Good to hear this, i bought a SB2000 but im renovating my apartment and everything is packed and boxed and didn't had the chance to listen to it and i just wondered how it performs at low volumes!
Thank you for the compliment and thank you for subscribing! Just a budget-minded home audio junkie, trying to share 20 years of info I’ve picked up along the way, Happy new year, my friend!
I have this sub and could not be more satisfied. Great for music and theater and goes deep to under 20hz. I previously had the popular Polk psw505 but the amp died at 3 years. I liked that sub but the Svs is on a whole different level with no chuffing sounds the Polk sometimes made during loud deep passages since it's a sealed cabinet.
Yes, most definitely! The quality of the bass and the output is definitely better than the Polk PSW505. The Polk is a great sub for the money but there’s definitely levels to this home subwoofer game. Thanks for sharing your experience, I greatly appreciate it!
Good down-to-earth review. I disagree with scoring the cabinet damage vs. Best Buy price, since that is beyond SVS' control. I recently purchased this exact unit directly from SVS for $599. Love the deep, solid bass and especially the curved metal grille, since I live in a cramped apartment and it adds an extra measure of safety against damage. I paired it with a set of Kanto TUK speakers. I am mostly listening to music through this excellent system.
Thanks for another nice review. I have been considering a SVS sub, but it carries a price premium here in the Philippines. So have not taken the plunge yet. Used to have a Mordaunt-Short Carnival 9 10" sub. It was a low power model, and it had some minor scratches, so I was able to get it at a good price brand new. It looked nice but performed inadequately for my home-theater. For music it was okay.
Totally messed that up! Thanks for correcting me. I will update my description, to reflect the correct weight. Thanks again, I truly appreciate it! I want this info to be as correct as possible.
They are great little subs, that’s for sure! If you get two of them properly placed and setup in a 600 SF room, I bet you can get some pretty killer results. Congrats!
@@blazermdx I got a SB-2000 Pro in my bedroom. Large bedroom but it fills the space well. I have two PB-1000s in my family room and two PB-2000 Pros in my basement. All SVS subs hit hard. Also, I had to sell 7 handguns and finance some of my procurement since I purchased stereo equipment to go along with the subs. Well worth it and I look forward to your posts about all of your finds.
Did you see the sale on the previous generation 2000 subs SVS is running now? That might be the best move, at the sale price. The SB1000 is a great sub and I think you’d be very happy with a pair in a room that size but if you can grab a pair of the 2000 lineup at the sale price, it would be worth the extra cost.
I have a opportunity to get one of these for $300 I currently have a PB 1000. Should I make the upgrade? Will the 2000 still fill the room since it's sealed?
I love your profile photo. Haha! Ported subs, generally speaking, have more output than sealed subs. With that said, sealed subs usually benefit more from room gain. It really depends on your room, unfortunately. Im in a small room and I love the placement options and the room gain I get from having 2 sealed subs. But I know I’m leaving some output on the table. That’s a great deal though so I’d grab it and mess around with running them both. Hopefully you can keep them both but if you can’t, you should be able to easily get your $300 back out of it. I love testing things for myself, so I’m a bit of a nut. If you grab it, report back on your findings. Im sure others would benefit from this experiment:)
Hey, nice video! One question, my room is about 12 sq ft... is this an ideal subwoofer for that amount of space, and what would be the best spot to place it? Thanks!!
Hmm. That’s really a tough question as $1,000 gets you a quite capable sub. For music listening, with a budget of $1,000, I’d probably go with a HSU ULS-15. If you can stretch the budget, I might go with dual SB-2000’s, when on sale. How large is your room? That’s where we should start this conversation.
SVS makes killer subs, I was happy when you file mine folks started having access to the brand, which is great. I know you have to pay an arm and a leg for SVS over there but the more subwoofer options the better, in my book. This is a quality sub, with great performance, at a reasonable price. At least the price here is reasonable:)
I have an opportunity to purchase 2 SB2000s for the same price as the SB1000 Pros... I'm stuck on what i should do. Having the DSP app is something i believe i would use however hard to pass up on the price od two SB2000s. Thoughts?
I’d definitely grab those SB-2000’s, over a single SB-1000! No questions asked, if they are fully functional. I like having the internal DSP but if you have room correction built into your receiver, the extras the Pro series offers becomes less important. I just really love the SB-2000’s though. They punch way above their weight, especially at the same price of the SB-1000’s. If I were in your shoes, I would reach out to SVS to confirm as I don’t have any experience with any of the pro subs just yet but I do have experience with the SB-1000, which was a great sub. I definitely prefer the SB-2000 though
Hmm, that’s a tough question to answer. I haven’t had the opportunity to try out the SW-115 sub but I would imagine it would have more output with similar useable in room extension. The woofer size and box volume of the Klipsch would make it difficult for the SVS to overtake it in key areas, when it comes to home theater use. Again, I haven’t yet owned that particular Klipsch sub so I’m just going off what I’ve read.
I love my Rythmik sub also. With SVS or Rythmik, it’s hard to go wrong. Just make sure you get the right sized sub, to your room. SVS and Rythmik can help you there. The L12 looks like a great sub but I haven’t heard it. Let me know what you decide on:)
I tried dual SVS ultra sb13’s. Tons of output, but not as controlled, tight and musical as my dual Martin Logan grottos. I sent them back. I think it must be the servo technology on the grottos that makes them so tight and musical. I too think I’m gonna try the Rythmik L12’s. I’m thinking that servo is where it’s at.
