Makes you wonder how mario and zelda has been good for so long.... Must be they focus on fun rather than a dark gritty realistic story about lesbian chickens.
Well no I would hate for that to happen because what makes dunkey so credible is the reputation he built himself of not being able to be payed off and always telling the truth. If Nintendo payed him for marketing his whole reputation would go down the drain and we wouldn’t be able to trust what he would be saying because is he saying the truth or is he being payed to say that?
I consider the Observatory to be better than Peach's castle. Not only did have better music, but it was consistent in being a home to Rosalina while also being full of life with Lumas, Toads, and Luigi.
This is my favorite game of all time. No game in 13 years has even come close to matching it. I love it so much and it makes me very happy just to remember it.
Thats not Wall E you stupid Disney Nerd! That's clearly from "Gex: Space man". I will always remember one of his best lines "Remind me not to play the piano at William Shatner's house"
I love it when Dunkey goes on multi-voiced rants of gibberish paired with non-stop bad ass footage of cut after cut from the game. These videos are art
However being on the opposite side of the spectrum is also bad. Trying too hard to be unique instead of following the formula. Twilight princess, skyward sword, botw. All trying to add their own little twist that just ended up making the game worse. Being a wolf half the game, horrible motion control, removing all classic zelda aspects. Or sonic unleashed, that game with no werehog would be amazing.
@@TheKozzee I didnt call those zelda games bad, also quality is objective but I love them too they are great games. They still made the games worse. Pay attention to what I actually said and dont put words in my mouth

I got a little emotional at Odysseys ending where you capture the guy. You know the guy. That guy. And you just rip ass through the level to escape the moon. It seemed like such an obvious thing to do but I still didn't see it coming. The music, the energy of the scenario, everything was so perfect. I didn't cry or anything. I just remember feeling overwhelming happiness. It was the coolest fucking thing ever.
@@Gunplabro agreed that part really got me excited and in my feels especially the part where you climb up the tower with cappy on the dark side of the moon such a damn good game odyssey is
@@jonathanwilson7949 It was also the first time you get to play as H I M in the main series, something I wanted ever since I was literally 2 years old play SMB on the NES.
I actually like how the Galaxy games have linear levels. Sometimes big open world sandbox levels can be a bit of a drag to play through. There are times where I just want to get things done and over with in those kinds of levels especially after playing though them once. Levels in Galaxy never feel like they overstay their welcome and feel very straight to the point with the missions you play through, all the while still having you enjoy the unique things and aspects about them. This is why I like how linear the levels are in Galaxy and appreciate the uniqueness about them. Definitely my number 1 favorite Mario game for sure. Also, the story of the first Galaxy game is fantastic.
This is my exact issue with Odyssey. Yeah there's lots to do but after the main campaign half the moons are not really fun at all. For example finding 4 nuts for toad in the Mushroom Kingdom, or eating 30 bits of fruits with Yoshi. I prefer having less content but having every piece of content be engaging than having a 100 hour game where 50 hours are wasted on me. Don't get me wrong, I still love Odyssey but mostly because of the main campaign. Not particularly because of the postgame.
Whenever I'm uninspired in life, doing things with no purpose or motive, I like to come to this video. The way you orchestrate your love for this game while remaining truly honest is inspiring to me. It reminds me that I live on this Earth for a reason, and when I put the time and effort that my given life deserves, that I will inevitably reward myself with the feeling of passion, something not to be taken for granted. Thank you, Dunkey.
after I watched this video I went on a super mario rabbit hole and watched every dunkey mario video and a bunch of other videos about the many mario games, listened to all the soundtracks, looked up the history of the game, and spent a hole day downloading the games musics and putting them on spotify
I got to play Galaxy again on the switch and forgot how somber it could be at times. I think it’s the only Mario game with a serious story, which must be difficult to pull off when your source material is a plumber saving the universe from a fire breathing turtle.
YellowpowR I was more thinking the bigger broader games that released with the serious consoles. Like Mario 64 for the N64, sunshine for the GameCube and galaxy for the Wii. I know 3D land was for the 3DS but I think I heard dunked say in a video somewhere 3D land is like galaxy just with the fat trimmed off of it.
