Thank you for this video! I call ahead and inquire about the options as well. If I know that there’s no entree options, I eat my meal at home/etc, and at the restaurant just order whatever appetizer and/or soup is agreeable and eat that as my main meal. I let folks know that I ate beforehand so no one is offended or thinking I’m on a diet 🤦🏽‍♀️😂. Happy New Year 🎊 🎉✨.

Such a helpful video. I definitely forgot to check the menu before I went to a restaurant today and felt awful after eating the food there. But thanks to your encouragement, I've started taking my own wfpb desserts to social gatherings where I know dessert will be (my biggest weakness!)

Been WFPB for about three months. My friends recently started a weekly eating out deal. I very much experienced the oddly overwhelming aspect of it and tried to not make it awkward. Luckily I convinced the group to go to a Mexican place. Don't think I'll be that fortunate every time. I walked in an hour ahead of time and asked about their food. With lack of experience it came about as poorly as this videos bad example. I didn't know how to break it down into a simple term like vegan, and on top of that English was not as fluid in their ears. I read their menu and looked at every option individually. I've heard rumors about oil being normal obstacle but i still needed to do more research on it. I normally don't consume anything with oil so I'm not used to making a decision about it yet. Every item in the vegetarian menu had egg or cheese. I knew from past experience that not all cheese could be removed from certain items, or so i was told by an employee. I did find one option outside the menu i could eat part of. Asked to leave out the sour cream. Forgot to ask to eliminate cheese from the refried beans. Didn't eat and also didn't know about refried beans in general. I might have messed up by eating the refried rice. Ate the guac, pico de Gallo, and whatever the bits of leafy greens were. I ordered the vegetarian fajita and skipped the flour tortillas that were on the side. Consumed a third of the fajitas veggies. The thought of oil possibly being in the that though scared me from eating any more. Seeing that I had eaten enough to not make others uncomfortable anyways, i let the rest go to waste. Then the rest of the time was thinking about the next 100 times that i would be eating out with friends. Kinda not looking forward to this.