Call and talk to Brian at Rythmik, he knows his stuff and should be able to help you pick the right sub for your room. I’m pretty surprised to hear you say that about the SB13’s, if I’m honest. That sub is known for having accurate and punchy bass but you’re correct, it’s not Servo controlled, which your ears might prefer. The HRS-12 has more output than the SB-2000 but it sounds like accuracy is most important and I would give that edge to the SB-2000. Please let me know what Rythmik subs you end up with and how you like them:)
Average Guy Hi-Fi Thanks for your reply. The SVS subs were total bone crushers for sure, very nice, especially in HT, but no matter how I configured them, I couldn’t get the super tight and lively, “bouncy” base on music I was accustomed to with my ML Grottos (servos). Had I never had the grottos in my HT I bet I would have never known the difference. But I got spoiled. I want that tight, fast, base again. I also tried a pair of RSL speedwoofers. Great performers. For my medium sized room I think they sounded better than the SVS’s and they were only $400 each new! Pretty unbelievable. They were so good I almost kept them, but they still just weren’t exact enough. So for my next purchase I’m leaning Rythmik on faith that their servo technology will do what I crave. What about Sunfire? I one heard one many years ago and I remember hearing a very satisfying smooth base in a small package. How are they vs SVS?
As you know, my room is pretty small, so a properly tuned sub, in the right space, energizes this room. The difference between the SB-1000 and the SB-2000 was that the SB-2000 hit the lows a little deeper and energized the room more. It would be a pretty good route to go SB-2000 if you have a larger room or you listen at higher levels. Definitely better to have too much, than too little when it comes to bass. I’m not even what you’d call a “bass-head” like many here, or anything. I like clean, deep and impactful bass and both of these great subs provide that.
Greg, I have both the 1000 and 2000 Pros, the 2000 Pros dig deeper and hit a bit harder, however the 1000s sound absolutely wonderful. I listened to mine last night till after 9 pm until I forced myself to go to bed. They are bangers but the 2000 Pros are ultra bangers. Either will will rock you. BTW it took me much longer to tune the 2000 Pros since they use the SVS App. BTW SVS have the 2000 non-pros for sale in their outlet for $699. I got the 2000 Pros from their outlet.
Yes! The Polk is a decent sub but this would be a noticeable step up. It will dig deeper with less effort and will do a much better job pressurizing the room. The SB2000 was on sale for $500 the last time I checked. Also, shock out the REL HT/1205 for $449. Another excellent deal
@@blazermdx The one thing I dislike about SB-2000 is that metal looking non-fabric front speaker grill. I wonder if the SB-2000 Pro fabric grill is interchangeable???
Are you keeping your eyes out for used or are you planning on going new? Duals is definitely the way to go, especially if you have a difficult room. I hope you get them soon, my friend!
I am torn between the svs sb2000 and the martinlogan 1500x .... someone could help me ? The Martin logan is used and the svs is new ... thanks in advance for your opinion !
What type of system are you trying to buy? Home theater? If you are looking to jump into the home theater arena, you will need a receiver, at least 5 passive speakers and a subwoofer or two. The receiver will power the 5 passive speakers and the subwoofer will connect to the subwoofer/LFE output on the receiver, since subs like this are powered. If you give me some more info of the system you are trying to build, I might be able to help you out. Happy Thanksgiving, if you live here in the States:)
@@blazermdx I would mainly use it just to listen to music in my mancave so maybe just some speakers? Idk lol i just love a lot of bass Happy Thanksgiving brother 🙌🏼🦃
If you are just looking for music and good bass, I’d probably just grab a pair of used tower speakers with a minimum of dual 8” woofers and a powerful but older receiver. People sell very high quality receivers for cheap, due to video format changing yearly. You don’t need video processing so you can save a ton here. Just add a subwoofer down the road, if you feel you are lacking bass. This sub or other subs like it, will just connect to your receiver. Thanks again my friend!
I haven’t personally owned the SW-115 so I’m not really sure. I would expect that 15” Klipsch will have more output and extend lower than this 12” sealed sub. Now when it comes to bass quality, I bet the SVS will have the edge here. The SB-2000 is a very quick and detailed sub. I’m not sure if the sale is still going but SVS was running a sale on the PB and SB 2000’s. I’d probably prefer a pair of SB-2000 or PB-2000 over that big Klipsch but again, no experience with that particular sub.
I'm really surprised Best Buy would sell anything approaching SVS level (not a place known for selling quality electronics)...but to find an actual SVS there is downright shocking...lol
I think SB-1000’s would be a nice choice, in most rooms. I was really impressed with the SB-1000 I reviewed. You have to be patient with SVS, on the 2nd had market. The word is definitely out so if any SVS subs pop up they sell quickly. Thanks for stopping by, my friend!
I’m starting to notice this sentiment on the audio forums. I have loved just about every SVS sub I have ever owned but they are definitely more difficult to setup correctly, especially when compared to my REL Predators. I also think the reason people are turning on SVS slightly is the price increases but mainly they don’t seem to have as much slam and more deep bass, than other subs I’ve tested. The sealed models seem to help with the slam, in my humble opinion. Still a good company though. They just need to make some adjustments!
