Thank you for this video. I have been struggling to assign Safe to a switch for weeks. This is my first plane with AS3x technology & the manuals don’t go into the details that you show here. After watching this I found that Safe was assigned to my chosen switch, the problem was the switch was not programmed to change the gains. Yours is the only video I found that talks about what the switch does & how to adjust safe.
Thank you Mike. I find these tips to be very useful. I'm 50+ just getting into this, and it's so much easier to see someone do it, than trying to read it lol :)
I'm confused, as I usually am by Horizon Support. Are we adjusting SAFE mode or the AS3X system. When you opened the manual I saw nothing relating to AS3X, just SAFE. In a recent phone conversation with Product Support the person I talked to about AS3X had no idea who Mike Lee is and when I shared the information regarding this video with them they were not helpful.
If you have retracts would you set your switch over to back far right or still use A switch ? Judy wondering is assigned switch “ gear” gets impacted when you have retracts ?
Hey Mike Great video. Got a question. On my DX9, I have my SAFE / AS3X switch on the " A " switch. By Default, SAFE is pushed all the way back, and AS3X is pulled inwards. How can I reverse that function to where SAFE is inwards and AS3X is pushed back. Hope I'm making since. Let me know please. THANKS.
Great video. Now I finally understand where is the AS3X and Safe technology controled! Channel 5! And the amount of stabilisation is decided by a 2 or 3 way switch! So I could on my heli, assign another switch for the throttle and pitch curves! Am I right?
A really bad decision by Spektrum was to change the new receivers to only have one postion of stabilization. The AR636 in the Maul and Aeroscout can use a three position switch. Two modes of stabilization and one off. Then the newer airplanes with AR631 only have one position of stability. So when training new guys that buy more than one plane. You run into shit like this. Please make them as they were with two modes of stability and an off position. Or just unlock the receiver to allow it to be turned on. It's frustrating trying to keep the switch settings the same. When the new receivers make that impossible.
Mike, can this be implemented with the AR636 Rx (SAFE SELECT) that has both SAFE & AS3X? My Tx mode switch controls SAFE ON or OFF, and AS3X is always ON. Can I setup a switch to turn AS3X ON & OFF while leaving the SAFE ON/OFF switch and functions as they are?
In order to set the AS3x ON/OFF in my models, I have the fly modes assigned to switch "H" (I only use two fly modes: FM 1 NO gains; FM 2 gains). You can do this from the AS3X screen on your TX. I don't use the safe function so, I can't comment on that one.... Hint: On the receiver(s), I have all the Rates set up at 100% and the Expo at 0%, that way I can adjust these parameters from my TX. So, AS3X on/off in "H" and H/L rates in "C".......
Reassign the switch as Mike mentions at the end. He says it can be assigned to the knob for variable gain, but at the beginning he tells you it can be assigned to any open switch; and that a two position switch is best.
This AS3X was soooooo not needed I pist away $100 for a micro Spitfire. Right at take offit would not respond to my control inputs. It would partially respond then suddenly do it's own thing. Less then 30 seconds of flight it crashed and I was out my money.
From what I understand this video is totally wrong you would have to Bluetooth the ax 3x to a phone on iPad and adjust threw the app you do not adjust from your radio
This information is ALL wrong.... his not doing anything with the as3x. Also, it seems like he thinks his adjusting a gyro or something but his messing with the SAFE system... don't listen to what his saying.
