Hi, I'm John Browne. No. Not that guy but this is my real name.
I'm an engineer by day and hopeless gear addict by night.
I got a Synergy Diezel Herbert module earlier this year and I Have been meaning to shoot it out against my Diezel Herbert mk II for a while. I've been messing with the module a lot. When I opened the module up I noticed a jumper with the label GAIN MODES which got me quite excited. With this you can alter the character of the two channels of your Herbert module.
WARNING: Open up the module and switch the gain modes at your own risk. I'm no responsible if you f*** this up!
I used a 2009 Gibson SG Raw Power in drop C# with a Seymour Duncan Black Winter in the bridge position for this. The module is placed in a Synergy SYN-2 which was hooked into one of the Herberts loops using the 4-cable method. The Herberts power section went into my Two Notes Torpedo Live loadbox with a GGD Studio Cali Cab IR.
When boosted, the module was boosted with a Deadweald Duality DX in green mode (tubescreamer) with gain at 0 and tone and volume just over half way up.
Here are some time stamps to help you navigate:
01:39 Demo set up
03:36 Red channel in high gain mode and blue channel in low gain mode (stock)
04:23 Both channels in high gain mode
05:00 Both channels in low gain mode
05:57 Both channels in low gain mode boosted
06:31 Both channels in low gain mode boosted, midcut on on red channel
Stay tuned for the full Synergy Diezel Herbert module vs Diezel Herbert mk II video coming soon!
