Now let's take a look at some commercials from the original Super Mario All-Stars, straight from the 90s. Wild times. Some UK ads feature British comedy legend Rik Mayall.
"Mario throwing fireballs, Mario throwing turnips, Mario negotiating an arms deal. Okay maybe not" This is one of the best commarcials I've ever seen for anything ever.
if anything the lost levels is pretty underrated. I used to have a pretty low opinion of it but grew to like it a lot after playing it a bunch. It's just that it's so much trickier than SMB1 that it's offputting at first.
@@JackOfen no, it is bad because of the bullshit like mandatory invisible blocks, troll warp pipes that send you back to world 1, jumps that ate impossible if you get to near os the chasm because the screen wont scroll back, etc.
@@pvbferreira Invisible Blocks are fine, never been killed by one. The warp pipes are dickish, but I like trolling developers, no reason to throw a tantrum about that. And that last part isn't true, because in the Mario Bros 1 Engine you don't need a running start. Just hold B, press Right and A. Easy
@fruitstar2522 Naturally. They were rivals but then Sega screwed it really badly with the Saturn (thanks to their American brand didn't "get along" with the main office in Japan) and after releasing The Dreamcast, they just tossed in the towel and became third-party developers.
@@Xetheon inb4 *Nintendo then:* Here's an actual remaster of our past 4 games! $4 please *Nintendo now:* Here's ALL the games you played already...oops forgot one...uh...c-can we have $60 pleeease?
I feel bad for Mario Bros the lost levels He's like "all the greatest games... And the lost levels" Thats like if a 3d all star ad said "all the greatest 3d Mario games, and Mario sunshine"
I don't think your reading the tone of the line right. They're not saying "three amazing things, and this obscure side note" they're saying "three amazing things, and this never before released thing that you'll love".
It's funny how at the beginning of the mario franchise, in French most of the characters names were different from a game to another, even the ad call peach "daisy" and birdo "ostro" 😂
Those adverts are so wonderful. Definitely love that red carpet one (man, Peach is looking so snazzy in that dress!). And amazing that Rik Mayall appears to be in the UK adverts!
I still remember seeing that second SMAS commercial on tv. Man that was way back. My mom even eventually got me that bundle that was advertised on those commercials kinda. all stars came packaged with world and the snes. my mom didn't have to do that whole mail in voucher thing.
Wow I remember how competitive Nintendo and SEGA used to be, and now in the Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Direct Mario and Sonic were in it as pals, oh how time has changed 😂
I remember begging my mom for 3.50. They needed your receipt that you bought the console and she found it. I was dumb and thought that if you mail it out, they send it in a week... I came home DAILY thinking it would come. When it got there after 6 weeks?!? Holy shit. I did my homework at school so I could make sure I could play it!
All the stuff after 0:52 accurately sums-up my life when I got an N64. On a loose note, my first recallable nightmare was not being able to shut-down my NES. Power button did nothing, unplug did nothing. There wasn't a TV, just freaking-out that the power light stayed on. I woke up screaming for my mom and she came in, showed me powering on/off the NES, and I calmed down, eventually back to sleep.....just waiting to get back on it before school. Now things rarely get turned off. Everything goes to rest mode🤗
3:57 "But Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels is so difficult, it could actually unhinge the balance of your mind." 4:04 "...Aren't you that...talentless celebrity women find repellant?"
You forgot one more Japanese Super Mario Collection commercial: that one is mostly the same but at the end it replaced footage from SMC/SMAS with footage from the 1993 Super Mario Bros. film.
2020: He is back again and better then ever, the classic Mario, super mario 3d all stars. Even more mario then before. The best 3d Mario aventures you ever played and then some, but juiced up HD Mario on your switch. Its better Mario, classic Mario, on your phone Mario. Its Metal Mario, its Mario spraying water, Mario flying in space, its Mario on xbox series X ok maybe not. Its Mario just as you remember, get it now on Switch!
I bet that sonic jam for the saturn was sega’s ansure to supermario allstars, Now i remember once i saw those supermario allstars commercials, i fiest tout that nintendo put those originals nes versions of mario games on it,untill 2 years later once i come along to somebody’s birstday, and saw how gorgious all those mario games looked in 16bit, i was mind blown away, Now looking at it after all now, i wish that nintendo added an option to let you choose whether you want to play it in 8bit or 16bit on snes, But hey, with nested emulator, i now finally can play those mario nes games on snes ,albeit mario 3 still yet runs buggy and could randomly crash on the powerpak(unless you play it on snes9x) trough you must avoid the roulette & memory game to prevent crashes in all cases, but still, this is a wet dream that finally have become reality😀😀
