You got lucky with that 99% state of charge. I got mine with 17%, which dropped to 16% by time I set off. Car routed me to the nearest supercharger when I navigated to home. Unfortunately it was the worst Supercharger in the country (Brent Cross shopping centre car park) as there are only two chargers, both full, with several people waiting. I navigated to another charger about 10 miles away which had loads of capacity and used my 100 miles free charging immediately. Not an ideal introduction to EV ownership, having this new car and range anxiety immediately. Loving the experience since then though. I would not go back to an ICE car now.
Thanks for the video. Good to see your experience was hassle free, though I didn’t see you inspect the car for any damage? I had a very poor experience in December last year at the Brent Cross location. The car was filthy, had not been washed. There were deep scratches on the front panel, front passenger side and rear side passenger door. There was bird poo on the inside door panel! The car was barely charged . And to make matters worse the onsite toilet didn’t have any running water, clearly only found this out after using it. The Tesla reps were all housed in a makeshift portakabin and just shrugged their shoulders and told me to book it for repair. So there I am having to take photos and load it all on the app and book a repair. I was totally deflated and spoilt my entire experience.
I’m sure some people would like to be schmoozed when handing over a lot of money on a new car but I think this is as good as it gets. If only everything was this efficient! I hope it keeps impressing you and looking forward to more vids.👍
I would so miss being offered bad coffee while waiting for an hour when they "prepare" the car for me and I get to sign off the same amount of paperwork as I did when buying my house. NOT 🙃 I have ordered the CyberTruck and if Tesla told me I could pick it up in Texas (I live in Anaheim California) I would fly, UBER to the plant and drive it the 1,370 miles home. ps I have owned the Model Y LR for 2 years and love it, it will be the wife's car when the CyberTruck arrives though.
Collected my model y from there June 2022 and had to go into the cruise terminal. Massive queue which took over half hour. Funny thing they kept banging on about insurance but didn’t even ask to see it before handing the car over.
What could be easier ,although you've just picked up probably the second most expensive purchase ( for those of us in the real world ) as quickly as a packet of mints , enjoy if that's the right word .👍😀
No human interaction, one of the pleasures of picking up a new car is collecting it form the dealership,or when it delivered to your home, checking it over with the delivery driver . It a crazy world. No wonder I drink 😊.
Haha - I find those salesperson handovers a bit cringeworthy so am happy with how this went. Surprised I didn’t have to show some ID though - if someone stole my phone that day it may have been fun 😂
Elon Musk: "Hey listen, there's this guy in the UK, Stirling or Starling or something, I hear he's pretty big on RU-vid. Better make sure his new car is fully charged." It's preferential treatment Jim, hahaha! That was fascinating but sort of futuristic - hope you got it home in one piece!
Tesla should provide a robot that greets you. Escorts you to the area where you new car is parked. Then says 'we've covered all the number plates up. You're on your own. Good luck finding your car. Beep'
I believe they do this on the service as well. So you just pick it up. However, if anyone other than the owner wants to pick it up, then it goes all wrong as I have personally experienced when picking up a Tesla for someone else and I do not have the app or permission to receive codes
Interesting, obviously it had registration plates on the car , its self service presumably must be someone somewhere is based at Southampton to register the car with the DVLA to sort its uk plate its registered to the car. I can't see them doing it from America or Germany as aren't some models now manufacturered in Berlin?.
Yeah, this was a Chinese one. The registrations are done offsite somewhere but staff at Southampton stick the plates on and do the prep. There is a little showroom there but any question results in “use the app”
Nope... wouldn't work for me. I'm crap at following instructions, and if I have to use the phone to get me into the car, when I can't even use the phone in most situations, then I'm screwed 😵💫 I rented a Peugeot van a few years back, and nearly knocked myself out on the windscreen, because the brakes were a bit bloody sharp! Anyway, I can't afford a Tesla, so it's not a problem I'm likely to have 😆
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru Haha, yup. But I very nearly had to stop that when I dropped my phone down the toilet 😆 (just flushed it after cleaning it, so not as bad as it sounds).
I'm interested in the Model Y RWD version to replace my current lease car ending in March next year, but I've heard you can't order the RWD version anymore 😞
@@DefinitelyNotAGuru I hope so. I'm 5 months away from needing to get the replacement lease vehicle, so hope stock of the Model Y RWD is still available closer to the time 🤞
Very similar to when I took a family member to pick up his a year ago. Very efficient, but for nearly 60 grand I would have liked a proper handover from a human being. I am quite old thoughl
Thanks Jim hope you enjoy the new tesla little question for you could you unlock the performance upgrades as a business expense? It will help the business as you will be able to get to meeting quicker😂😂😂

In a few years maybe a Tesla Robot may do a meet and greet.😂. Seeing that most of your videos are about the price’s of cars will we get to know how much you paid for your new Tesla and what swayed you to go for it. ? Thanks.
If this is the cost of the no dealership model then that's fine. Who wants to go to a dealership and hang around for half an hour for them to get their act together.
Interesting process indeed. Do you have to confirm the vehicle is in A1 condition when received before leaving? Curious as you mentioned before the bumper wasn’t fitted quite properly!
It was in-stock (which I got a £2k discount for) and they said delivery was not an option on those cars. I think most people have to collect their Tesla to be honest.
Strange that people still like the idea of paying 5k more for a car just to have some spotty little twerp in a cheap suite pretend to be their friend and unable him scrape a living from the Commission
Perfect as far as I’m concerned, just glad nobody nicked my phone that day 😂 I think those main dealer handovers are the most cringeworthy thing known to man.
How very odd 😳 You buy a £40,000, £50,000 or £60,000 car & you pick it up from a multi-storey car park 😮 Not a very personable approach is it 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
