I wonder if the Baccai are just Shuriman furries who tried Ascension and didn't have a good enough reference sheet for their fursona so the Sun Disc got it wrong?
maybe they were really loyal to shurima and that's why they went through trials, after their failure they had too much honour and loyalty that they didn't turn on shurima. Maybe some corrupted like darkin but those were killed by strong ascended. Note: I like lore but I am not knowlledgable about it, please don't be harh if I'm mistaken.
@@ahmetsedatkaya367 There would be no reason to feel hatred towards the empire from the perspective of the Baccai in the first place. As the quotes say, they either fled out of themselves or they were spared. The fact that they got to attempt an ascension shows they were probably important/loyal members of the Shuriman empire in the first place as you noted, but simply not worthy enough to become ascended. No reason to turn on the empire out of nowhere after that. As for the Darkin, they weren't Baccai. They were regular ascendants who went mad for power over time combined with the PTSD/corruption from the battle of Icathia where they came in contact with the Void.
@@randomname8616 I'm curious why the Baccai's are considered a failed ascension. Is there some sort of criteria that determines whether the ascension is a success or not? Because the Baccai's look pretty powerful to me, I mean just look at Xerath. Or maybe something about their appearance? that it's incomplete (not fully covered in fur/scales!? lol) or they're somewhat deformed maybe? that some parts are still human? 😅
@@ezraking4176 They already said that the Baccai's form are similar to how they could've actually been so it's obvious that you're considered a Baccai if the transformation is incomplete (because others can see it and you can feel it yourself)
@@ezraking4176 probably yes some of them had multiple arms and so on plus some still have human skin which is probably a sign of imperfect ascension but even thou if they are not perfect they are still better than humans and can be put to use
Sadly, voice interactions only imply relationships but they do not necessarily indicate the real lore accurate relationships all the time. They are really close to it though. With that said, I still think Renekton is not as apathetic as Necrit thinks or as he is in the story, hence Renekton may care for them even just a tiny bit.
@@chexblu Haha, yeah sometimes he is annoying, but i still need hear him like ''I am not your enemy, i am THE ENEMY'' and charge into the enemy , goosebumps dude, especially with the Blood moon skin.
From the interactions in LoR, Renekton seems to be in good company with the Sand Threshers so I think he is not apathetics towards them. He even asks how well their crocodile pet is doing.
Interactions are based on who your ally/enemies are so it's not a good basis of confirmation. That's why we mostly go to the card description, not the VLs
Not to like... challenge Necrit's lore power, but when talking about Sanctum Conservator (15:19), he mentions that "we never really learned what the Curator's judgment was." (15:52) But isn't that just Weight of Judgment? Nasus is the "Curator of the Sands", so I assumed that "The Curator" was Nasus. Edit: Added Timestamps
yeah, pretty much. when talking about the "Curator" in the lore, one would obviously think of Nasus, and judging by the context, it would be wrong for it to not be Nasus.. don't worry Necrit does sometimes miss/overlook details like this from time to time.
The Curator is definitely Nasus. If you have Devoted Council out and you play Nasus, she says something along the lines of "It is good to fight by your side, Curator."
There are some interactions between Azir and Sivir that I find funny because of the fact that Azir wants to connect with the last remaining member of his family, though he is failing at that.
Nasus: "What good comes in mortal greed?" Baccai Reaper: "Punishment. If I serve as an example." There is also a message right there I guess. Some of them might be unworthy to be ascended due to greed for power etc. I swear Nasus is so kind towards the baccai. Despite they were shunned by the people, he still cares for them and gives them jobs to work with him. Good ol' doggo.
@@SpieleSuchti894 In fact they are! The first use of the word Darkin was to name mad sunborn warriors, Myisha is the one that twisted the word and used it to name her new creations
That hyenna baccai is so cool. Its really sad to see such cool concepts in runeterra while in league we have seraphine, like there are some pretty cool looking carachters in the shadow isles, like the pig guy and that creepy kid, in the shurima the baccai and other ascended, it would be very cool to have a baccai in game. Shame that riot got "good" at concept art so late
Saw in a video that the new champions are made to cater to chinese audience since the "handsome" looks are more popular over there, cannot give you a link tho, so take It with a grain of salt
In that case all piltover and zaun characters dont belong either, I mean all the inventions they have and all and then you have the rest of the regions still living in the medieval ages so yeah just not Seraphine but that region in general doesnt belong
@@gerardoalvarado8425 I disagree. Just like Piltover and Zaun use inventions, other regions use magic. They're both using something to make them more powerful than just being human, it's just two different ways of doing it. Besides Demacia because they're traditionalist, but they shouldn't even be considered, then.
