Please don’t stop making OM6xx videos brother. We enjoy them so much across the pond. That is one wicked setup and we can’t wait to see it ripping it up!
@lastcarolean3025 maybe, maybe not. Both are pretty wild concepts of ideas. Gale has a pure love and appreciation of engineering and ingenuity. Yes Gale has an almost limitless budget on what he can create but that doesn't mean I won't be fun to see where these trucks stand head to head in what they are capable of.
Thanks for speaking English about American transmissions. You told me what I needed to know about the 4l80 after watching hundreds of hours of videos. Top job ❤
Luke...I know you are a big proponent of the 4l80 - and I'm going to run one with your adapter on my first 606 build that starts next week. BUT....the development of the 8hp and Turbo Lamik controller is getting more interesting by the day. Dreaming of the day I can test one with your EDC pump.
@@straightfowardfab5866 from what I gather of the Baldur solution to run EDC pump - should be able to supply good data to TCU. And unlike the 722.6 - the 8hp70+ can take the power
awesome build lad! Id feed that supercharger into the turbo rather than the other way around. If you've watched any of Gale Banks diesel monster truck videos, he found that feeding the turbos into the supercharger wasn't the best way to do it (he kept slowing the supercharger down and making more power) If you have the turbo pulling behind the supercharger, it will take load off the engine and make more power like that (like the cummins guys).... or just bypass it totally when the turbos spooled.... I'm really interested in seeing what you come up with as doing something like that (to a lesser extent) is what I'm planning to do next year on my OM605
Appreciate you taking the effort to going outside the normal zone on this one! There is so little information on this subject! 🥲Been thinking about doing this setup on my m47 exo car project but really no great grounds where to start atleast in the diesel world :) hope your project succeeds!!
unrelated to the video, but the australians are starting to put the 8hp transmission behind all sorts of performance engines...might want to take a look into a om606/8hp combo for a future build
What transmission computer do they use on the 8hp? A few years back US Shift was working on a 10 speed 10R80 transmission computer. They had a series of videos on RU-vid called Project Silver Bullet which was a 2002 Crown Vic. They have no updates since 2019 and the video series has comments disabled. I assumed they gave up.
Are you going to compound through the blower or have a Y/bypass valve so they flow together once the turbo is spooled? Ive been thinking about a tvs1900 from a 5.0 jag/land Rover for mine.
Luke your a Legend Sir, Obviously it's Going to Work and everyone will Want a superchargered old school Diesel Estate pushing out 450bhp and 900nm Torque. Definitely not what Sidiq Khan wants, he is trying to destroy these very cars off the road. Good Job Diesel Pump have other ideas about ULEZ 💡💡
Thoughts on the best manual transmission in the W210 chassis? I took your video on the transmission guide as being swapping the engine into another platform but curious what stick shift you’d put in the stock chassis
The 716.66x has been proven to take big power by kangaroos team with a good clutch and flywheel. But they may rattle. Depending on your power goals and budget it's by far the easiest since it came in those with a m104. Bmw 6 speed from a 335i stateside or a diesel wherever they were available would be next in line but I have zero knowledge of tunnel fitment issues with a 210.
I can't wait to see this. you posted a video a few years ago with a centrigugal supercharger on an engine on a stand and the idea of supercharging diesels has fascinated me. and I absolutely LOVE turbo into roots. Twinchargeing ftw THAT has been a dream build of mine. such a nutty, obnoxious thing to do, I love it. I wonder if you could get a Gear Vendors overdrive unit mated to a manual valvebody. you'd have to have a high/low switch but it would double your gears Why no lockup? seems like a waste if you want to drive it more than just at a track. maybe it's not as needed in the UK as here in the states? Usually see it with a manual control on a build like this to make bringing it to shows or whatever nicer on the wallet How are you handling the boost curve? seems like at the top end with the roots at high RPM and the turbo at full spool, you're going to be pushing a lot of air. do you have a BOV after the blower, or just after the turbo? both? Additional thought on the lockup, if you're drag racing, it could be the difference between winning and loosing if you can lock up the torque converter at the end of the track and loose that 10% loss (depends on where in the rpm range you're trapping too)
Hi, I love your om 606 videos, and it influenced me to put a NA om 606.910 stock engine on a w201 as a personal project, nothing fancy, it will have no turbo and I aim to to make less than 200 hp tops, so which manual gearbox and diff should I use? I hear and read so many things about 5 speed and even 6 speed models and I cant make up my mind, I seen all your vids on it and though you talk about 6 speed manuals you dont mention the model and the diff, if you can clarify I would very much appreciate it, thank you and keep up the good work.
I'm assuming that the BF109 on your injection pump is a reference to its fuel injection system working in a very similar way? Just with 12 cylinders, and a different control mechanism because it had to do mixture control for a petrol engine.
What's the difference in needed air between a petrol v8 and a 3L turbodiesel? Can it be worked out with compression ratio etc and the fact the turbo and supercharger are compressing air before it gets to the ignition chamber? Just curious 🤔 Is it more hope the supercharger can flow enough?
Nice combi om606 😍. But I gotta add, that transmissions are specified by torque. Not horse power. That nice GM tranny will not be happy with 680hp engine , if it makes 2300 ft-lbs. Like Scania V8. Your double pumped OM606 will probably make 800ish hp? And maybe 1600Nm. Which could be near the limit of that tranny. Because it's advertised 1500hp handling is for gasoline engines, where torque specs are half compared to diesel engines. Just saying. Keep on nice work with OM606 engines 😎
Did you ever see the roadkill Vs gas monkey episode where they raced same engines, the old 2 speed powerglide vehicle gave the modern 8 speed a whipping, that old episode will stick in my mind forever.
@@DieselPumpUK I haven't seen that but I will look it up. By the way I am a big fan of your work.A tuned 606 would work in the peramitures of the hp8 but you need a tuned motor to get the best out of that transmission as 300 hp is it's starting point .you won't brake one with a tuned 606.
So the reason (or benefit) WHY there is a supercharger will come anytime, anyplace, ..... actually I know, because I watch the old US guys stuff as well ... ;-) bababab...
supercharged diesels really sound amazing take a listen to this V46.6 russian v12 beast ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kmE5KNKjCp0.html how about removing the turbo just for the pure sound?
This kind of content should be illegal. Seriously wtf I have to do now tonight eh? Mate think about other people’s lives and the ruin you leave behind. 🤔🤦🤪
Their is something better for your transmission. It’s called a lockup torque converter on a toggle switch. Then when in dyno you know their is no drive line lost and then You can also have tranny brake affects ! Boom 💥
