Hello and welcome to The AceDestroyer! Thanks for tuning in! This video is about the objectives of Sturmgruppe Granit in their assault on the famous fortress of Eben Emael. I'll also go over the composition. How did they manage to assault the fortress, who did it and who was tasked to do what. Find out more in this video. The battle itself is for another video. When I will shoot at the fortress itself.

@@Laudrengen, Yes well, when I made this video I had made plans to go there on a trip during the holidays (Summer 2018), but the plans changed I went to Arras and the Somme instead. It is still on the to-do list though, but now, I don't know when I shall visit it. On the plus side, I have my driving license now, so if I am in the area, I can always stop by.

We visited the fort last week and were very impressed. Especially the poor Belgian soldiers who didn't made a chance against the elite paratroopers. What an impressive attack ! Our father was then a 19-year old farmhand who was enlisted in the Belgian army. He was stationed around the city of Liège and on 12th may he was taken prisoner near the village of Hannut. He was taken ot Fallingbostel and put to work on farms there. But already in september 1940 he was released with a lot of other Flemish soldiers -they had to sign a kind of promise that they wouldn't take up arms against Germany again.

Yeah I know, when I made this video I had planned to go to Eben-Emael, but something else came up instead. I need to visit the fortress during a weekend or holiday period as it's too far to drive to for just one day.

There will, but at the time of making this video, I was also planning to go Eben-Emael. However, the weekend had to be postponed, and I ended up going to other places in stead. the Vroenhoven, Eben-Emael area is certainly on my to-visit list, but I don't know when (in fact, every trip is uncertain with this ghastly virus).