Ugly and monster champs dont sell as well in the tencent motherland of china. Thats why the egirls and kpop boys are the majority of the newer champs We are only getting 1 monster champ a year and last years was.... yuumi so that doesnt boad well I feel like this all started with kai'sa tbh
@@TheLux008 Piltover and Zaun use both magic and science and are more advance while the other regions are still shitting in bushes(Frejlord),having witch hunts(Demacia) or scared of other nations(Ixtal) idk about you but they are out place here. Literally they could take over almost everyone with their magic/science but yeah they seriously fit this game world where the next advance region is Noxus/Bilgewater lmao
@@Gidonamor My theory is that because the Baccai protect the underground tombs, and likely also the hidden libraries of Shurima, Nasus has chosen to ally with them or happened to stumble across them. Because the Baccai feel like failures and are frustrated they basically seek Nasus' validation as a succesful ascended and serve him as guardians of his libraries now.
So... we really aren't going to talk about the newly aquired lore that according to Renekton, Nasus likes reading trashy romance novels before going to sleep? 😆 Idk why but I absolitely love this little bir of information. It's not that relevant to the plot, it's not all that serious or whatever... but it's a nice look into the personal life of a character and I love it
"One life, tho that others may thrive." - It may refere to the ascension, but doesn´t Nasus also say something like "a necessary sacrifice" when ulting? I would interpret it as him taking some lifes (or souls) in exchange for the power to save many others.
@Unkowned4Ever Yeah I think the Curator's (Nasus') Judgment is siphoning or igniting a soul so that others may thrive, in runeterra you can easely see why he says that because he gains stats whenever you slay units and rite of calling specifically searches him from the deck. I guess i mentioned weight of judgment and rite of calling here.
I thought weight of judgement was a reflection of Nasus deciding to lock Renekton in with Xerath, with Renektons “life,” being sacrificed in order for others to survive.
Hey, Necrit, can you please do the Leblanc cards? I’m really excited to see that one because I feel like it opened a lot of doors for her overall story and adds to the true depth of mystery that is The Deceiver.
Unfortunately he probably won't. Like, there's other champion cards revealed like Zoe, Victor, Swain, Soraka and etc. that come before LeBlanc but Necrit did not make a video about them.
I don't know why he wants to avoid doing a Leblanc video, her interactions and cards are so interesting lol, I really would like him to look deeply in her art, voice lines etc. in her card we even see a female minotaur for the first time...
I'm new to these riot stuff, i started when I'm playing Wildrift. I search almost everything about runeterra universe and some league esport, i already watched kda, pentakill, and some of the champ trailer. I also searched the story of Faker, Tyler1, and Caps. I really hooked with riot company.
Sivir also appears to slay a jackal warrior in her level up animation. Could it be that there are jackal vastaya in Shurima? Although any human-animal hybrids in Shurima outside of the ascended/baccai seem to be unheard of
Nasus has a lot of references to egyptian mythology. He's based on Anubis who is a God of death, so the theme of syphoning makes sense. His spell and the quote most likely reference that in egyptian mythology the dead are tested and either they pas and they re good or their hearth gets eaten by a monster. The weight of judgement card references the process. You hearth is placed in a scale with a feather of truth being placed on the other side. If you lie, your hearth gets eaten. If I made any mistake, feel free to correct me.
The Baccai seem to work for Nasus somehow, because he is the Curator they are talking about. The Reaper, the Sandspinner and the two-headed Baccai remind me of the Moirae in Greek Mythology. These are the ones, who have the fate of every person, i believe even of the gods, in their hands.
He is simply Necrit himself using an alternate account commenting on his own video to boost his channel's statistics in the RU-vid algorithm. Raul Gillette.
6:30 Necrit, I saw some interesting reference. Check out Nasus's armguards. It looks exactly like Seekers Armguard, a part of Zhonyas. Maybe these are not Demacian, but Shuriman. That even explains Seekers passive, that stacks armor. Please like, so Necrit sees it :3
There used to be this somewhat popular theory of Rhaast being a baccai that i really really, since it mirrors so well Kayns desire to prove himself worthy
I hope this season monster champ is a baccai the lore focusing on viego maybe going in shurima it could be a possibilty or perhaps for next season with a season 12 focuses on shurima
10:10 and 14:00 This is also a reference to the egypt god anubis nasus is based on. One of Anubis task was to measure the souls of the recently died and then decide what will happen to them.
If you rewatch the shurima cinematic for LoR u can see that as nasus and renekton start fighting the angrier they get the bigger they get as well. Idk if I'm the only one that ever noticed but it's noteworthy to say the least.
Dunno if this has been noted yet, but when nasus’s wither buff dropped (range increase) he was also supposed to grow bigger with q stacks. I forgot why this was removed.
I should note that the baccai using time magic would make a lot of sense, especially if they are related to Nasus, as Nasus' Wither (W) weakens its target by rapidly aging them. It's therefore likely that the Baccai Sandspinner is using magic very similar to that, if not the exact same magic.
About Curator - if you look though cards interactions, a lot of Shurimans refer to Nasus as Curator, so Conservator's quote with 99% chance refers to Nasus. Also after adding all quotes about soul measuring, judgement and ascending to the godhood to the pile, I think Nasus right now is the god of afterlife in Shurima and Conservators are his followers who got some of his power the same way Azir shared his own.
