Your explanation of how we use the standards is always so helpful in understanding, adapting and implementing our standards.

Going over this video regarding the TEXES PPR, it is vital to utilize this testing strategy to make sure we are paying close attention to the keywords/phrases within that scenario. I like the example in this video when you mentioned making sure your answer choice has all the parts for that recipe. It may not seem like a lot, Ms. Sauceda but you providing that example really stood out to me because you are right, you want to make sure your answer choice correlates to the question. I just want to say thank you for your guidance and clarification on what to look out for in the PPR.

Test stategies such as the ones mentioned are very helpful. The way the standards were broken down and given real world examples is also very informative.

Thank you, Mrs. Sauceda. What stood out to me was the range of populations within the questions. I like how you make the distinction in the wording of the questions and answers. It sounded like a clue to read through the questions and look for the key words or concepts in the answers. This how this test is making more sense to me than before. Thank you!

Perfect, I completely agree with you in regard to building relationships with your students at the beginning of the school year. This is my first year of teaching and was told to build on relationships the first 6 weeks and wonders, it did!! Both my students and I understand each other and know what expectations I set forth.

having them think pair share is awesome and then having them teach it back really will tell us if they understand!

Pair share seems like a good strategy to employ. Students should be able to pick up on this quick and learn well from it.

This video has helped me understand that we have to critically read all questions. As we are reading the questions we should figure out the foal of the teach in the scenario. Then look at the key words and phrases that are important in the question. Finally make sure that your key words address the answer you have chosen. The video also explains part of standard I.

I learned about the factors that contribute to effective planning such as understanding how a students age, development, and maturity level affect their learning abilities along with adaption for special pops. Incorporating these factors when planning lessons as well as including assessments for data collection will help students thrive in the classroom.

The process of elimination to narrow down to the correct answer is a very critical step you take. We must be able to recognize what the teacher's goal in the scenario is in order to be able to eliminate and narrow down on responses.

Making sure I read the question/scenario and identifying keys words and knowing the population which is given. Going through every answer choice and eliminating. Going to your online tutorial then reviewing your youtube page gave a better insight on domain 1 and I can see why it is greatly tested. I definitely could relate to some things you stated in the video and think with a few more tutorials and reviewing youtube I will be ready to take and pass the PPR!

What I learned from this video is that it’s important understanding the age group of your students helps you plan not only for the instructional environment but the actual instruction, this will help to create a great classroom that works for all students in your classroom that will help them learn according to their age group.

Pedagogy is defined by how we best teach our students. The PPR can contain up to 40% of the exam not only does it stand alone in its own standard but it also falls into standard 3. This makes it a standard of high importance. If the exam mention age group, grade level, special pop. It is important to pay attention to those keywords because these components indicate how instruction must be had for those demographics. When we understand our age group we are able to help understand how to tailor classroom instruction. When reading the questions we must always ask “Does this answer choice answer my key words and phrases within my question?”. Thank you for your insight and guidance Ms. Sauceda.

It is true that age and grade level is one of the most important things to consider when planning lessons. Another thing to consider is the special populations such as special education students, gifted and talented students, English language learners, and 504 students.

I also struggle with classroom management at times, especially when there is one specific student being disruptive. I work PT as a Substitute and as you know we are not given certain information in regards to whether a student has a disability, so when a student is being disruptive, it is hard to tell whether it is manifested from a disability or they're just misbehaving because they want to.

The standards are what the exam makers are given to create the exam. You really have to pay attention to the hints and word selection in each answer because one answer will be a little bit better than the rest of them because of the words they use or the phrase they say.

I think it was important for you to make that example of what kind of classroom culture a teacher wants to create and make sure that it is appropriate for their age group because if not then they likely wouldn't participate. I felt that I struggled with an attention grabber for my 9th graders and maintaining their attention, with having 30+ kids in my classes almost 40, it was difficult for me to set up my class with certain procedures. I struggled with classroom management as a first year teacher starting almost 2 weeks after the school year started it was still difficult for me to establish rapport. This has helped me get ideas in approaching the next school year.

Working as an Aide in the Middle School level and being able to see all these different teachers accommodate to the different types of students they have in their classroom has made it easier for me to understand Standard 1. I've also noticed that many teachers give the students a few minutes to discuss in their groups questions/answers before sharing it with the rest of the class which is very helpful for the whole classroom to understand the lesson that's being taught.

Great video breakdown! I do agree that in the beginning of school year a teacher-classroom relationship needs to be built setting expectations. And could be challenging entering a new classroom mid year. Also understand what age group/grade level you are teaching in order to set proper classroom management.

There are a lot of useful strategies that we can adopt to help with classroom management. But like you said, it is first important to remember the age group that we are dealing with, and from there figure out which strategy will work best. This is important because i feel that most kids want and appreciate structure in the classroom, and do not want to be in a place where everything is chaotic and all over place.

That is a good step by step process to eliminate answers on a test. I am notorious at seeing an answer and saying "that's wrong". So I am going to start using that step by step process. Also, classroom management is important and no matter what you do it has to grab the kids' attention or else it'll be chaos in the classroom.

It is important to keep in mind and pay attention to the descriptives, word choice and keywords that are used, what population, special needs, age, level that is being referenced, any specific details (ex: before, during, after) in the question. What is the goal of the teacher in the given scenario. Five doll hairs is more my speed when betting. :)

I find your explanation about classroom adaption interesting, as a substitute I deal with constant learning and adapting to different levels of students to ensure a healthy class scape dynamic. Also in preparation for many future teachers, I would recommend they build their resilience by subbing and try to find their rhythm.

I am guilty thinking that testing students were just to get grades. We need a collection of data.
@stephaniesauceda7700
@stephaniesauceda7700 Год назад
Yes! We are human data collectors: interpreting our students needs, using that data to actively and responsively instruct by supporting student needs. Or using the data to guide or help FORM our planning and instruction. The collection in data will be mostly FORMATIVE in nature. FORMative Assessments- help form or drive our planning and instruction, take place before and during the unit of learning, and can be formal or informal. Formal formatives are multiple choice exams, spelling tests, essays, projects, etc. Informal formatives can be a whole class discussion, you walking around the room, a conversation with the student, exit tickets, listening to students discussions during group activities and think-pair-share activities. All that data collection to get a clearer picture of your students comprehension and how best to support areas of need.
