3.5 yrs ago I was hooked and ordered my Model 3 after I watched your overnight roadside camping in your Tesla in sub sub freezing temps on your way to Lillehammer. Now you are testing a Y hergestellt in Deutschland! Who would have guessed this amazing progress of Tesla and your continued service to all of us EV owners. Thank you!! Keep on hammering!
You should really redo the test also with the 2022 Model Y LR. Out of personal experience it also got the better suspension than the 2021, the increased load limits, the double glass windows on the rear door and also the same larger battery as in the performance you just tested. I guess it would be cool to see how much Tesla improve in a little more than half a year.
Of you’re ever bored - you could try the updated Long Range.. For 2022 the WLTP went from like 507 to 560 something kilometers with a slightly bigger battery, they gave it acoustic glass in the rear, AMD Ryzen chip, so on and so worth.. Only difference is that the German Y Performance got the parcel shelf.. Rumors says the Q2 MiC cars got the parcel shelf and hooks as well
Wow that’s literally farther than the Model Y long range! Nice to see the cars getting closer and closer to their EPA numbers every year. And 146 and 205 Wh/mile at 90 and 120 km/h isn’t anything to scoff at either. I’m always surprised at how efficient this heavy crossover is
The LR is the 2021 version which had a smaller LG battery. The 2022 LR MIC comes with the same battery as this performance, so, in theory the range would be much higher than the previous measure from Bjorn. Probably around 525 km at 90 km/h !
@@pedronunes1353 I live in the us as the batteries gotten upgraded in 2021 as both long range and performance has the same batteries as the model 3 which is I think Panasonic but I know for the foreign markets they get almost completely different kind of batteries
to get the best sound of the tesla sound system you should adjust the equalizer quiet a bit to your taste. if on default settings the sound is not that good but if adjusted right the sound is pretty wild in a tesla. at least so my fist hand experience🙂
In my Model Y I was getting some rattling from the right side caused by the seatbelt buckle hitting against the lower B-pillar. Wrapped it up and the rattle went away.
I sometimes will charge at the slower (50kw chargers) if I'm want to stay there for a while and eat lunch at a sit down restaurant or something. I do try NOT to fast charge if I can help it to protect my battery.
Bjørn, there could be several reasons for choosing a 50kW charger instead of a Supercharger. As an example, If he arrives at 60 % at stops for a lunch break but doesn't really need to charge, then he might as well charge anyway to save time at the the charger 200 kms ahead. And if he wants to sit down and have a burger and a coke, and take 30 minutes rest because he's not in a hurry, then the 50kW charger is much more ideal. 1) it's less stressfull to the battery 2) it's cheaper 3) he doesn't have to leave his food at the restaurant to move the car after 15 mins and come back and eat the rest 4) he leaves the supercharger open for anyone in a more hurry than he is. So, be openminded. I't not always about charging as fast as possible ad driving 1.000 km as fast as possible.
it simply shows how little the legacy carmakers carw about efficiency. and many who like far Etron etc forget that a fat consumption level means substantially stronger and faster degradation. plus electricity does also come from somewhere so wasting it is also bad
woooow that consumption tho!! impressive how it can match model 3 P with same tyres... craving for that EV6 GT tests you already mentioned you cooking!!
Hi Björn. Thanks for the good work. Why do you think, that the German High performance is so good? Would you expect German produced Y long range to be equally good / better than chinese/ us produced - in regatds to suspention ride comfort and efficiency/ range?
I think they will not update the charging curve soon. For the first model 3 with LG pack we waited more than an year and that car was just sold in china before. So, 18 months for the update from the release of the battery. I think Tesla will update all the LG batteries together, but not soon. Maybe for the next winter
You should test again the Model Y Long Range but the 2022 MIC because it has the same battery as this performance with 19’” wheels and caps… If it has the same efficiency as the 2021 version it should get 524 km at 90 km/h (74.4 KWh/ 142 Wh) and 380 km at 120 km/h!
Also while it's a good idea to use uncompressed file, the music itself is compressed from the source, meaning each note from those digital instruments doesn't use many frequencies. I'd suggest classical music or at least music with real instruments that bring harmonics, but ok I can't say I listen so much of it myself either.
Model Y Performance is listed with 0-100 in 3.7 seconds but that's with 1 ft rollout. From 0 km/h it's 3.9 seconds. EV6 GT is listed with 0-100 in 3.5 seconds. This car is faster than Model Y Performance. I have tested both of them.
Du må prøve nå i finværet å teste model Y LR fra Oslo til Bergen og tilbake.. Eg kjørte fra slottet i Oslo til sotra vest for Bergen uten ladestopp. 489 km og hadde 6% igjen👌👌
Always looking at your best results but in reality, in the UK, 120 Km/hr is the reality test and probably most countries? That 10 mph is a beast of a difference. (from 90 Km/hr) Therefore 224 miles is just OK from a Model 3P 2019 owner? Distance is only important on a small number of long journeys but THEN it is very important.
Science question on Regen vs Neutral "coast": Situation- long downhill of 5 miles highway with just the right constant grade to coast in neutral at speed limit terminal velocity. Car is 50% soc. Question: which is more energy conserving?: A - Neutral coasting, B- low regen, C- High regen
@@reasonitout9087That depends on the outside temp, flat way or slightly downhill, tyres, wheel weight, passengers and baggage weight. So yeah many factors. I have driven the coasting line with other EVs due to a smaller battery pack or lack of proper heatpump or active cooling/heating of battery pack. The coasting in cold weather was more efficient due to not generating extra heat when regen such that the cold weather transforms the energy it to a lower temp state which just cools dkwn the battery pack and make you get less out of the battery pack. In Thermodynamics we get heat losses because of lower outside colder temp which has great effect to cool down the battery pack if not properly maintained. But with a Tesla this may not be the case simply because tesla has award winning technology to warm and keep a stable temp after few minutes in cold temp also, not 100% but very good compared to other EVs, this may increase consumption by a small amount but you get more energy out of the battery pack. So regen downhill gives something back for this purpose. You wont regen 100% though unless you go downhill for a while and then keep driving flat.
Your comment no the sound sustém makes no sense. Its MUCH BETTER than standard Mercedes ir Bowie, which basically suco. Heredia, you have good enough sound as standard. In merc ir BMP, you have to pay for similar qualitativa. Plus, the car hás no passengers other than you, so, the Stage Will Never be balanced
Yes model Y is very efficient but is not a competitor to etron(model x would be apropriate). At 140-160km/h on autobahn e-tron will be more efficient( plus charging speed is way better it holds 150kw over 80%) Ps. I am a model 3 perf owner( shanghai built 82kw battery) and to bring it down under 210wh is a adventure
Perhaps he's thinking about the two-speed gearbox some e-trons have. Not all of them have that, though, and I'm not sure how much highway efficiency is improved by it.
