will never go out of fashion. Although the pants are a tad too slim for my (mountaineering) legs. However, I cannot but feel a bit disappointed about this video. I'm a little lost in how to interpret this new partnership/sponsored content by Suitsupply; especially compared to how evaluative/critical and genuine your other reviews feel compared to this one. I do hope HSS will be able to keep on delivering honest and genuine reviews/advice as in the past and that sponsored videos will stay to a bare minimum; because I would be a bit lost without them.
@hespokestyle
@hespokestyle Год назад
Thank you so much for your comment and I appreciate your concerns. As you can tell--assuming you watched the entire video--this is less of a review and more equal parts collection showcase, overview of the custom process, and lookbook. That was by design and a result of negotiations on our part because a sponsored "review" cannot be genuine and the reason I do not do sponsored reviews. We made that abundantly clear. You will recall from my previous Suitsupply review that I discussed many positives of the brand. Yes, I have had poor showroom experiences in the past and they were aware of that. Everything I put out on the channel, especially when it is something that I've had certain sensitivities to in the past, is done intentionally and with the utmost consideration. Had the brand not agreed to let this be an overview and lookbook and insisted on a "review" you would never have seen this video.

For many many years I have been being there suits, coats, shoes, trousers, shirts, ties etc. It is cheap and they alter everything in half an hour. You can buy there beautiful suits for 149€ coats for 100€, blazers for 50€ to 75€ max. All of a very good quality... 👍👍 I always leave the shop with a smile on my face....

I have three suits bought from 2018-2019, all Lazio fit. I don't have anything pricier than them, so I'm a novice. I like the suits a lot (fitted but not absurdly so). I will say that the three jackets had variances in fit (compared the first one I bought that was in stock/ready to wear). The "custom" one I got was slightly more loose, then the third one I got in stock was tighter than the first two. Lazio is too slim for me, but I had each jacket let out slightly. However, I'd choose that fit for myself over the others--I'm built similar to Brian (though his timepiece collection alone makes him stronger and taller than me lol). After three years, no quality issues (though they haven't seen that much time since 2020 since I've been remote ever since).

Bravo on this video. I recall your earlier videos and was disappointed in your review because I wanted it to be more positive. However, I have to admit that my first two m2m suits from them were not 100% what I wanted in terms of fit. One issue that bothered me was the standard length of their rise. I like a classic length and many modern slacks have a short rise. This feature bugs me. After discussing my past issues with one of their consultants, she fitted me for my 3rd suit. A linen, silk, cotton blend and they nailed the fit. I would go as far as saying it's the best fitting suit I own. I believe the negative issues I had with my first two suits from SS were a result of me not knowing how to communicate what I wanted and did not want. For example, the rise on the pants. I did not know this was an issue for me until I tried on their slacks and was not pleased with something about it. It wasn't obvious because you don't really think about that. However, I knew that the pants fit differently than another pair I own which is not from SS and has a higher rise, which I prefer. It's things like that which make a difference. I am glad they were able to deliver this time. I think it really boils down to having a clear communication with the consultant about what you like and don't like when it comes to fit.

I recently purchased a suit from Suit Supply for my upcoming Wedding (not a tux) - Double Breasted style, just like yours! I'm 5'5 140 pounds, and was in between the Standard and Wide Peak Lapel. My initial thought was standard but the two experienced stylists there told me to go wide. Not gonna see the final product for 3 ish weeks, but hoping you could tell me your opinion as well! I believed and trusted their opinion, but I'm second guessing it a lot!

