We totally forgot to upload this video! This past spring the folks from Taiga visited our home turf with a few Taiga electric snowmobiles and Motorhead Mark got a chance to ride Taiga's 2-up utility sled offering called the Nomad. Here's his detailed overview of this sled along with some first impressions after having it out on our local trails for the day.

Like to see a review and a run in the snow on the 2021/22 skaldic sport. Much of the stuff on RU-vid is not in English on this machine, it is lighter and has a shorter track lug 1.25 than the regular skandic wt 1.5. Love the electric snowmobile but I suspect it will be a while before it comes on the market.

I'm sure its very quick and powerful, but be very tough to complete a lengthy multi day excursion in remote locations. Probably a great ice fishing or utility sled though! Heres a good video idea for you... complete the rap tour on it in three or four days! That may start to shift people minds on the idea...

The world has finally righted, a new SnowTrax vid. Thanks Mark and Crue!! This can only be good for the industry, I'm glad to see this. Perhaps this can be a 2nd cabin(MN) or cottage(MI) machine, for the brother-in-law that "hates" powersports, but every time he gets on one, he loves every minute. Perhaps these sleds sell like hot-cakes, I hope they do!!

Good in theory I guess. I hear a lot of oooh's and ah's on anything with a battery. I get it. In my mind, it's ALL about range. It's one thing if your low on battery in your car in the Walmart parking lot, it's another if your 10 miles from the closest road in the woods in the middle of nowhere (and this will happen). Also, how many small hotels in northern Wi and MN are gonna gave charging for this stuff. I'll charge the battery on my lawnmower with no worries but gimme the gas and oil smell on my sled any time.

Great video, those are the most up close images I’ve seen of the sled. The front suspension and spindles look cobby, like a junk Chinese made machine. I love the idea on an electric powered sled as I’m sick of the exhaust fumes, noise and $50 per gal oil, but… I won’t be an early adopter. Taiga needs to make more of an effort to get these things out in public where they can be demo ridden. They are asking $15,000 and so far I don’t think anyone has received theirs yet. Small, start up companies like these seem to come and go. I hope they are successful but over the past few months I’m getting the impression that they are way better at making claims and posting things to social media than they are at manufacturing sleds. I also wonder where a guy will be 8 years from now if he keeps the Taiga for that long? Will the battery still work? If not, is a replacement even available? How much? $3,000-$4,000?

Longstanding joke. For the record, we didn't care if you had a problem with it back in the day. The point was Ski-Doo and Ski-Doo die-hards refused to admit throttle lag existed after we pointed it out. Now we just say it because so many guy used to get so bent out of shape about it.

Love the technology and innovation but I have 3 questions. #1 Range #2 Charge time #3 Weight. Oh wait four questions. #4 where and how do you charge it when you're 200 miles away from home at 10 in the evening and you're on 25% battery. Or when you hit 50% battery no matter where you're at you have to turn around and head for home? Don't get your feelings hurt their legitimate questions that everybody wants the answers to.👌

No hurt feelings. These are all good questions. I believe most of them can be answered on Taiga's website, but we're hoping to get our hands on one for a longer time period so we can do a thorough evaluation and answer all your questions.

@@thatalaskaguy I was referring to the total mileage I ride every time I go out, I stop at 130 miles take two minutes to fuel up and I'm one my way.

@@gregm3381 gotcha! 😀 Yeah, EV everything isn’t there with quick recharge times. Hydrogen would do that but it seems that the world is pursuing battery technology as there are a lot fewer losses between production and the end user. I think they will get batteries to the point they can handle quick recharges. For my use that Taiga would work out just fine. But until someone starts carrying them in state and I can test ride one I won’t be buying. I’d really enjoy an EV but they just aren’t mainstream enough for me to make the leap. Not for $15,000.

If only I could buy one or even see a price. I would love to buy one. I have an EV car, and I want this. Just don't understand all the hype for a product that I can't buy. Please prove me wrong. I want one. How do I get one? Pay a $500 deposit when no price is shown and they have been doing the same pre order for years now? Seriously... I'm not paying $500 without a delivery date and a price.

2022 sidewinder x-tx se $16,499 2022 titan xc 155 $14,699 us $ 16,699 can 2021 renegade x 850 used with 1100miles 14,900 then came down to 14,500 at 12k it would be a bargain, only thing that i wish would happen that the battery or group of batteries could be removable/ modular to fit other uses, atv or riding lawn mowers etc, skidoo is working on that idea time will tell🏁⚡

@@1250cc you only get so many charges before the battery is toast. The battery in the snowmobiles are probably around 150 to 200lbs. My ebike battery is heavy as hell for it's size.

People don’t realize that a train locomotive is an electric vehicle. The Diesel engines don’t do anything except produce electricity. That being said, you wouldn’t catch me on this thing unless it also had a engine charging the batteries. A hybrid if you will.

Electric vehicles are coming much to my dissatisfaction. Hardcore snowmobilers, I predict, will NOT buy in until range, recharge time and availability of remote recharge station issues are resolved. All items you conveniently avoided in this video and a previous electric snowmobile video. Makes one wonder if you’re evaluating one of these things or trying to sell them.

That windshield and luggage rack looks like a safety hazzard. So many sharp edges to hurt yourself on. Wind protection looks poor. I think it would be a unpleasant ride compared with my 49 lynx 900 ace rex².

I’m all for an EV future! I can’t wait to have dirt bikes, sleds and quads that are quiet, low maintenance and don’t reek of exhaust. But, they’ve got a long way to go before they become mainstream. I hope it happens at a quick pace. I’d feel better about buying an EV from an established, well known brand.
