But with an intake sensor, if you can assume the exhaust is consistent, you can discern where it's choked -- and also figure out "what the heatsink is feeling" given the power, fan speed, inlet temp, and heatsink modeling. So I wouldn't be surprised if they do actually have a good inlet sensor as well, on one of the outer PCBs.

It can squeal like a pig, Nvidia essentially being the GPU scalpers now means I'll be getting my first AMD GPU since they were called ATI. I'd rather pay a grand and get most of the performance, then shell out more and condone the gouging.

@fafski1199
@fafski1199 Год назад
Lol... Both are gouging, it's just Nvidia are doing so slightly more than AMD. It's not really condoning gouging, buy buying an AMD GPU, when AMD are doing exactly the same. It's like saying I support Stalin over Hitler in World War 2, because Stalin committed slightly less atrocities. Sorry, but both where evil dictators at the end of the day, who commited genocide and killed millions of innocent civilians in thier wake. If you really want to see an end to gouging then don't buy anything (at least yet) from either company. If both companies struggle to sell those cards, then they'll both will have no other choice but lower down their prices, until they do start to sell in reasonable numbers. Which in turn will hopefully result in a downward spiraling pricing war between the two companies, that will eventually end at a point where people are then willing to pay those far more reasonable and reduced prices for thier GPU's. It also teaches both of them a major lesson on not trying to rip customers off in the first place and that ultimately it's always the customers that dictates a products actual value.

I miss the external vent cards. Used to have 2 140mm fans blowing up from the bottom of my case right into the card that ten exhausted outside the case. Then I would have the front fans also blowing forward and the graphics card size would kinda create a natural block where half the front fans just blew into the upper part of the case and either out the rear fan behind the cpu or up and out the top fans.
@exoticspeedefy7916

@@blue-steel7177 I was thinking the verry same thing, the card exhausts out both sides so all the hot air is going to the motherboard and NVME drive. Except you need to use a riser cable and those can limit performance.. There is an open air like case called Antec Striker that allows the GPU to be mount at the front of the case, with exhaust flow directly out the sides of the GPU with nothing restricting it, keeping it away from the AIO and board. Shame the case in ITX though.. that case is a good example of what is ideal for GPU thermals and no front fans needed

@@gorjy9610 Trust me, thermal pads won't help much if there isn't strong and direct airflow on them, because the metal surface of the back plate will simply absorb the heat really fast, especially if the card is running something with 100% GPU usage, you are looking at the back plate being fully saturated with heat within the first 15 mins or so which then, because it is heated as acts against acquiring more heat, at least to a lower rate. Removing the back plate and have two fans to pull the air from it is gonna do waaaaaay more than bottlenecking the thermal transfer rate with thermal pads and the back plate acting as heatsink, its thermal capacity is low anyway.

19:21 I wish gaming laptops would start to receive aftermarket attention and get such giant coolers to enable gaming laptops upgrades and tuning. This relies on gaming laptop manufacturers to build them accordingly so that the GPU and CPU are much closer to the desktop versions in terms of construction and components used. 99% of us gaming laptop users aren't using them on planes or trains or during a commute, but are using them at home then at the hotel and ten at another hotel, plugged in. So we don't care much about the form factor, as the laptop will be taken with a backpack or inside the luggage. Having a thick cooling area protuding won't be an issue quite a benefit because as it is right now, gaming laptops are recommended to have the rear suspended for better airflow. And as usage, with the stock cooling the laptop to be using similar level of performance as current gaming laptops offer (or future development), but when you plug in an aftermarket serious large cooling like at the caption time, to open up a boost menu and really unlock the potential, with clock speeds etc..

Steve, let me tell you a story about screws. If you think its easy to strip out those screws, you haven't changed brake rotors on a honda. At first glance, the rotor is screwed in using 2 phillips screws. Firstly, WHY, when the lugnuts and eventually, rust, hold the rotor in place. Second, they aren't phillips screws even though they look like it, in fact, they are JIS (japanese industry standard) screws. Not a single other screw in the entire car uses this style if "phillips" screw. Not only does the screw eventually corrode and rust to the rotor itself, making it literally impossible to take out (even with an impact), it is super easy to strip it by not having a japanese screw driver! WHY! The only solution for me was to literally hammer the bit with a regular phillips impact bit while also spraying it with rust remover. After about 15 minutes per screw per wheel...they came out. Funny enough, they are also called "CrossPoint" screws.

with the Coil whine from these Cards, its very clear that Padding the Inductors would reduce it Massively Wonderwhy they never did that. it makes a HUGE difference with the EVGA and ASUS 30XX cards.

THERMAL TEST please Steve: (pretty please consider) Every time I see this cooler layout, I feel that it would work better if the rear edge (mobo side) was just sealed off. 1/2 of the exhausted air is hitting the motherboard and with nowhere else to go is being fed straight back into the cooler (compounding) every time. The drawbacks seem obvious; but with no recycling of exhausted air (in a conventional top exhaust case) it would be interesting to see how this effects temperature and noise. I feel like it may be louder but also cooler.

How thick of a thermal pad should I buy? I have the same reference card and I need to maintain it. I would be happy if you help. My English is not very good so I couldn't understand the video

On warzone/mwII, I’m at a 75 percent bottleneck on 1440p with basic/balanced settings. I have a i7/12700k with a xfx merc 310 7900 xtx What gpu is going to put the bottleneck back on the gpu on lower settings so I can get some more frames? Currently getting 265fps average on mw2 benchmark and in warzone it seems to hover around 190-200.

tyi this card is not compatible on the Asus X570 Crosshair Impact. The Backplate interferes with the Vrm cooler of the Board. i had to remove the backplate to fit the card in.

Just want to spread the message: I own a 7900xtx reference and at 4k the temps jump to 110c at 100% fan speed and the temps stay there. After looking around this problem is more then common. Reddit is full with complaints(and people claiming its normal) and my local tech site has also plenty of complaints.

You guys should bring over Buildzoid to examine the PCB & explain why it has such bad coil whine

When weighing a bad vapor chamber with another good one, you would clear up any doubts if it is the liquid, the one with more liquid will weigh more and obviously it will cool more. regards

weigh them separately, the good one should weigh more, as it has more liquid

its just me or the 7900xtx and 7900xt has no thermal pads on the back? while nvidia does have on each vram (the back side...that doesn't even have vram chips but still has thermal pads) if xt doesn't have it either...maybe i might consider adding some... specially on the v-ram and probably capacitors too
