Why do I get the feeling all people are going to be talking about is this new Reylo-ish "will they/wont they" situation? Anyhow, here are my thoughts on the latest waste of cinemas once greatest I.P. #StarWars #TheAcolyte
I watched the original trilogy 10 years ago just to understand the hype before watching the force awakens, and since then I only watch RU-vid drama about Star Wars because it's way more interesting than this commercialised, overrated BS
You know it’s a Disney product when they’re not afraid to add a wet shirtless guy as a thirst trap; but simultaneously decide that Leia in a bikini is problematic.
i say the objectification of the body is an equal opportunity fair game for all genders. if it serves a purpose for the story, then i don’t see what the issue is with nudity. the problem arises when men or women are topless as a prop and it adds nothing more to the plot.
Yeah that scene would have worked if we had seen ocea struggle with her hate for the jedi for kicking her out... Its weird that they set the proper plot lines and yet fail to deliver in every single on of them There is an entertaining script here its just executed poorly...
Sith mind reading check: "Yord would've probably died from ironing his clothes while wearing them and Jecki wasn't really your friend... Either way, sun's out, guns out."
@@a3-radio It is always backwards. Noone cares about the characters. So their "mystery traps" like this do not work. Oh no, Sol is hiding something dark in his past, oh no, what may it be? Noone cares. All we see is a guy who behaves extremely illogical with 0 common sense and care.
the worst part is that despite all the "the force is female" BS, they gave the female lead NO agency, both characters she's playing just gets dragged around by other people the whole series and any time they do decide to do something on their own the story just forgets it happened (ie. Mae deciding to surrender to the Jedi)
It's by design. They don't want you to enjoy stories with "minorities," they want it to suck to cause division. And they don't want us to have moving stories or music at all because we might be uplifted or inspired. It's not like people suddenly got uninspired and lost all talent, it's just that powerful people want the masses desolate. It must burn their ass that so many of us are still entertained by criticism vids.
Y’all cried for a decade that Rey was too strong, now y’all are crying that Osha is too weak. I’m starting to think the real problem is that you just don’t like female characters.
@@aeschylus6250I’m sure there is a not insignificant portion of the Star Wars fan base that this applies to. But that doesn’t mean Rey, Osha, and Mae aren’t just poorly written characters. Also, OP never said anything about Osha being too weak. Sounds to me like you need to check your own bias.
Just met you 5 minutes ago at half price books. Just wanna say thanks for taking time to allowing me to meet you. I'll never look at the cyborg movie the same anymore 😂
That’s awesome! I’m intrigued on why you won’t look at it the same anymore? Unless it’s just because you associate it with meeting him and he didn’t tell you something about the movie
@mikebell2162 so I went into the half price book store that day to look at VHS movies to buy then I see him with a Cyborg VHS in his hand as I meet him. Such a nice guy he is.
Disney sold this show as ground-breaking from a creator who has an interesting opinion about the world of Star Wars It is just a poorly done Reylo Fanfic...
Good arms and Abs, but skipped chest day for some reason. In all seriousness he’s the best thing in the show along with Sol. He’s a very good actor and I expect we’ll see him in more movies after this.
That's actually a really good point Jeremy - Mae's infiltration attempt went nowhere. Then again, it brought us Bazil vs Mae! Show didn't have enough budget to show the Wookie fight, instead we got a kung fu beaver.
@@TheBestPill-no2xp On EFAP, Critical Drinker, Heelvsbabyface, LittlePlatoon... There's entertainment to be had with this - it's just not on Disney Plus 😄
@@MrBrock314 Yeah, OK... I have not had Disney+ since _She-Hulk_ Episode 3. *All you dorks that have made an Olympic sport out of complaining about Disney Star Wars are **_exactly_** the same as sports gamers* that complain about Electronic Arts Madden football video game...and buy it every year. It's pathetic, weak, and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
The fact that we’ve seen Jeremy go from slightly optimistic to just downright alcoholism in 6 episodes is impressive. Good on you for not tapping out after episode 0 like most people.
He was definitely not “slightly optimistic” to begin with lol. He was very mid on the show after the premiere, and said he wasn’t even sure if he was going to continue making videos about it.
No. Tap out. One video about this show is all Jahns’ platform needed. It’s a waste of time to watch the show and a waste of time to produce these videos about it. Same with House of the Dragon, or whatever. They’re bad shows. Let’s all move on. There are legitimately promising movies (or shows, I guess) that I would love a review on. I only clicked on this video to leave comments like this one.
Jeremy, you're doing the Lord's work. So glad I've given up on these Star Wars show and I won't forgive Disney for wasting a perfectly fine Manny Jacinto on this.
@@faizahmohammedaruwa I'm just being pedantic because he said he's afraid OF Jeremy's liver not FOR it. It brought up a humourous mental image of someone being chased by a liver.
Uhm actually 🤓 alcohol causes just as much damage to the brain as the liver aka wet brain. So Jeremy’s brain is of more concern since it’s taking a double hit 💁🏻♂️
The way characters drip-feed us tiny scraps of information and then either walk away or get interrupted by a conveniently timed problem. It allows the writers to spin out short, simple conversations into entire episodes.
Good point. The season would be 2-3 episodes shorter if during both the sister's 2nd meeting on the forest planet they just asked "Wait, you think 16 years ago I burned down the whole place and killed our witch sisters?" - "Ok so what actually happened that night according to you?"
