Today's video is Episode 4 of the rebuild series of the salvaged 2020 TRD Pro Tacoma! We take off and then replace a damaged fender on the passenger side of a Tacoma. While a fairly difficult and time-consuming task, this was pretty cool to do from a learning standpoint.

lol it helps to have a friend. My friend and I unbolted the bed from the frame, lifted and slid the entire bed over to the passenger side to get the bolts between the cab and bed.

I just finished pulling off my R rear fender panel. BTW, I found a much quicker way to remove the rear bumper... just remove the 5 bumper to frame bolts on each side then unplug the trailer connector and license plate connector. It comes off as a complete unit. It's 10 times faster that dissembling the the dozen separate pieces and the variety of fasteners.

Thanks for a great video! Yesterday I 'brushed" passed my backhoe bucket and managed to just snag the lip of my Tacoma rear fender! The fender crumpled like aluminum foil. So I'll need a new rear panel. I was on the fence with doing alot of dent pulling, and reshaping those compound curves, then filler...but after watching your video I can see replacing the whole panel looks easier.

Another great video Chloe! Try some fast fit Mechanix wear gloves. They fit snugly and you still have dexterity and protection. I think you are right about that telephone pole. And it looks like Cody is ready go hit some trails!

Great video. I just dropped my 2017 Tacoma off today with almost identical damage to the Collision shop. They are also replacing the panel. I was intrigued on what that process actually looked like. Im guessing mine is just a few extra steps because its the drivers side with the game fill but very close to this.

it's a lot easier to get the fender flares off if you put a little heat from a heat gun on it. Pulling the tailgate off should've been the first thing you did.

If you don't have a locking tailgate, use a clamp to lock down the right side of the hinge that pulls out first. It won't let thieves take it.

Nice job. Have you guys measured the axel? Check to see if it’s still centered... since it looks like that passenger side took a good hit. Nice to know the Tacoma’s bedside is relatively easy to remove.

I wonder if anybody has tried to put bed stiffeners on the inside of the fender so they're hidden and don't get in the way. Great Video thanks.

I also wonder how much of a pain it’ll be to have the plastic bed replaced as mine cracked a little bit. Same with the area that the bed stiffeners go on mine are warped slightly on the side I was hit

I keep seeing/hearing this with vids from younger generations, and probably not their fault...the FRONT panels are the Fenders...the REAR panels are referred to as QUARTER PANELS. On TRUCKS, they are typically reffered to as the Bed Sides. The More You Know!

Awesome video. I damaged the exact same spot on my 19 Tacoma and have been procrastinating bringing it in to be fixed, mostly because I’m afraid of the overall repair cost. What is the retail on the fender from Toyota - I think I could tackle this over the course of a weekend, thanks to you!

So it appeared that there was no damage done under/behind the fender? The bed wasn't crooked or anything prior to you undoing it? Cool to watch though but a tough job to do alone it looked like.

That is a possibility, but it's probably better for them to put it back on so that the paint doesn't get damaged during transport
