Greg teaches a ton of NEW fire starting tips, tricks, and techniques that he uses while camping in the bush. He combines some basic knowledge with more advanced methods to give any outdoorsman a better chance at survival in the wild! PLUS he meets up with his daughter to help her reintroduce some raptors (birds of prey) back into the wild after rehabilitation.
Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

Should get a bunch of pallets, choose the rocks that’ll explode. Layer them in the pallets and fire em up. Deliberately try to get them to all explode. I don’t use tin foil usually, can use ti leaf or banana leaf. I really like these fire techniques. This is great. Im a bird person too. Mine free fly outside. You just got to snip 1 wing slightly when they young to keep them around. After about 6 months to a year , they learn whats where without shooting off. They'll want out in the morning (every morning) and want in to roost come dark. Ive played so many tricks on people " letting my birds out" . That irrepairable look falls on them and 30 minutes or an hour later they come flying back inside. ☺️

That whole thing about aluminium being bad for you is only if the aluminum is untreated and "raw". Fairly common in older pottery and very cheap cookware. If the food gets tainted by it you can taste it and smell it. In some cases, especially sour foods, you can even see discolouration. It's fine to use treated aluminum cookware and aluminum foil, there are no proof that it would be bad for you. You want to avoid storing sour foods in aluminum foil however, as the acid can eat through the treated layers. This will eventually end up ruining your cookware. Stay safe and stop worrying about these silly things, people. There are worse things out to get you than aluminum oxides.

I don't see how being concerned about loosing one's... fishin... memory is a silly concept.
@sombersloth7010
@sombersloth7010 2 года назад
@@senatorjosephmccarthy2720 No, being concerned about loosing your memory is not a silly concept. However, that is not what I'm stating. I'm stating the that there are no known connections between ingesting low amounts of aluminium oxides and memory loss. I am also stating that there is no proof that modern cook ware and aluminium foil let off enough aluminium oxides for them to be harmful to use. Ergo, it is silly to worry about loosing your memory when boiling coffe in an aluminium pot and/or cooking your trout in aluminium foil. It's the equivalent of being worried about being mauled by a lion when winter camping in north Finland.

Hey Greg, Please show us how to start a fire using more primitive methods. Like the bow drill. Show us what woods are the best for all parts. I once saw someone use an ankle bone from an Elk to hold the top because it has a perfect natural hole to hold the stick. Maybe it was from a deer. I just looked up about the ferry rod versus magnesium and they said the ferry rod works better. Have you ever tried flint and steel? Keep up the great work. Shelter building, water purification, making your own fishing gear, snares, skinning, all good things for everyone to learn. We may not need it but it damn good to know when you do. Thanks

I love animals as well and would have loved to have earned an income in that field. On the other hand. Eagles and hawks are some serious birds. I went to see some Philippine Eagles in captivity once. Some stupid tourists were trying to get closer to the eagle's cages than was allowed. I looked at my wife and just said "idiots". As soon as one of the guys got close enough, one of the eagles hooked him just a little. The guy was very lucky that eagle didn't get a good hold on him. He still walked away with an open gash on his hand. Eagles are some serious predators.
