"Sharper" or "Sharpen" the saw (07:52)? Who knows...I'm leaving though, in the hopes that someone might get a good laugh out of it. Might need to spell check before I upload next time...

Hey Barry, I apologize but I didn't understand which tests mimic the bubble and answer sheets that you provided in drobox. Can you help guide me on which practice test I should get in order to use your asnwer key and bubble sheets properly?

Did you ever make a video on what mock tests you recommend? And just to be sure @ 10:30: regardless of the AFSC we want, no one should ever focus on the situational judgement, self-description inventory, and physical science parts of the exam?

Hi Elias! First off, thank you so much for providing these videos for us aspiring to be an AF Officer! Quick question: I’m applying for a E to O commissioning program that will only look at the Verbal, and Quantitative Composite Scores. I’ll be taking it in a little less than a month, but I’ve been studying for a few weeks now. Since those two are the scores the board is going to look at, should I only focus on studying for the sub tests that fall under those two scores? Meaning I can also refrain from studying the Inventory and Science sections since they don’t appear on any composite scores, correct?
@eliasbarry
@eliasbarry 2 года назад
Thanks for your kind words. I always recommend that those taking the AFOQT take each subtest at least once just to get a feel for the test as a whole. However, those subtests you mentioned (and situational judgement) don’t need to be studied. To answer your other question, yes you should only focus on those subtests that are important to your application. HOWEVER…if you feel confident with those, I would also recommend at least giving token time to try to make the other subtests a little better. The reasoning behind this is that the board might be more inclined to pick up a package that did great across all AFOQT scores opposed to one that just did great on the non-rated portion if they are close or need a tie breaker. I hope that answers your question.

Also, do you mind telling me what program you’re applying for? If I’m not familiar with it I’ll do some research to see if it might help my airmen who are also wanting to commission. Thanks!

On 6:42 I believe you mixed up the questions on the subtexts with situational judgment having 25 questions and word knowledge having 240 when it’s the opposite. Besides that, thank you for explaining this to us! Could you share that updated question/time table as link as well?

I’m working on a video about the TBAS and PCSM, but there was a change in grading a few years back to PCSM 2.0. Under the new scoring system, I would have scored much lower.

Hey Elias, I am curious. I have a deep passion for aviation and have the privilege to fly for the AirForce. Right now I will be going the OTS route since I am currently in college as a sophomore. My question for you is what kind of mentality is the board looking for in pilots? To extend, what kind of attitude do I need to have to show the board that I have what it takes to be a pilot?
@eliasbarry
@eliasbarry 2 года назад
First of all, make sure you still don't want to do ROTC. You may still be eligible to go that route depending on how much longer you plan/can stay in college. This would give you a much higher statistical advantage to get in the AF and become a pilot over OTS. Back to your question. I'm not a colonel and have never been on an OTS board, but as an AF instructor pilot, I will tell you that those who succeed are those with the mentality of humility and willingness to learn. I can imagine it is the same for the OTS board. Treat it as if it would be a privilege to serve your nation, and that you are ready, willing, and humbled to take that responsibility on. Best of Luck!

@@eliasbarry Thank you so much. I have always seen it as an honor to wear the uniform. I will try for ROTC again. As I remember, my grades were not good enough to join. My current school does not have AFROTC and I did try to cross town

I wonder what the correlation between AFOQT scores and success in rank advancement are? It would be interesting for someone to do a study on this. But I doubt one could ever have access to this information. Too many surprises?

Good video, but just need to point out: the table at 6:50 is incorrect… 30 minutes individually for table reading and block counting is absolutely ridiculous. And you’re not limited to 7 minutes on each math section. So don’t worry lol
