I have enjoyed watching you create. I love both watercolor and mixed media and you have shown me ways to create with both, I am so excited to try your techniques. And thank you for not quitting on this piece! I probably would have and I've now learned to keep going, This turned out so beautifully!
Thank you so much for your kind words! ❤️ I'm so happy you enjoyed this and I'm even happier to see you're feeling inspired to try out these techniques ☺️ I can sense a lot of fun in your future! 🥰🎨
I applied the idea immediately !!! I made a circle symbolising the world, covered in glass bead medium….. some light moulding paste in the background for waves of peace , putting a fork to good use worked wonders . One thing I would like to see though : I would so very much love seeing you sign your wonderful and inspiring artwork ! Thank you ever so much for sharing : every Thursday morning is a little feast !
YAY!!!! I'm so happy to read this! ☺️ How fun that you were able to go work on your own right away 💕 and I love the concept you have for your painting! So awesome!! It's funny and true that I usually do not sign my painting until I'm ready to get it ready for shipping to someone. Maybe at some point I can show you the final stages of the process 😉 I really appreciate you being here with me and it's fun to know you're enjoying my channel - Thank you!! ❤️🤗
Loved it Gabrielle. What a bonus that it was over 40 minutes long, yey!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your painting journey with us. You are such a beautiful soul. Thank you, thank you for spreading love and beauty. Wishing you an amazing rest of the week. ❤
Hi Rosario 💕🤗 It's always a pleasure to hear from you! Thank you for your kind words! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video and I appreciate that you stuck around for the duration ☺️ I wish you a wonderful week as well xoxo
I love the textural nature of this piece I had no idea it was possible with watercolour thank you for showing us the potential of this medium. I love your experimentation, thanks Gabrielle
I love textures so much and when I paint with acrylics, they almost always show up in my painting so I'm happy to have found a way to make it happen with watercolors too. ☺️ I appreciate your kind words and I'm so happy you enjoyed this video, Sue 💕 Here are a few more videos where I use the watercolor ground to create textures in case you haven't had a chance to watch them yet: ru-vid.com/group/PLWTYyiAKGjewA5WGWtoPbNpLmkt6wFb8a.
Hi Again!! I have a question...i ordered the ground and mine seems much more watery than yours? I amy the 1st one back for that reason and the second one is the same? Its Daniel Smith ? Ideas?
Hi Stephanie 💕🤗 Though I have heard this once or twice from other viewers, I have not had this experience and I always buy Daniel Smith ground 🤔 So sadly, I'm not sure why this has been the case for you and I'm sorry to see you're having this experience. What I have suggested in the past is to leave the lid of your product open for a little bit and coming back to it frequently to stir it. I would really make sure not to leave it unattended for too long (so maybe set a timer if you need to walk away and you might forget). Try a few minutes at first, stirring often. Doing so might help to evaporate the excess liquid. Of course if it is as humid there as it is here, this could take a long time 😂 Mine seems to be the consistency of greek yogurt. It wouldn't keep tall peaks, but it can definitely hold some texture. I hope this helps! Thank you for making the time to reach out! ☺️
I am so intrigued by this because I've been wondering about using crackle medium over watercolor paper too! Does it buckle much? Crackle paste is so much fun, isn't it!? ☺️
I always write my reply out to send to you ahead of time in my notes. Well guess who forgot to copy it to comment to you? 🤦♀️ Here it is. 😂 Wow wow wow!! That was so interesting to watch you create all of that texture! I don't know how you come up with all of these creative ideas! I had to crack up about the little art stones, I knew where you were going before you got there! 😂 I knew because I spill stuff on my floor or desk all of the time! 🤦♀️ I am definitely an accident waiting to happen! As you painted the textures just came to life, and it looked amazing!! When you put that iridescent green on those blue stones 😍!! I wish I could see it in person! I think I would have to frame that piece my friend! 🤩 I've been having so much fun playing with my paints! I can't get enough of watching what the paint and water will do! A package I received had some unique looking cardboard packing inside, so I peeled off the outer layers of a piece of it, and a honeycomb pattern instead of the usual corrugated pattern was on the inside (I hope that makes sense). I painted the honeycomb cardboard part, and I used it like a stamp, and I put it on top of an abstract I had already painted. I put some weight on it, to keep it in place overnight. When I lifted it off, it had the neatest honeycomb texture! Most people wouldn't get it, but I was so excited! 🥳 Gosh I hope that makes sense! 😂 We need an unlimited supply of good watercolor paper to play! 😂 I can't remember if I told you, we finally got about 3 inches of snow, and it was just gorgeous, it just sparkled like diamonds! Well have a wonderful week! I look forward to seeing what you create every week! Thank you! ☺️🤗💚
