OMG, Chase you are not going to believe the HUGE catalog of music she has. She's been hitting the charts since 1965!!! Movies, T.V. shows, even Broadway, and sang in countless styles of music. You're going to really enjoy going through her stuff.
She was about 40 in this video and still looked that good! I've followed her career since I was 5 years old in 1973 because of my older cousins loved her and watched her TV Show with then husband Sonny Bono.
She was so busy in 1988 and '89--starring in movies, releasing albums and singles and videos--that I think we sort of took Cher for granted. Looking back, every thing she did (and does) is special.
Cher (birth name- Cherilyn) is among the greatest of all time! FYI- the video was filmed on board the USS Missouri and all of sailors were real. Her outfit caused quite the controversy, but she refused to change it. Her 12-year old son is playing guitar in the video, too.
As others will no doubt tell you, Cher is a legend----arguably the best-known female singer of the past century. I am confident that you will have a great time getting to know her. For a much more recent huge hit song of hers, check out "Believe."
This Is Amazing ! Chase discovers CHER and the beat goes on. Cher has had top hits in every decade beginning in the '60's. Her recent album topped charts It's Christmas, one of the best and very fun pop music holiday albums . CHER has an ABBA connection topping album charts with her rendition of their songs a few years back. CHER also had a role in their movie MAMMA MIA 2 Here We Go Again where she sings Fernando. Cheers Chase !
You pronounced it right when you said "Share" ❤ That was her 80s more rockier stuff, but she switched to pop and Dance in the 90s. With her 1998 monster hit "Believe" she became the oldest woman (aged 52) to top the Billboard charts. Her first #1 was "I Got You Babe" with her then husband Sonny in 1965, making this 33 years period the longest gap between two Billboard Hot 100 #1s 🙂
You certainly picked a great song to start your Cher journey. You now have 7 decades to jump around. Her career started when I was in 6th - 7th grade and I've been a fan ever since. And she can and does sing in many styles. Her rock/new wave stuff in Black Rose as the lead singer is a personal favorite, but I love all of her stuff. Just a note, she recorded an ABBA cover album a few years back, and her Christmas album last year was so much fun. She's still going strong and very recently talked about a new tour in the works. She is the ultimate. She is also an Oscar, Emmy, and Grammy-winning actor and singer.
Classic song by cher . She recently did a alblum singing all of ABBA's hits . The teenager in the background playing the guitar is actually Chers ( pronounced share ) son .
Thank you, Chase! ⌚ Cher's name is pronounced like share. She's a *great* actor, too! Check her out in MOONSTRUCK (1987). She also has a small role in the ABBA-jukebox-sequel MAMMA MIA: HERE WE GO AGAIN (2018). I hope you'll start watching some movies and documentaries to compliment your musical interest. They're very informative. The more you know about artists... artists' lives, artists' experiences, artists' relationships, artists' other interests besides music... the more you'll be able to appreciate the music.
Cher reminds me of Tina Turner. Women who made some choices early in their lives that didn't work out. They hit the reset button and became superstars. Hey, she also did a few movies too.
Cher is timeless FIRE❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 Try "We All Sleep Alone" (m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hUE-S4E8-9k.html&pp=ygUSd2UgYWxsIHNsZWVwIGFsb25l) This is footage from the first concert I saw her live. Then try "Save Up All Your Tears" official video which was a big Rock hit but doesn't get a lot of attention these days. Then she transitioned to more Pop/Dance with "Believe" official video. I think you'd really enjoy the whole "Believe Tour" concert, which is available on youtube. Every song is a hit and it's an incredible concert production.
Hi Chase. Cher (pronounced like share) is an icon. She started back in the 1960s with her then husband Sonny Bono as "Sonny & Cher" their biggest hit was "I Got You Babe" in 1965. She continued to have hits in the 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond. This music video for this song was recorded on board the battleship USS Missouri while the ship was stationed at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard. Those are real sailors in the video. Cher's son Elijah who was 12 at the time appears in the video playing guitar wearing dark glasses and a Jimi Hendrix T-shirt. You should definitely check out more of Cher's songs. One of my favorites is "I Found Someone" from 1986.
As far has I know they were all sailors from the ship she was preforming on. You should watch Freddy Mercury live on the band aid show 1985 amazing!! But you have to watch the whole of his performance and he wasn’t well at the time. It’s was done for people starving in Africa.
Sonny and Cher Songs: I Got You Babe (1965) and The Beat Goes On (1967) Cher Songs: Gypsies, Tramps and Theives (1971), Half Breed (1973), Jesse James (1989), Believe (1998), Strong Enough (1998) Welcome to Burlesque (2010) from the movie Burlesque and you should also watch Tough Lover from the movie Christina Aguilera. Christina's vocals will blow your mind like no one else. Then watch the movie!
Wow ! Never thought you would love this song and video so much ! You're full of surprises ! If you like this style, I guess you will love Cher's other singles from the same album : I found someone, We all sleep alone and Main man that all have an official music video. There's also an official live video of Bang Bang. But the 1987 version ! Cher first released it in 1966 and then in 1987 she released a rock version of the song.
That's the naval battleship, USS Missouri; the audience is the crew. When you're Cher ("Share"), you shoot videos anywhere you like. Cher began performing in 1962 and is still a hot commodity today. Her list of albums and hit singles is far too long to memorize. She's also an actress, a fashion icon, and political activist. She's won a Grammy, an Emmy, an Oscar, and three Golden Globes. Her unmistakable voice just gets better with age, and she's one of the most incredible entertainers ever. A true force of nature. Specific to drawing you in, she recently did an album of ABBA covers after starring in Mamma Mia 2. "Share" is how you pronounce it. She was HUGE in the 60s and 70s first as part of Sonny and Cher; Sonny Bono was her first husband. The Sonny and Cher Show was the biggest variety show of the era. Their theme song, a love duet and biggest hit is "I Got You Babe". I think you were looking for the word "sailors" -- not sure but it looks to me like those are real US Navy sailors not extras hired for the video and I'm going to guess it was filmed aboard the USS Iowa which was indeed a battleship, the last one in the Navy. I may be wrong but i think the blond guitarist in this video is her second husband Greg Allman a famous rocker. I suggested a little while back you should watch Adam Lambert at the Kennedy Center Honors where he sings "Believe" which is her signature song. He brings her to tears with his performance. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5PzQHZLiUPs.htmlsi=Iw3AoHDLA7qD9Qsc
Bro you should really watch a Madonna video :). Love your reactions so far! Great choices as well. You could start with Papa Don’t Preach for a Madonna track if you want. She’s the highest selling female artist ever!
