Great demo! Its nice to have someone really focus on a product in a way that shows how precisely it functions. This thing is surgical in its precision. My only dig on your video is that it isnt long enough. Would be great to see you add bass lines to a few different mixes (Rush and otherwise) in a pro recording setting. Not really a dig, perhaps you could do another video doing just that. Great job!!!
Glad you liked it and thanks for the feedback! I’ve used the pedal in a few other videos in my channel. Here’s a recent one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HEnYObvkBTc.html
This thing is awesome, first pedal I ever bought. I'm a fretless only player and this thing can unfortunately make some awful sounds on fretless that aren't present on a fretted bass. But it also makes some amazing tunes on fretless, just make sure your cat doesn't play with the knobs between practices hahahaha
Are you reading my mind? LOL - How is it that every few weeks you review something of major interest to me? Well, I won't question it, I'll just enjoy. Another great review, Ivan! I just "liked" you on FB. I'll send you a message to make the connection.
I would like to see video comparation this pedal VS EBS Billy Sheehan Ultimate Signature Drive, they sound really similar, to me on youtube videos. Great video as usually
Hey love the video thank you. It's made me go out and buy one. Ha. What's the intro tune your playing if you dont mind me asking as it sounds great and what are you playing also? God I'd love the tab for that. Keep safe.
Hey there! That’s awesome. Congratulations 🙌🏽 I write all the intro tunes myself, so no TAB at the moment. I might release some sort of TAB bundle because I get asked that same thing quite often 😄
@@IvanBassist wow that was quick oh yes tab would be great that's one kicking ass tune that you start the video with. I'd even pay for that buddy. Thanks.
Hey TB Dingwall brother….can you please do this again with your Super P/J? I’m very interested in this pedal and wold love to hear it with the Super P. Thanks!!!
Great pedal - hope they one day make it in the mini FlyRig format like the SH-1 or the dUg pedal. Then I would get one, even so I already have the Steve Harris SH-1! These mini FlyRigs are awesome. All in one including a great tuner! Tech21 make one and give it to Geddy to try ... I am sure he will love it.
I prefer “normal” pedals, to be honest. They just released a more compact version of the rack unit 2122 but in a pedalboard format. Definitely looking forward to giving that one a try
Hi. Can i get the same kind of distortion used by geddy Lee with another pedal like a Tube screamer or another pedal or is better to buy his signature sansamp pedals ? Thanks.
Hey there! I mean, the easiest way would be to get the yyz pedal, but you can get jn the ballpark by using a regular sansamp bass driver or VT bass. There are other brands making cross-over pedals like this one, too. If you want to use a tube screamer, you’re probably gonna have to split your signal to have a clean signal and an overdriven one and then blend those 2 together
I been playing bass professionally for decades. I just got one of these last week.....And, trust me, it is best thing that ever happened to my sound. If you get one, let me know how you like it. I'll bet you'll love it, like I do.
I haven’t used the SH 1 pedal, but the tight knob here filters the frequencies so that only the mids and treble get distorted and then you can blend in clean low end. Without it, the entire frequencies get distorted
Hi, I have been watching your videos on your channel lately, and I like your gear reviews, i think they are very helpful. I currently have an Eden WTDI pedal and a Hartke Bass Attack 2 and in the past I had an Ampeg SCR-DI that I regretfully sold, but anyways, that´s another story…al lof them I use them as DIs. The thing is I wanted a different sound and I plan to sell my Hartke pedal. My Eden I have set up for warm but defined sound. I like the versatility of this pedal, but would prefer a DI pedal. I have always been a fan of Geddy Lee and Steve Harris sound. However, I cannot justify the Price of the Sansamp 2112 DI to my wife and get away with it without having a problem with her. But, this pedal is still priced within “acceptable” range for my wife, I hope. The thing is that i use these pedals as DIs only and love the portability and convenience. Do you think if I use the ¼ output of this pedal combined with a ¼ to XLR adaptor it might work decently enough to be used as DI? What would be the implications from output, sound quality and integrity point of view? I have never used those adaptors and I am relatively new to this whole ampless, DI world for bass players. Thanks for your comments
Hey there! Thanks for watching :) I would advise against getting a converter for the pedal into an XLR cable. If you already have the WTDI it would be better to use that DI out, instead. If you do not want to stack up preamps (both the YYZ and WTDI at the same time), you can turn off the WTDI and turn on the YYZ when needed. Alternatively, you could try to talk to your wife about not buying the pedal *right now*, but save up for the 2112 DI. Instead of buying 2 pedals, you get to buy one that is a bit more expensive, but that you really want :D
@@IvanBassist hahaha...thanks for the advice! Actually, I have seen the specs on the 2112 DI and I think it does have too much complexity going on (dedicated lines out for the clean and distorted signals) both for 1/4 as well as Xlr cables, so I was thinking more of this pedal for the simplicity except for the lack of DI output. But I just forgot that I also need another 1/4 out for my practice amp that I use as my monitor, so maybe this pedal wouldn't work. Do you think you could get similar sounds out of the v2 Bass Driver? For what I have seen on RU-vid, i think so. What do you think?