Oh my!!! I’m so excited for you on so many accounts 😆😆😆 Snow!!! Yes!!! ❤️ Cardboard with honeycomb corrugating!!! YES!!! 🤩🤩🤩 How much fun is that! I do the same - everything around me has the potential to create something cool. ☺️ I get you my friend!! And I can sense that you get me too ❤️ Thank you so much for being so kind and enthusiastic about my painting ❤️🤗 I want to frame it because I love it and I think it’s really the only way to protect it. (You should have seen the mess I made in my studio when the jars of stones fell on the floor 😳😂😂😂 - it was an interesting clean up mission!! You would think I’d know better to be more careful by now 😂😂😂. Ah well, it made for a few good giggles 🤭) I hope you’re having an awesome week!! Lots of love heading your way ❤️🤗
It does have that "old" look, doesn't it ☺️ I enjoy being able to achieve effects with watercolors that I would have not thought possible before. Thank you for being here with me ❤️
QUESTIONS: What material did you use for the shapes? And you coverered them in watercolor ground and used it like modeling paste? love the colors…excited ro see how it turns out💖
I used watercolor paper 😉 When I do work like this where I cover the paper with WC ground, I typically use less expensive paper. I am using the watercolor ground to create texture much like I do with modeling paste when I work on acrylics. Some people have told me they use modeling paste instead of the watercolor ground, but I have yet to try this. In this video, I used the modeling paste to adhere my shapes to the paper. The first time I ever did this type of watercolor painting, I was trying to figure out how to use my watercolor ground because I had tried it in its other intended ways and I just wasn't impressed with how it worked. Rather than let it go to waste, I found that it worked quite well to add texture on my watercolor paintings. I have a few more videos where I use the wc ground - here's a link to the playlist in case you're interested: ru-vid.com/group/PLWTYyiAKGjewA5WGWtoPbNpLmkt6wFb8a. I hope this helps! Thank you for making the time to watch and connect ❤️
Always love watching you work! Concerning your Cuttlelola pen, I'm curious to know if you sense any vibration from the pen in your hand, wrist, or fingers? Is it any different from one substrate to another?
Thank you so much for being here with me ❤️ I have mild carpel tunnel syndrome along with an ulnar nerve impingement in my elbow. I was starting to have a really hard time using my fountain pen for stippling so that's why I finally decided to give the Cuttlelola pen a try. I am happy to say, the Cuttlelola pen does not bother my hand and arm at all. Because it goes so much faster than stippling by hand movement alone, it also prevents my hand and arm from getting tired. 🙏🏿☺️ I haven't really felt a whole lot of vibration using it either (maybe this is because I tape my paper to plexiglass - I'm not sure...) So, for me, this was a really good purchase! I haven't used the pen on anything other than watercolor paper so I can't really say how it would act on another substrate... 🤔 The biggest issue with it is probably the light tapping noise that comes from the pen tip hitting the paper. I can easily drown that out of my mind and hardly notice it anymore. Some people might be bothered by this though. I hope this helps! ☺️
Your creativity just amazes me and inspires me so much. You try newer things and make it so much fun. Thanks for sharing and inspiring to keep trying bringing new elements to watercolours painting and making it so much more fun. You are awesome ❤
Aww ❤️ I love this! I'm so happy you enjoyed this one too! ☺️ Texture is one of my favorite elements to include in artwork. It's fun to share these ideas with you and I love knowing you're feeling inspired for your own work. Thank you so much for your kindness 💕🤗
I’m setting up a new creative space and discovered a large container of molding paste wondered why did I buy it and what to do with it! Serendipity 🥰😉 amazing video wonderful instruction!! Thank you can’t wait to get this space done and start creating 💕
YAY!!! I'm so excited for you Linda! Have fun putting your new space together and then have even more fun making a mess in it 😁😂 Thank you for making the time to watch and connect with your kind words! ❤️ Here are a few more videos of mine you might enjoy where I use similar techniques: ru-vid.com/group/PLWTYyiAKGjewA5WGWtoPbNpLmkt6wFb8a.
