I got it last year before they increased the prices. 1 million baht for 20 years. I did it because I hate having to do visa runs and any dealings with immigration. The 90 day report can be done either online or by an agent. If you live in Bangkok, Phuket or Chiang Mai then you can just hand your passport off at the Thailand Privilege office. No more dangerous border runs, no more queuing up at the airport, no more being made to feel like a criminal by immigration officers.

It’s definitely a rip-off. The reality is these SE Asian countries have gotten greedy because they assume tourism won’t slowdown, but just wait because the world is headed for economic hard times (i.e. recession) with ongoing inflation/greed and eventually the bubble will burst, at which point tourism will experience a slowdown. That said, not only is the visa process in Thailand annoying, but Thailand isn’t as appealing nowadays because the cost-of-living is overpriced if you take into account the average Thai salary.

What do you find overpriced in Thailand compare to before?
@DamienGWilson
@DamienGWilson 3 месяца назад
@@waytooready3898 Thailand is over saturated with foreigners and as such the locals are continuing to inflate the price of everything. Sure, you can go live there and find reasonably priced accommodations and goods, but it’s not as easy nor even close to as good a value as it once was as a retirement/relocation destination. Take for example a country such as Vietnam, where the price of goods and accommodation aren’t inflated above what most locals can reasonably afford. In (Ho Chi Ming) Vietnam, it’s very easy to find a modern apartment in the prime part of the city for ~$600 or less, whereas that’s not the case anymore in Bangkok (for that price you’re staying on the outskirts or in a neighboring province). Besides that, Thailand is now taxing any money expats transfer into the country, and so I can’t justify paying all that money for a visa along with the requirement to make a visa run every 90 days and also pay tax on money transferred into the country.

You made an excellent point about the potentiality of a not-so-distant economic slowdown worldwide. It's very much in the cards.

You compared apples to oranges. Comparing Thai elite visa which has no age requirements to retirement programs makes no sense. Should’ve compared Thai retirement programs instead.

The biggest issue with Thai Privilege is that it is a scam, as many pass holders claim not to have received the services offered by Thai Privilege.

I know it’s a crime in Thailand which proves how much Thailand’s Elite is trying to prevent people from speaking the truth about their experiences. It really is an ant nation. As customer reviews suggest, Thai privilege is not delivering all services they promise, which is a text definition of a scam. Foreigners should consider filing lawsuits!

@@NomadElite I get you, but to be fair the Thai Elite visa isn't designed for the middle class, it's tailored for wealthy foreigners. If you’re concerned about not receiving all the benefits from the visa, you’re likely not the intended audience. Most participants don't even use half of the available perks.

Dude, just stop with the doom and gloom all you have to do to retire in Thailand is be 50 years old show ฿65,000 a month income or deposit $22,000 in the bank and you will have no problem whatsoever. If you can’t do that they shouldn’t accept you anyways.
@NomadElite

You’re right about the retirement visa. That’s fine assuming you’ve reached retirement age. This video is about Thai Privilege, a ridiculously overpriced tourist visa!
@bsways
@bsways Месяц назад
Not that simple. The income route needs to be verified and embassies are no longer doing that so the only option is the deposit. $22000usd is $34000aud so to me it’s a lot more. I have more than enough and was considering doing that but now they have also introduced new tax laws which has added another layer of red tape BS. They say that retirement pension funds etc will not be taxed however for people like me who will live off rental income and savings interest there is no such promise. Sure Australia has a double taxation treaty with Thailand however I will already need to file my taxes in Australia and have no desire to also file in Thailand and have to go through the process of proving to Thai authorities that I’ve already paid tax. It’s just another tedious time consuming thing added to the ever growing list of ways for the Thai government to control every aspect of your life. The whole idea of having to alert authorities when leaving the province for more than 24 hours is also beyond the pale. I wish to retire with some freedom but Thailand has become like a nanny state so now I’m considering retiring in other more relaxed countries in the region.

Yes it’s a huge scam! You basically get nothing that comes close to equivalent value with any of these visas. Their concierge benefits are a joke really. I pay under 5000 bt a year for my marriage visa with a multiple entry permit. I’m married to a Thai and have a half half child so eligible for a dependent visa. I’m also over 50 so I also qualify for a retirement visa. I only need to show 40k in income every month right now and that’s it. Nothing in the Thai bank here is tied up. Why would I ever pay such ridiculous amounts of money for so little? Why would anyone? Even if you’re not in my situation.
