I appreciate the deep dive for ELL instructional strategies that are proven to help students succeed. The various ways to introduce new academic words is so important for ALL students to be able to look at the word and connect it to its meaning, a visual of it, and examples of how to use it in their words.

thank you Mrs. Sauceda for helping us to look at the details and the key words and how this can help us make a better choice on the answers on the test to knock it out of the park.

This video dives into the instructional activities for ELLs. All ELLs activities must be focused, targeted and systematic in order to provide students the support necessary to be successful in acquiring grade-level English. Ms. Sauceda breaks down each one of these concepts and explains what it means to be focused, targeted, and systematic. Then she goes into explaining actual strategies that can help ELLs and the rest of the students as well. Lastly she breaks down PPR terminology into layman terms. For instance, when we see the word ELLs on a questions we should automatically think of ELPs, pre-teaching vocab, visuals, sentence frames, background knowledge. Another one that she breaks down is students motivation. We want students to be intrinsically motivate so that they are agents of their own learning. We can get students to be intrinsically motivated by one getting to know them in order to incorporate their interests and giving them options. Another great video, thank you Mrs. Sauceda!

English language learners are a large portion of the Rio Grande Valley student community. As educators we have the responsibility to engage English language learners and encourage them to buy into the learning experience.

I think the real-life happenings with our students is something we need to be aware of and able to take into consideration with how the student is acting or going on about their life. We have to take into account what happens in the student's life that could make things difficult and hard for them to do work, or pay attention, or anything of that matter. We need to be there and be as accommodating and willing to help that student however we can help them!

ELP’s English Learners proficiency standards. ELL students are big in my district and as a teacher we go above and beyond to break down vocabulary

I used to be an ELL. It was tough as a migrant worker not knowing how to talk, read, or express yourself to co-students and even teachers. It is imperative we focus on them without leaving anyone behind as well.