Where I live is very hot and humid during the summer, and I have several knit polos from various companies. I've been building up my suit wardrobe and from my point of view why not start with suit supply. After all if it wears down the cost is less than bespoke. And since I don't really need to wear suits for work, it's all for leisure. But to remain practical I don't want to worry too much about a jacket being stained or ripped up on a sharp item someone I happen to bump into. I couldn't get that ease of mind if I was spending thousands on bespoke. So I went deep, ordered a polo coat, several jackets, trousers, some staples such as a turtle neck, polo and a bunch of shirts. So to start off with the custom shirts. Again I'm not familiar with bespoke yet, but the shirts do fit fantastic. I have them detailed to my liking and little details such as mother of pearl buttons, because why not?! Custom shirts I highly recommend. And for the price you can quickly build up a solid base of an array of shirts. A white french cuffed and collar shirt like Gordon Gekko is being made and should arrive pretty soon. Than the jackets. I went to town on the jackets. Since they were odd jackets, i might as well go bold, with wide peak lapels, nice bold shoulders, and on one did the Milanese hand stitch button hole, yeah it was a bit much. And all unconstructed since I'm wearing them in Sydney, Singapore and Dubai as the warmest places apart from northern Europe in winter, that's where the coat comes in. Patch pockets on all of them and one a sartorial rolled button (2+1). Yeah that's a bit much as well. The trousers I really like, specially the 'braddon trouser' with a high rise, almost a gurkha trouser but a bit neater, they do have the option to have a true gurkha made, which will be next on the list. Cotton off white a great staple and a s110 navy and traveler fabric (wrinkle free) grey. And yes got myself the cuffed trouser and he is right, it's the best thing to travel with. It obviously dress better than gym pants and you will look sharp and it's comfortable as ever with a s110 fabric and obviously unlined. I wear them with a pair of Adidas Ultra Boosts to keep the ultimate ultra comfort. Great to do do the walking on sneakers at the airport. Than the coat a beautiful navy herringbone polo coat. Double breasted, perfect with plenty of room to wear a full suit underneath when travelling to Europe during winter. Now I can't help myself to get a camel coat single breasted. A couple of years ago I got a suit supply suit, and it wasn't the best thing, The jacket was a bit off, but i must add it was an off the rack item and the trousers were in the same fabric but not as a part of the jacket. But the recent odd jackets are all custom and fits perfectly. So I'm ready to order a couple of suits soon as well. Got my eyes on a beautiful s150 blue fabric. And I do need a tuxedo as well, and the options they offer are wild. My first tuxedo was from Vietnam, when I visited Hoi An the capital of (cheap) tailoring. I wanted a tux just like James Bond in casino royale. It wasn't a good suit, it didn't fit well, the fabric is terrible. But I consider it a souvenir, and for $200 bucks ow well, I supported the local economy. I'll gladly hand Suitsupply over my money for a lot more pieces, yes the staff can be a bit slick from time to time, but I have a guy now that I do appointments with and he offers the right suggestions, advice not to do something if it doesn't work for me. I'm super happy. It might feel unpersonal to some, but remember this is MTM at best, and the value they offer is pretty crazy. So I take the service for what it is.

Georgetown Suitsupply regular here. Personally, I think their knitwear is fantastic. I've got six of those buttoned and buttonless polos, both the cotton/silk and wool, and I'll be getting more very soon. The crewnecks are great too, although sleeve length is a bit odd. The worst part of the Suitsupply experience for me is the custom offerings. First and foremost, the young gentlemen who work at the Gtown location are not men's style experts nor are they trained tailors. Ignore the theatrics. Moreover, the custom shirt fitting process is very poorly conceived. Time and time again, I've been disappointed with the shirts I ordered there. I've returned all but one of them. For MTM shirts I strongly suggest Proper Cloth. They have more fabrics (including the usual luxury fare: Thomas Mason, Canclini, Reda, etc.) and more variable parameters to optimize the fit. The prices are slightly better too. I haven't tried Suitsupply's suits or sportcoats, mainly due to my experience with the shirts. All I would say is if you have access to a bespoke tailor shop, get your suit made there. It'll cost more, but it's worth every penny.

Unfortunately the closest suit supply to me is about four hours away in Atlanta. I’m really interested in getting a made to measure suit but idk if it’s worth the drive. My other options are Indochino and Hive and Colony

Would highly recommend you check out our selection. Much better prices than suitsupply, higher quality and much better service. And if you're contemplating suitsupply, that tells me you're not overly concerned with price so I wouldn't even entertain those other options. Here is a link to our shop: hespokestyle.com/shop/

Been a great fan of Suitsupply for years. However, in the last year they really raised their prices to a level (especially with MTM) that they are no longer the best deal on the market in my opinion. More ‘exotic’ fabrics will take you into the € 700-800 range, which is just too much for what you get. For the money they ask, it would be interesting to see different inner fabrics, for instance. Also feel they have a tendency to make everything slightly too tight. As an alternative, Pini Parma might be a better deal to get a great quality suit. Sure, it is not MTM, but it is of far better quality than Suitsupply.

I think that their MtM is reasonably priced especially if you live in the U.S. A Holland & Sherry fabric would roughly cost 900$ but it is the same figure in the U.K. £900. So, depending on where you live, you may save a hefty penny on some quality cloth like H&S or Loro Piana. As for the fit, you can customise this when ordering your suit albeit it is an issue in their RTW especially for the thigh.

Used to be into SS but prices have really shot up and I have grown to prefer a less slim trouser these days. Hence becoming a bit of a Spier and Mackay addict, they have a slightly more mature style overall. Although the crap strength of the £ is making it less attractive now unfortunately.

Brian What material is the most wrinkle resistant material for dress shirts in your expert opinion? I am beyond pissed. I have gotten some shirts made and after talking to the mfg they recommend 100% cotton twill. I light starch it and basically after just putting it on it is wrinkled to hell. Even just moving my arm back and forth 2 times makes the arm wrinkle to hell. Is this a joke? The shirt material is completely wrinkled before I even leave the house. What material should I look for? Help.

This is your first video that I am watching, and either you don't understand tailoring, or you are covering up for the brand (more likely) due to your partnership. How are we supposed to see how the suit fits if you never button the jacket, or show the back side? Additionally you are always holding onto the jacket with your hands, so we cannot see how the fabric naturally drapes. Additionally, the jacket is around 1 3/4" inches too long, making you appear shorter. And black linen??? This defeats the whole purpose of linen.
