To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Super Mario 64, I remade it as a series of 2D levels using Super Mario Maker. The final level in this series recreates Tick Tock Clock, Rainbow Ride, Wing Mario Over the Rainbow, and Bowser in the Sky.

how to cheese in 30 sec: rainbow ride. Get the red shell, bring it with you, Go back to first checkpoint, release it. die. start at checkpoint (falling down) cheesed. :) how to cheese with times: Get first checkpoint. Wait for time to end. cheesed. How to prevent. Do not let the first checkpoint float from under the "floor". makes you spawn under it. Awesome levels! Love your work.

That doesn't get you 30 seconds. That gets you about 1 min 45 sec. I explained how to get 30 seconds in another comment. And if you wait for time to expire, you will not get anywhere near a world record. ;)

Xakzii also here is anorher thing. Beat a boss that has no one way doors then bring the boss key back to the start by beating a different level and wahla final

You should have added a goomba that just falls off a platform in Bowser in the Sky to represent the infamous mystery goomba. (You can't kill him)

I can see immediately how they're cheesing your level. Where you've placed the flag at the gate, it's UNDER the platform, so if they trip that flag, then die, they'll spawn under the platform and fall down directly to Bowser's level. Maybe somebody's already pointed this out by now - they've certainly had enough time - but there you have it.

They grabbed the first checkpoint, died by the timer and restarted (with 500 sec on the timer) on the lower side of the checkpoint (you always do that). Then they just played the bowser in the sky level and finished the level

Put a checkpoint after the checkpoint were u get after the stars If u die after u spawn at the 2nd checkpoint Before u spawn at the first one by putting the checkpoint (both blocks) on top

Anyways, cool designs, and thanks for explaining what everything is supposed to be, as I am currently still stuck on the very first level of Mario 64, can't figure out how to damage the boss bomb. I could go look at a FAQ, but we didn't have internet back in the day. If I can't beat the first level on my own, the game isn't worth it.

The way people cheese is cuz the die on purpose after getting the checkpoint That’s next to da pipe in the save area don’t put it half way through the ground cuz they spawn at the bottom of of the flag so tie skip all of ur lvl

If you take the koopa out and also the spiny launcher in rainbow ride, it can prevent people from carrying a shell through to the save area and killing themselves after the checkpoint. You may have time to carry a bob omb as well to do the same thing.

Just tried out the tail trick trying to get a shell up there and it is possible. Still trying to figure out how they did it in 29 seconds, though.

There is a glitch with the checkpoints where if you die,you'll spawn at the bottom of the checkpoint unless there is a fully-solid platform

That was on purpose. Demake is a term people use for when you remake something as it might have looked on older technology. Since I'm taking a 3D game and making it 2D, demake seemed more appropriate than remake.

For the 30 second cheese, I suspect someone brought a shell from Rainbow Ride and used it to quickly kill themselves after taking the post-level checkpoint.

Right, no upwards throwing in SMB3. I forgot about that. Maybe some incredibly precise flight to get through the switchback section? It's probably possible, although it would be extremely tight unless you're ducking. Although at this point I'm just reaching.

Nah, I couldn't fly there. It was a good attempt at stopping cheese. But no, I just did a running jump up the vine, let go of the shell, and immediately hit it with my tail to get it to the top of the vine. But that is not how I got less than 30 seconds. The koopa shell method got me a time of about 1 min 45 sec.

how to stop the cheese do not put the checkpoint half way in the ground you always spawn on the bottom of the flag and the time is from when you spawn to winning so what they're doing is hitting the first checkpoint hitting startover then beating it that way so don't put the flag halfway next time [your welcome =)]

Thanks! I'm not sure what's next. My current Mario Maker work in progress is part of a collaborative project called Super Discord Bros 3. After that, I might make the 4th level in my Minecraft series.

My hope is that they release Super Mario Maker 2 on Switch and add SMB2 as a game style. It would be sad to do it without really having the 4 playable characters. I could use amiibo coustumes, but it's not the same...
