John Schneider is a severely underrated actor. Not only is he one of the most convincing out there, but his portrayal is so good, I found myself striving to be as good of a father to my sons in real life as a fake Jonathan Kent to a fake Clark Kent.

He said "Whitman's sampler" it's a box of chocolates brand. Kind of more the run of the mill box of chocolates. Doesn't have the same romantic feel as a godiva or a Ferrero rocher. My mom and I joke about it because my grandfather use to always get it for his family, and how funny would it be if someone actually gave it to a girlfriend. I personally like them. The Reason for why everyone called the Sheriff by his first name is because The Kent Family and the people of Smallville knew him so well. People in small towns call their sheriff by their first name all the time. Hope that answers your thoughts on this. Been loving the podcast guys. Love Smallville. Been a fan since the launch all those years ago.
@GeminiWolfstarGaming
@GeminiWolfstarGaming Год назад
It's not even the first show to have a small-town sheriff to be called by his first name. The Andy Griffith Show did it. Granted people didn't really call him "Sheriff Andy." Most adults on the show would just call him "Andy." Small town, tight-knit community, everyone knows everyone, a public figure who is well-loved. It makes sense.

I love when Michael makes Tom laugh without even trying 😂.Tom had a lot to say about this episode, he didn't really talk that much last week so it was great to hear him talk more in this one. I thought that making sheriff Ethan guilty was a good move I liked that it wasn't the predictable one. It caught me by surprise when the truth got revealed and I liked that. The build up could have been better but in the end they explained the sheriff's motives so I didn't leave the episode feeling confused.

@@TalkVillePodcast actually Jonathan hit Martha’s dad after losing his cool with him when he went to his office to ask for his help at his place of employment at his law firm. Jonathan did not beat him up. But I do know Martha’s dad will never forget nor will he ever forgive Jonathan for hitting him in the first place. Even though Jonathan apologized for his actions. The only time Jonathan got physical with anybody was when he completely lost it and violently attacked the dirty cop Sam Phlan in the middle of the Beanary coffee shop in front of everybody. In the episode Rogue in season one of Smallville.

Its a WHITMAN SAMPLER guys, it’s the box of chocolates that Forrest Gump is talking about. Whitman Samplers are an assortment of different kinds of chocolates made for tasting. It’s an affordable throwaway gift sometimes given romantically. Lionel is comparing the watch to a mass produced cheap trifle. It doesn’t hold as much importance with him as it would for someone that is poor. Its as important as a WHITMAN SAMPLER is to a “poor” like Jonathan. Lol

According to the Smallville Season 2 book (where they interviewed each of you) the original person wasn't Sheriff Ethan but someone else. The fall that Lionel had here is what likely gave Lionel back his sight. Sometimes severe trauma can bring back your sense of sight. It's discovered in the very next episode he can now see, so it's possible that it takes place a couple weeks later.

Man, had me chuckling the most of the run of this pod! And, I agree with Tom, Annette's 'Why?' really spoke of the Kents' relationship and partnership. As for the Sheriff, in small town you call everybody by first name, especially if you know each other for decades. but, yeah, Sheriff Ethan was very weird. If they called him by his official title, it should've been Sheriff Miller.... We'll see later with my favourite sheriff, how she calls everyone by their last name, because she's the newcomer to the town.

Get some drinks, hit up the pool tables upstairs, hit the dance floor, then head on over to the Denny's a few minutes away to detox lol. SOOOOOOO soooooo happy you guys have been doing this rewatch! Smallville holds a special place in my heart from watching it with my mom, and I’m pretty certain it was the first live action show I ever started watching. I vividly remember hopping on around S9 E2, I saw her watching it when I was 9 and was instantly hooked. I hadn’t cared about Superman at ALL until then and didn’t even consider the fact that Lex wasn’t on the show at that point. Michael had like 2 or 3 scenes in the series finale but it was enough to cement him as MY Lex Luthor and made me want to read up on the comic lore, and I binged the entire series with my mom soon after. We recently have been again all these years later (just started S8) and while I’ve generally gotten more critical of what I watch, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well it still holds up. I feel like almost every character was cast perfectly, I loved the sense of responsibility Tom always conveyed with his performances and the inner good/evil turmoil Michael always conveyed in his, that duality was my favorite thing about the show. Sorry for the long-windedness, can’t wait until you guys get deeper into it!!!❤ (Also please have Sam Jones say “Damn, who’s that?” if you get him on lol)

By far, this is one of the podcast's best (if not THE best) episodes! The banter is at a whole other level. As a listener, I was enthralled by everyone's energy and interesting insights from beginning to end. Thank you, thank you, thank you for every minute!

I love that these guys are doing this. Embrace your classic work, be proud of it and at the end of the day....content over everything...why not remonetize it and give fans a whole new insight while going down memory lane

I think this is a great episode and what I love about both of you guys is that you are sincere about what happened in the episodes and I like how Tom is humble and talks about how he learned from all the other actors and for me personally I think Tom is a great actor and watching Smallville as a kid I always saw Clark as inspiration because i grew up in a farm too :)

Omg, thank you for the comment about Michael Biehn being on your other podcast! He’s my favorite actor of all time and so today I listened to my first two episodes of Inside of You 😊

From what I remember, Johnathan and Ethan had known each other and been friends since they were kids and that was why they were on a first name basis. I agree that Ethan shouldn't have been the bad guy, it honestly just felt like an excuse to have him leave so the new sheriff could be brought in. Lionel survived a lot of things throughout the series (including a kryptonian b*tch slap into a windshield), so he's either one tough bastard or the meteor shower did the same thing to him that it did to Lex(minus the baldness).

I also suspect why people call him by the first name is because it is a small town and everybody knows each other. When I was a school some of teachers wanted us to call them by the first name, instead of "sir", "miss" or "mr or mrs "