I'm curious about the Baccai, since their accenssion failed, does that mean that they are immortal like those who successfully asscend, it would be an insane punishment to have that shame for all eternity.
Yes,theyare immortal.Nasus andRenekton came back not long ago after the fall of Shurima centuries ago,and since then nobody else ascended so they are immortal and already very old
Has Necrit a video where he explains the whole "Darkhin, Blood Magic and how it is related to Shurima" stuff? I’m really interested in the theory that Renekton and Nasus both have some sort of that power.
The card in teractions reveal more personal information on the Buccai but mostly one there personality and their motivations, like the conservation has the most interesting voice line.
When it comes to blood magic (and potentially the growing thing) it could have something to do with the celestials and the power of the sun disc. Soraka being a celestial may have had a hand in the creation/planning of the sun disc and thus explaining it's ability to restore life like when Nasus was dying and the rivers that flowed through Shurima. However after being corrupted by the void this life magic would be twisted and become blood magic. Nasus, being the smart guy he is, may also know this and also altered it to steal souls.
Hi, Necrit! Will you cover the interactions between champions/other cards in LoR? I'd like to watch your opinion and reactions to them xd I personally enjoyed Sivir's interactions, some of them made me laugh really hard XD
would be nice to get a Baccai as a champion. Not sure how they would implemented into the larger story though. maybe they could be chasing someone who managed to steal from a tomb? Unable to bear the shame of failure on top of being a Baccai, they go in search of the thief.
There is a quote in lor when they both level up to level 3 they both say that they are teaming up vs an enemy. I don’t know if this is just for in game or lore related
Maybe the twin headed guardian is an avatar of kindred, i too thought they were were kindred when i first heard their quotes, but they speak more like judjed than reapers. Maybe is an entity that judjes the souls killed by kindred before sending them to the other side?
I like your theory of ascended growing bigger... that marries with the theory of watchers mirroring their creature (void ones) into living beings on Runeterra... therefore chogath grows bigger and bigger.
I think the Conservator's quote of '' We are where both gods and men find their end.'' refers to 2 things 1 is men who are trying get in the thombs and steal and die trying. and other is god-warriors who die in battle(since they cant die with old age) so they are burried there with in thomb the Conservator protects. and this is the only Baccai where we know a god-warrior may have burriered. in any other card it is simply another thomb with not much details. BUT that is just my thinking .
I can see the mistransformation in some of the bakai, but the hyena one? Like, dafak dude, you are basically an ascended, what did not get fully transformed? The pinky finger?
Regarding their size, while I do agree it is an ability of the Ascended, I don't think they necessarily need a catalyst for their growth (e.g blood drained from the slain in Aatrox's case or souls for Nasus). Remember in Renekton's recent story, he didnt need any of that to enlarge himself. It's like he just pressed R and it happened. This seems to be a form they take to utilize their maximum power.
The interactions of the cards are a good source of lore and great characterization overall, and while many of them falls under the "what if" case, we do learn things from them. The Baccais seems to be accepting of their fate as a whole, but the way they deal with it varies a lot. Nasus looks like he assume the role of caretaker or leader for them, as the Rampaging Baccai asks him what will become of them in the reborn Shurima.
For renekton becoming bigger it might have to do with his rage. Nasus's theme is knowledge about life and death allowing him to use souls. Renektons theme is his rage and hate towards Nasus. It makes sence for what activates that magic.
Another small detail that people aren't mentioning is that in SR when nasus and rene use their R they also get a small amount of damage around them, so maybe your theory of "soul siphon" is right
I want a new champion that is an ascendant, or even a baccai, that could have some interesting interactions with the other ascendeds already on the rift.
I’m kinda curious about the masked mother and fallen idol, I know you covered it in shadow isles vid but they kinda look like baccai to me🤔 especially the sand spinner and the soul spinner being so similar
Makes me wonder if... like azir... a baccai could be redeemed. That would be an interesting theme for a champion. A baccai would be a pretty cool champ seeing as you could go anywhete for it.
I think there's a difference between the Conservator's judgement and the Curator's judgement, as Nasus is the Curator of the Sands, while the Baccai is the conservator. I point this out because of the spell, Weight of Judgement, which pictures nasus. I think there's a connection between the two, but i'm just not sure what it is exactly
also dont forget that removed quote from Viego upon him facing ryze: "I know you, Ryze. Yes, you opened the way to the waters." the theory that this happens in the Ruined King game and Ryze could have transported some of the waters from Shurima to Shadow Isles since he did visit Shurima at some point so he would know the waters there, also this quote was in the game at some point on pbe because Viego was supposed to be released with the game itself so thats why this quote was made for the game.
Hey necrit i have a strange question but i cant stop thinking of it. Is everyone who climbs targon getting an aspect? If yes could someone like azir climb it and also get a aspect or are the ascended already blessed with a aspect?