Green Jedi lady is the big bad, she tried to kill apprentice thirst trap with her flexi saber ( back wound ) and he wants revenge through doppelganger no 1
And I remember Jeremy being all excited on those SW quizz games at conventions, answerimg difficult questions about the expanded universe and so on... annd now, watching him, as well as a major part of the SW fandom, not giving a **** anymore is so sad... Disney has massacred our boy.
He will be fine. It's not a basic necessity. I just don't understand how can you dislike something for so long and stick around the entire time. Grifters I guess.
I'm in the same boat, brother. Read 150+ novels and countless comics. Edited Wookieepedia for years. Won a local SW trivia contest twice in a row so thoroughly, they asked me to join the jury so things could be interesting again. Now, I don't even feel the anger anymore. TFA and TLJ are so far in the rear window, they can't even hurt me anymore. I don't watch the news stuff because I don't care one bit. Apathy is death.
@@malachi8154that's how become, I still watch this to see what's going on. But I don't react or let it affect me like it used and like it seems to affect creators like SW Theory. (No shade on him, dudes passionate about this like I used to be, I just hope he doesn't have a stroke before finally moving on!😅)
@@bradmiles1984 But then still dropped 180 mill anyways? Nah, tv shows are just generally easier to launder money through because there is much more going on and bigger time crunches with lots of 'extra' guests opportunities.
My bet for the scars on SmiloRen's back is from the green jedi's purple whip saber. Explains the waves in the scarring and why they even showed her Saber in the episode.
I am making the call now! SmiloRen’s old master is the green Jedi lady. And the reason the scars on his back don’t look like lightsaber burns is because it is SaberWhip marks.
The Acolyte is pretty much the perfect encapsulation of Disney live action Star Wars lately...A pretty cool idea on the surface that totally fumbles its execution.
Something to note: Green master Jedi lady has a unique lightsaber that has a whip like plasma blade. I have a feeling they showed that cause it is what left that scar on Qimir's back.
They had the sith guy kidnap a woman then expose himself full frontal to her without her consent lol headland definitely writes what she knows I suppose, had me feeling real awkward watching it NGL
@@dan7564 "she stalked him" he kidnapped her lol she has no power in this situation which makes it really fucking weird no matter if it's star wars or any other IP
Sol wants to save both kids. He’s still bothered about what happened and probably feels guilty. You know the whole “what’s in the box” plot. It justifies him trying to do it solo. I just hope that the reveal isn’t a let down.
My god, 20 years from now JJ when you are a full blown alcoholic, you can pinpoint the moment your life went downhill and hopefully sue Lucas Film for this.
This show, Ahsoka, Kenobi, and BoBF were all supposed to be movies under the "A Star Wars Story" label. After Solos box office flop, Disney announced that they were stopping the ASWS series and focussing on Disney+. My guess is these shows were all half-baked movie scripts that have been stuffed with filler and cut into episodes. This one is the most egregious so far with all the awkward cuts and cliffhangers out of nowhere. I mean what was that ending scene in this episode? It's so amateur it hurts! $180 million for this? Cmon.
The problem with this thought process is that if they were afraid of another box office flop, then why spend $180M just to put it on Disney+. They aren't recouping that much money from a show on a streaming service. Nothing about their actions make sense because Acolyte doesn't even mesh with the High Republic books that Disney created.
Respectfully, I had the impression that green Jedi lady senses that it was *not* Sol and was her former padawan: Smilo Ren. Scar on the back is the light whip.
I let it go at the time, but the more I think about it the more I think it is super weird that Sol did not turn around to get Osha when he realized that it was Mae with him. Especially since one of the things that they tried to set up is that Sol is protective of Osha like a father.
We're at the runtime of Fellowship of the ring...(and a little into 2 towers) and what has happened? We know as little as we did when we started. And wow the dialogue is so bad.
Can we talk about Mae's ridiculous scream when she gets sprayed with oil in her eye? It was insane and then 2 seconds after it was like nothing happened. Also, im calling it now, Green Jedi Lady gave Smilo Ren the back scars.
Very relevant comment about the shortcut. I heard Theravada Buddhists monk being asked if a person should take sedatives or antidepressants to suppress the desire (source of suffering) they always say no. That is a shortcut that defeats point of Buddhism.
uh no, good villains think they are doing the right thing, no one wants to think of themselves as the villain in their own story, they all delude themselves to be “the saviour”. example: anakin skywalker
@@Dp_is_Op Well, given this is Disney - age... Is malleable... And well, humans can live and age as much as required for the story. Why? Because - "Oh, you accept Space Magic but not what we said as this guy's age? WOW!"
I really like that Jeremy actually critisizes the bad writing and is not diving into the whole other internet scandals and shouting around this show. A show needs to be judged primarily by its writing and plot ❤
@@nitinmathew5391except they do focus on the show's merits. If you actually watched their videos, you would know this. It's just that they also focus on other things surrounding the show.
@@gokaury Not really they mostly just complain on the social issues of the time and how shows they're watching art conforming to these social angle that they prefer
Yeah, you nailed it all. Venestra's assistant reminds me of Dedra Meera's assistant. And Venestra is starting to remind me of Dedra Meera. They're telling this story like a summer camp counselor telling a ghost story over the fireplace.
It’s so obvious since they’ve introduced the whip sabre in the this episode and sith guy said the scars on his back were from his master, that baldy green Jedi woman was his old master and gave him those scars
About the back scar: Clearly done with the light whip (I guess? Lol) by the green lady. About everyone being validated and “grey”: 100%. That pretty much represents today’s society in a nutshell(especially here in North America).
