I am going to discuss Tennis Elbow Treatment with Injections in this video and Cortisone & PRP Injections for Tennis Elbow are also discussed in this video. Tennis Elbow is also called Lateral Epicondylitis in Medical terminology.
Tennis Elbow is basically inflammation of Extensor Muscles Origin on outer aspect of Elbow Joint. Inflammation of Fibers of Extensor Carpi Radialis Brevis is called as Tennis Elbow or Lateral Epicondylitis.
Those Activities which increase stress on above mentioned muscle in elbow joint cause Tennis Elbow. This causes Micro tears in fibers of ECRB and there is inflammation at extensor Muscles Origin Site. This problem was faced by Tennis Players in the beginning when they used back hand shot then most of Tennis Players underwent Tennis Elbow.
Symptoms of Tennis Elbow include
1. Pain in Elbow Joint at a Specific Point
2. Pain in Elbow while Holding Things
3. Decreased Grip Strength of Hand
If a Patient doesn't get relief from Medicines, Physiotherapy, Hot Massage & Packing, Rest and Splints then different types of Injections are given at the most tender Spot of the elbow. These Injections include Cortisone Injection & PRP Injection.
Cortisone Injection is given to the patient and it comprises Inj. Depo-Medrol x 40mg in a 3cc Disposable Syringe mixed with Inj. Lignocaine x 2mL and given at the most tender spot of the elbow of the patient.
If a patient doesn't get relief from Corticosteroids Injection then PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Injection is given to the Patient. Inflammation gets reduced with the help of these Injections and patient can perform activities of daily living easily.
These Injections should only be administered by an Orthopedic Surgeon.