What a creative idea! I would have never thought to put those stones on a watercolor piece, but it worked out very well. I really need to experiment more. Thanks so much for the inspiration you give all of us. 🌻
So happy to share Christie ☺️❤️ I wasn't sure how the watercolor would work over top the stones, but it did work quite well. At one point I sprayed some water over the stones right after adding my paint though and of course, the paint washed right off instead of spreading slightly - lesson learned 😂 Thank you for your kind words! Enjoy this day! 🤗
Thank you so much Donna 💕🤗 I love working with texture so much! I'm glad you enjoyed this one too! I have a few other videos where I play with watercolor ground - these little paintings are such a joy to create! ☺️ Here's a link to this playlist in case you've missed some of these videos: ru-vid.com/group/PLWTYyiAKGjewA5WGWtoPbNpLmkt6wFb8a
Thanks Julie ❤️🤗 I love using this fixative: amzn.to/42LPqSd - a light coat usually works quite well. It’s important to use this product in a well ventilated room.
Can I ask a question please Gabrielle? Did you use modeling paste to glue the big square onto your watercolour paper rather than ordinary glue because you wanted the added texture of the modeling paste to raise your square up and give it a 3D quality or was there a different reason for your choice? Thanks for your help 🌺
Hi ❤️☺️ Thank you for your question! I used the modeling paste instead of glue because it is more porous than glue and the watercolor will adhere to the modeling paste if any of it seeped out on the sides. I think it could be ok to use glue if you make sure to cover any seepage with watercolor ground before starting to add your colors. Glue can be a bit like plastic when it dries though and I'm not sure how well the watercolor ground would continue to adhere once everything dries fully. There might be concerns about the ground peeling off the glue over time. But, I have never tried it so I cannot say for sure. Unless you are trying to sell any artwork you create, I think it's ok to experiment and see what would happen. If you would like to sell your artwork then it's generally good to use products that have more archival longevity. I hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching and for making the time to connect 💕
Molt bonic Gabrielle, sempre superante. El art de les textures sempre man cautibat, una gran idea lo de les pedres espectacular 😊. Endabant un plaer voret les teves obres bona semana❤.
You are the Queen of texture this week! The turquoise stones are so reminiscent of the shapes you paint in at the end of your geologic abstract paintings….almost surprised one of them didn’t end up gold! 😆 A wonderful reminder this week of Rule number 6 and the fun in trying new things. Thank you as always for the inspiration, it is always a joy to listen to you. Have an amazing week B xx 💙💫
Ah Bernice 🤗💕 Aren't these little stones fun?! Maybe I'll use them in one of my geologic abstracts some time because they do definitely fit the theme (and trust me, I was tempted to add gold to them 😂 - it will surely happen in another painting 😉) Thank you so much for being here with me and also for being so kind to me every week 🥰 I appreciate you! Have an amazing week too sweet friend 🤗💕
I'm so sorry to see the smell of this product is not good for you. I am thankful that it doesn't affect me, but I do have other scent allergies so I can imagine how it would be better for you to avoid it. Some people in our community have mentioned that it is possible to create your own texture paste using readily available products that may not have any scent. I haven't tried this myself, but maybe it would be worth doing a little bit of research online to see if you could find a recipe you might be able to use. 🤔 If you do give it a try, I'd really love to know what you think! Thank you so much for making the time to connect with me and thank you for your kindness ❤️
