I'm so sorry for ya'll. From what I'm hearing Trudeau is a dictator. It's hard to leave Canada, a friend of mine had their passport to come to the US and they wouldn't let him leave because he didn't have a job here. He was coming for a visit not to work. Canada doesn't want its citizens to leave. If the US keeps Biden in office we will be in the same shape as Canada. I pray for Canada and the US. Have a wonderful day.

there must have been some confusion, because people can leave Canada to "visit" the US, The UK..Europe etc. just about anywhere.

It’s a true conundrum we’re facing in North America. None but the filthy rich have a lifestyle they enjoy. I used to take two major vacations out of this country until cv. Since 2019, I haven’t renewed my passport which I kept up to date since age 18. Not even an overnight trip anywhere. I don’t trust leaving my house as I did every January thru February since we’re overrun with border jumpers. Now I garden and like you, Toni, I prepare and preserve the harvest. We have to keep the faith that it will change for the better?!

Hi Toni - sounds like your garden is doing better - I agree about the grass - have the same problem with that here in a couple of areas. I finally got all the plants and seeds planted by end of day yesterday (all the usual stuff) and was sitting here having my morning coffee trying to decide what seeds to plant in a couple of empty places - and my phone rang. “Hi Harriet how are you doing? Would you like 2- 50 lb bags of seed potatoes for the food bank garden 😂 ? “. Well I guess that is what I will be planting in the empty spaces 😂🤣. “Oh and I also have a half bag of onion sets too”. 😝. Guess I’m not done after all.

Toni, a story to lighten your day. For years, I have had the same trouble with rabbits, deer and chipmunks feasting on my garden. The last straw was about 4 years ago, when I tried to make an early crop of tomatoes. I started 60 plants indoor under lights. I grew very nice 4" pots, and in May of that year I planted them in my raised beds. Our last frost date is May15th, and sure enough the weathermen told us one night we were going down to near freezing that night. . I ran out that night and covered the plants with spun bonded row cover to give them an extra few degrees of protection. The next morning I awoke to a very strange sight. A deer had made a nest of the spun bonded row cover and was lying very comfortably in the center of the bed! At that point I decided to invest in an electric fence around the whole garden. Since then not one critter has ventured into the garden. Sending love from South Eastern PA in the States..

We are getting that heatwave too....here in Southern Quebec...Tuesday, Wednesday n Thursday are supposed to be scorchers.....I ordered 2 wild black currant plants and received them yesterday.,! They are about 9 inches tall..but are supposed to grow to 5 feet, and produce currants in their 2nd or 3rd year between 6- 8 lbs per plant..!, Will start them off in cloth gardening bags for this year..Will be fun to see them grow..!

Ours is full of bunnies too. They are eating some of the plants here. I will have to keep an eye on the beans when they start popping up. Some of the cucumbers have been chewed as well. I will have to replant some. That capital gains tax is going to effect alot of people that I know. They are certainly not well off either.

so many ppl think Canada has free everything but we dont we dont have free health care ... ppl who make $40 000 or more are charged a health care fee on their income tax! We arent charged upfront but we are charged in ways people dont know! its getting harder and harder to live ... thats why i bought the best i could for the little money i could spend on a home and moved across the country to have a home and land and debt free and can grow food and try to be as self sufficient as possible and have the least expenses ! Its a good thing more ppl are waking up and canning and growing and freezing !
