The TF40 315 16*19 is the real deal!!! Have played only 4-5 hours, but man it feels great! I do agree that some may need to add a few grams at 9 and 3 or at 12 o clock, but that's up to some experimentation that will ultimately work great with this frame. Excellent maneuverability. Excellent for 1 handed backhands. Excellent access to underspin. Excellent hitting with some top spin. Lacks a bit of power on flat forehands and flat serves, but that's easily solved with just a few grams in the right place that will not change the overall whippiness of this racket. I actually bought a TF-X1, just a few days after this one and maybe will try to get an TFight Iso 315. I'm very impressed.

Hi, great review. I use in this moment a VCore98 2021 with Wilson revolve spin, do you think the 305 18x20 is better racquet overall for an intermediate player (baseline attacker with good service) or do you think the Yonex is a better choice?
@theroadie08

What are your thoughts on the grip size of Tecnifibre? I heard they were more rectangular grip pallets. I prefer a wilson in grip size 4 but might consider a 3 in the TF40. Any thoughts?

This newer model is MUCH better IMO. I’m a high level player and I made a switch to this new model from the Blade V8. I can’t say enough about how incredible this racquet is. Liked it a lot more than the older model as well. More solid but also softer and plusher. Great spin and control for an 18x20. The maneuverability is so good for the SW, it almost feels like a cheat code for a racquet. It rewards you the harder and faster you swing. I feel like i can’t miss since I switched. The volleys were insanely good as well, I could place the ball on a dime. Highly recommend demoing! I already bought 3. Just going through the trying different strings phase but every string I’ve tried so far has worked well. It must be a good racquet if Jonas is thinking about making a switch as well. It feels like a 12.5 oz prostock but in a not super heavy package. The balance is about 2/3 points HL which I never used to enjoy but that balance on this racquet really feels sweet when swinging. Don’t miss out guys!
@Soul_guided
@Soul_guided 2 года назад
Hi Charlie, I'm wondering how a racket with such low HL balance (2/3 pts strung) and high swing weight ( 333 Jonas racket don't know about yours) can be so good in maneuverability as you said? specs say completely the opposite )) that's why I'm a little bit doubting to get this racket or not, or maybe go for the new speed pro.
@Mewborne89
@Mewborne89 2 года назад
@@Soul_guided it is a good question! Swingweight is around 330, which sounds heavy but Jonas agreed with what I said as well, that for some reason the racquet is very maneuverable. I don’t have a scientific answer, it could be in his and my head. I’ve played with almost every racquet on the market and this is top 5 in my opinion in maneuverability. I’m not a huge guy but I’m pretty strong so that could have something to do with it as well and I’m about a 6.0 level player. So maneuverable to me could be way different to you. Comparing it to my V8’s, it was definitely better in that department. This racquet and it’s specs don’t match the way it plays. I hit with it first, then checked out the specs and couldn’t believe it. I think reading a ton into specs can get into your head a bit. That’s why I always just hit with a racquet first so my thoughts and opinions come from the experience, not what I read and put in my head. My advice would be to demo it. That’s what I did. Never just buy a racquet without trying a decent amount. The new Speed Pro is about 330 swingweight as well, just a heads up. Heard good things about that racquet as well. Make sure your level matches the racquet. You’ll hate if your level is low and you get a very advanced stick!
@Soul_guided
@Soul_guided 2 года назад
@@Mewborne89 cheers mate , make sense what you said , I agree that it’s better to test the racket rather then stuck on specs. I’m strong intermediate , 4.0- 4.5 , recently have played with gravity pro for some times , but then I realised that when I play more with advanced players on high pace or I’m not physically in very good shape to move properly racket became cumbersome to play after 1:00hrs . Now I’m playing with new prestige mp ( 18/19) with leather grip , this racket also lack in manoeuvrability if I play under the same conditions mentioned above due to the high swing weight . So I’m looking for control oriented racket , arm friendly , with nice feel , but little bit more forgiving and more manoeuvrable , unfortunately I can’t demo the racket her, I buy, test for few weeks , then sell on eBay if I don’t like it . Some how I feel this racket might suit my game , obviously I’m not so advanced like you , but I’m used to middle heavy range of control oriented rackets with the average swing weight of 330 , anything above 335 sw could be a bit cumbersome to play for me .
@Mewborne89
@Mewborne89 2 года назад
@@Soul_guided okay, you’re actually at a solid level that is open to a good amount of racquets. You’re got great taste in racquets! The Prestige with a leather grip is a nice racquet and love the Gravity Pro. I’m a leather grip user as well. So I have a few suggestions now that I know a little more about you. The first one is the most boring, and that is get stronger with that you have. That’ll open you up to be able to use almost any racquet. What I mean is maybe use yours more or start working with some weights. But if you don’t want to do that, here are a couple options. Try the Blade V8. It’s a very solid racquet but in stock form, maybe even with a leather grip the swingweight is nice and low but hits like a heavy racquet. Then I would recommend this stick, the Tecnifibre TF 40, probably the 16x19. It has a lower swingweight than the 18x20 and the string pattern would be better for your level. If you try the new Speed’s, probably go with the Pro because although the SW is close to 330, it gives you a little extra pop than these other sticks do with the bigger head and thicker beam. It’s going to be like the Gravity though but add a little power. If you really want to go outside the box, highly recommend Yonex. The new E Zone was super solid and so was the new Yonex V Core. The Head Extreme Tour is another one you would really like and definitely throw on a leather grip and add a little lead. Besides that nothing out there is worth much of a try IMO. I would say pick a new stick and stay with it while you learn and get stronger physically. Any of the sticks I mentioned will suit you well. Especially the Blade V8 because it’s got the most solid feel with the lowest SW. Good luck! Let me know if you have anymore questions. I’m a big racquet nerd and I can always narrow this list down with more info on you. Your size, stroke style, age, game style, etc.

