Thanks for an informative video. What I need, perhaps others as well, is more setup videos for DX9. I'm not an electronics techie, just an old guy who wants to fly and needs help with all the bells and whistles, (knobs and switches). You must admit, the manual is of no use.

Hi PK, Thanks for the comment. You would like to see videos on how to set up a model. Can you give me examples of what kind of models you prefer to do the set up on? I am not knowledgeable on helicopters, but I do pretty fair on aerobatic, sport, sailplanes, and some 3D types. I can't say the manual is of no use, but enhancement is always welcome. Believe me, writing the text for the manuals is no picnic! I have written some in the distant past, and you always find more to write about. But tell me what kind of planes you are setting up and I will see what I can do. Thank you again for the comment!!! Sincerely, Mike Lee

Your Twin Rudder example could also of been addressed via the Tail Type in the Aircraft Model Type Menu.

Thanks for the informative videos Mike, but you went off camera to show how to assign a switch and I totally missed how to do that. I have a DX 18 and am looking to assign switches to my aux channels. Can you help with that? Thanks in advance.

Hi Mike great tutorial ! Can you help me understand channel mixing and how to do it with a DX 9. I want to understand how I can set my slats and flaps together and what all the setting mean to better understand how to take advantage of this function. Also I am geting ready to receive the new F 14 from MRC and I wanted to know if I shouls and could set two modes for the servos sensitivity during the time when the wings are in sweep position and then when they are forward. I know the CG will change and the control surface get a little more sensitive with them in the sweep mode so I want to set up two modes for this plane, thanks !

+Bob Hodge Hi Bob, Mixing is not that hard, as it is mostly just knowing the software routine on how to activate it. So, let's take that slats and flaps mix. Let me assume that flaps are controlled by the slider switch on the backside of the transmitter case, and we will use the left side slider. Just for this exercise, I will assign the flaps to the left slider and use channel 6 as the control channel to the flaps. With the slider in the up position, the flaps will be up. Set the end points of the flap servos and when you are satisfied with the flaps, we move to mixing the slats to them. In the Function List menu, scroll down to mixing and press the roller switch once. Assuming you have no mixes set up, select P-Mix 1. Press the scroll switch once. I am going to assign Channel 7 to the slats, and the end points have been set. The first thing to decide is whether the mix is a linear (normal) relationship or on a curve. I will go with normal. Press the scroll switch once. This takes you forward and you need to tell the DX9 which controls you wish to mix. You should be looking at Mix 1, inh>inh. By scrolling just once, the first inh will be highlighted. This is your master channel., flaps, channel 6. Now, highlight the other inh and that will be Channel 7, slats. Press the scroll switch once again. You are now at the rate selection. You can add a value, which makes the slats move with the application of flaps at the rate of percentage shown. So, if you assign a value of 50, the slats will move 50% of the distance from center to the end point. If you program 100, then the slats will move 100% of the allowed movement that you set in the end points. Note that you can set this as a negative number as well, which allows the servo to move in the opposite direction. Now scroll to the Offset. This is what allows you to reset the center or neutral position of the slat servo function. If you thought you would have to set the servo control arm somewhere other than centered, you can do that with the offset electronically. Once that is set, roll on the scroll switch one more time and you have the switch to select when you wish to activate the mixing function. If you do not want to turn it on or off, as in just leave it active all the time, then the selection will be, "On". Otherwise you can select the switch to use when you wish to activate the mix. That should do it and now you know how to mix. Use your monitor screen to show you if the set up is working like you intend it to work, before turning the receiver and servos on power. That way, you won't stall a servo and burn it up. I hope this has been of service to you and if you have more questions, please let us know. Sorry it took so long to reply, and that is my fault....I'm learning how to respond back to these questions, and then remembering that these questions are here.Sincerely,Mike LeeTeam Horizon

I have a BIG problem. I have a DX9 transmitter and an RV-7 airplane with an AR631 receiver. I successfully set up my airplane the way I like it along with SAFE select assigned to switch "A" A afterwards I realized that I really need SAFE to be on switch "B" I've tried everything I can think of to move that SAFE function over to switch "B" with no success. Even Re binding the airplane with SAFE OFF. Then Re binding SAFE back on and attempting to move it overt to switch "B". I f you know how, can you please assist me. THANKS.

U should be able to assign any switch for safe/as3x in forward programming.

Your Flap and Retract example is GOOD but using the Sequencer for something like that would be much better as you could control each channel individual but at the same time still be controlled via ONE SWITCH

I realize this is a decade old, but it would be nice if the camera stayed on the controller during instruction dude 🥴

Nice demo, but useless to me. My transmitter has the throttle assigned to the right stick and there is no apparent way to change it.