What I really liked about the Mario Galaxy hub world is that you felt you were really unlocking it as you played. Its like the world was asleep and now you are waking it up.
Fucking loved this game. The first time I played it at a friends, I was absolutely blown away by the setting and the craziness of the levels. As soon as it was in my hands, I loved every moment of it. I remember getting so excited to see all the new crazy worlds nintendo would come up with. The majestic and dangerous Battlerock Galaxy, the mysterious athmosphere of Buoy Base, and then it hits you with Toy Time Galaxy where. Fucking Freezeflame galaxy is a planet that's frozen but has a lava core. It felt like I was exploring everything that could be out there in space and every level has such a unique personality. It's my all-time favorite game in the 3d-Mario to date, and favorite game ever because of it's absolutely unique setting and athmosphere. Fuck you, these games are better than you ever could hope to be. Thanks dunkey, for rekindling a forgotten flame.
Not exactly. New Super Mario Bros was innovative and new for the 2D games. It proved that 2D Mario was alive and still had places to go. We’re so used to it, but the levels, presentation, and updates to Mario’s move set were fresh. Galaxy 2 set the precedent, since it came out before New Super Mario Bros Wii. They’re very different kinds of sequels, since Galaxy 2 evolved from extra Galaxy ideas and New Super Wii was just a straight up sequel, but it was Galaxy 2 just being more Galaxy that made it possible. Imo, even Galaxy 2 has its own legacy that stands out from Galaxy 1. The 3D game that suffered the most is 3D Land. 3D Land once again managed to do something different and innovative with the 3D Mario series, but that was largely forgotten after 3D World came out. 3D World was seen as more legitimate since it was on a home console, when it really didn’t bring as much to the series as 3D Land. Galaxy 2 gets praise for perfecting and already near-perfect game, which is why it being the same kind of game as the previous one isn’t a big deal. 3D World and every New Super Mario Bros sequel aren’t that same level of refinement for their formulas like Galaxy 2 is, which makes it the best straight sequel.
"If the new super mario bundle is so good, why didn't nintendo even upscale sunshine? and why does the N64 and Gamecube versions look awful compared to a free emulator? Nintendo:
This is the video I didn’t know I needed, until now. Super Mario galaxy was my favorite game as a kid and dunkey just brought all of those memories flooding back. Best video yet
@@asdfoifhvjbkaos Nintendo did try to make out it was more than that with its "co-star mode" but yeah, it was definitely an afterthought to the singleplayer

The editing in these videos is truely the most entertaining thing in Dunkey videos and has nade itself an essentail factor for visuel aids along with the actual footage of these reviews 3:04 is my favourite part as the Comet Observatory transitions from its begining theme to its finished counterpart as Dunkey is talking about it
Yeah, I think both of you are right. I find most grand, and some that are nostalgic - mainly the credits. Listening to the credits makes me sad sometimes, so I try not to do that much
These games are so good that even though I was too young to play ever play them I have such clear and happy memories of my brother playing them, and even though I was never the one putting all my attention into the game I clearly remember the levels and the music.
This is the first game I've ever played, I remember vividly getting the Wii with it for Christmas and it has been such a warm and joyous memory that it's impossible to forget.
I dont know why but when I saw that I just couldn't stop laughing what the fuck is that even from. I've googled "dude spinning around on a horse" like 5 times and NOOOOOTHING
not even kidding, as a kid playing galaxy 2 i would go into the cosmic cove galaxy, freeze the water and just skate around and listen to the music for a long time
I miss when I was young enough that I could just be drawn into the beauty of a stage and want to stay there, just to be a part of that world. For me it was Phendrana Drifts and Manaan from KoToR.
I litterally watched all your "dunkviews" on the super mario games TODAY, and searched for one on mario galaxy, but didn't find one, and now a couple of hours later you uploaded it, out of all days I watched them, and you release this today, sometimes life is wonderful
Me too! I jus bought the 3 game pack of the 3D mario games for my switch today and wanted to re- watch those to know what to expect! So glad dunkey heard our prayers