Hi Jonas, you said that this frame is more for higher levels players. which racket would you recommend for the lower intermediate player around 3.0 eager to level up, and looking for very control oriented frames like this one, but which are a little more forgiving / help a bit more to generate spin? I feel like I don’t have issues generating my own power but Im still learning how to generate my own topspin and need a bit more forgiveness while not comprising control. Thanks!

Hi Jonas, like you I started out with old-school frames and still play with a Wilson PS 6.6 tour classic - 95 head, 18x20, higher weight… I’m just coming back to tennis after a very long break (25 years!) and so I’m not nearly as advanced a player as I used to be in high school. But after demo’ing a few 100sq in modern frames I find myself gravitating back to my more control-oriented Wilson PS. Sounds like the Tecnifibre would be a good fit for me even though I’m definitely not 4.5 currently. What do you think? I remember from a past video you were in a similar situation when you started out with tennis again after a break…I’m 42 by the way, so close in age ;)

Hi Jonas! Could you let us know what the grip shape is on this new TF40? I'm not a fan of the more rectangle shapes and I heard they updated the shape a bit compared to the previous TF40. Is it more similar to the Wilson shape or the old Head handle shape?

Hey, Jonas! Have strange question from a technical side of the racket. Mine TF40 305 18x20 came highly under spec (unstrung 297g), but it felt great. I naturaly have lots of top spin. This racket helped me to make my game flatter. Now I desiced to wrap it with leather grip to increase weight. So in total leather grip added 8 grams. Racket became 5 points HL. With the same motion now I have much more top spin. The question is how the top spin increased? Is it because of the racket balance (swingweight should be almost the same)? Or is it because of the leather grip and sharper bevels, to have clear semi wester grip?

Not Jonas and kinda late, more headlight racquet tends to be more whippy. That helps with technique of generating topspin.

I ain't a fan of 18x20 pattern, I have tried a few racket on it, just feel really stiff strings probably cause of the small string wholes, got tennis elbow with it on Head Speed Pro of a friend racket last summer and besides you have to put more effort to execute top spins on both side. It fits more for Flat hitters which I'm not anymore this style, just move on. I'm using 16x19 which better feel and it fits for me for good.

Fellow Tennis nerds, maybe you can help me with my current situation. I bought this frame (TF40 315 16x19) a couple of weeks ago and even though I think it has a great feeling and comfort I am struggling with two aspects. Firstly, as the racquet is so head light, I am lacking of plow through when accelerating the racquet. I have tried to solve this with lead tape, which has helped, but not completely. I think it is kind of hard coming from a 32cm balance racquet like the head gravity tour. I don´t want to keep adding lead tape until it is like 350gr or more, so it is hard to find a balance (the static weight with one overgrip and strung is 339gr, I don’t wanna go over 344gr) Secondly and most importantly, I have big issues with control. The ball keep springing out of the stringbed, so I am missing a lot of balls, and it produces a sense of insecurity by swinging out. I am an 5.0 player with long strokes, so having the control is key for me to go with my shots. I have been playing with an hybrid of lynx tour with signum pro firestorm at 23kg, but now I will give it a try just with lynx tour at 24kg (I hope this does not take the comfort away). I don´t want to keep increasing the tension, avoiding shoulder and arm pain in general is a big priority. I hope that you can comment on how could I find a solution between these three aspects: increasing SW-more control-keep good comfort levels. Thank you very much. Juan
