I never saw the point in watching people play games. It never appealed to me. But then for some reason RU-vid suggested a video of yours to me and I've been hooked ever since. Besides the moments of hilarity that have me laughing my ass off, I think a lot of the intrigue comes from watching someone who is extremely good at something. Some of the moves you pull off are mind boggling and I could never hope to do anything like some of the stuff you demonstrate. Thanks for the videos you make, I really enjoy watching them, something I never thought I would enjoy.
same here... there's something unique to this game and this gamer's affability that makes it something different than the let's play trend but does help me appreciate those youtubers in a different light

Hey Ryu, it's called Lunar Magic Memory as a throwback to the unofficial OG SMW Mario Maker called Lunar Magic. The Crescent Moon art is the icon for the application, hence the star in the level! Just informing, have a nice time at SGDQ.
I got the Lunar Magic reference but didn't really see what that had to do with the level itself, is it referencing a specific level in a hack or something?
Yeah that's the logo but it's not in the actual level, they put that in the subworld for the screenshot. If you look at the actual course it doesn't resemble anything in particular (to me anyway). Just seems odd.
Lunar Magic Memory is a reference to the SMW ROM editor Lunar Magic. In SMW, munchers are objects (not sprites). As such, many early kaizo ROM hacks (including Kaizo Mario World) used munchers as spikes. Thus, the entire level is essentially played on Munchers.

Man. Super jarring to watch an older video on this channel and hear ryukhar curse. It's probably silly, but noticing how youtubers change over the years kinda makes me smile.
I was really glad when they changed the Star Ranking section from star count to star rate, but shortly after they removed the ability to filter by time. You used to be able to just search for levels from the last week/month, maybe even year, or all time. That would help with levels like that one at the top that just sit there forever.

i think its really interesting how easy it is to increase levels with simple checkpoints after each section. I mean, the second Level you played wasnt that special in its design but due to the generous Checkpoints it never became repetetive or boring/annoying. So dear level creators, add checkpoints in your Creations! :D
