Haha yes, it got a bit warm under the lights! I love Solstice too...sooo sparkly! Second vid is up where I do a whole painting with all the inks. I made a bit of a mess, lol! 😆

Thanks for this Becky, you did a great job of swatching. I couldn't help thinking... this is a pre-Covid video, and then if you thought the fires and heat were bad, what was coming would be far worse. We have a girl in IRC chat who lives in Sydney and as these events occurred we were aware of difficulties you were in at that time, then Covid struck and it must have seemed as if troubles would never end... but it does and will! This all has a lifespan, then we realize how much better life is and we appreciate the good times even more. Blessings to you. ❤️

Yes, last year was an endless parade of disasters, and I often think back to just before the pandemic hit, and how we all just had no idea how insane things were going to be! So many months of lockdown in Melbourne 😭

I just bought the 2021 inkvent calendar (it's not here yet), but keep watching videos cause I can't wait !! The colors all look so lovely !!

I'm so happy with your videos 😃 I have the set and I find that quite a number are a bit too light for my usage with pen, and you reminded me we can use inks with brushes too, so your swatch will be very helpful. Also, the shimmery yellow looks nice with a flex nib 😃 See you

Thank you for posting. I bought some mistletoe ink today and was wondering what the other colours look like. My local shop didn't have the full range, but will go back to pick up a couple more bottles based on what I've just seen. Seasons greetings and snowstorm look great to me.

You're welcome! There are some really gorgeous colours in their range. I love the look of the big bottles that they come in now, with those little feet! I've had to restrain myself from buying them all. 😂

Only one subscriber - now you have 188! Congratulations! I love the Snow Storm and the Gold Star. What a fun advent calendar! Speaking of ink, will you be participating in Inktober this year? If so, will you be doing it with ink, fine liners, watercolor, or a mix of them all?

That calendar was great fun! I did Inktober for a couple of years, and am not sure if I am going to this year or not. I will probably decide in September :) I usually only work with ink, either in pen form or bottled. Lately I've really been getting into drawing with ballpoint pens so I may even do that! We shall see :D How about you?

@@BeckyTregear Yes, I'm definitely participating. The last two years, I've done it according to the official rules, but I'm thinking I might do it with watercolor or something similar this year. Not sure yet, though!

Hi Becky, I am coming back to this video because I found out that Cultpens will sell another of these calendars (red this time). I love the idea of having an arty advent calendar (I'm still a kid, I suppose, lol). Now I am not a calligraphy artist at all and not sure what I would use these inks for. Would they be suitable for painting as well? What about lightfastness? Thank you!

I'm waaay ahead of you on that one; I preordered this year's one as soon as they announced it! 🤣 I really hope it ships in time for Christmas. They are fountain pen inks for writing, so they can be used in those, with dip pens and also they work a bit like liquid watercolours. They aren't waterproof at all so they re activate with water. Probably not very light fast but I really don't know for sure.

Do you know if these inks are lightfast?

My guess would be probably not; they really are designed for fountain pens and writing in books, but I haven't noticed any fading with them , so as long as they aren't constantly exposed to direct sunlight they should be fine. 😊
