If Benoit went to the ppv after killing his family, it would have irreparably damaged the wrestling business more than we can even comprehend

I agree with you, along with a lot of different people who have said the same thing in the past. It doesn't matter how great of a wrestler Chris Benoit was, the fact of the matter is that he's a murderer which will forever overshadow everything he had ever done in his wrestling career up to that point.

I like what JR says best about this it's like Benoit in a sound mind himself would say "Don't put me in the Hall of Fame" I think people don't get that what he did goes beyond simply just his character never being mentioned again and that this would be the case for any superstar, if Austin, Rock or Shawn Michaels did this they would be erased just as quickly. I don't like people on either end condemning or overpraising Benoit cause they didn't know him or the situation well enough. The best thing people need to do it appreciate the small tributes WWE does subtly do like the WM30 match and the people he helped elevate in WWE and also not believe he was a hero like anyone, he was a human being and what happened cannot be forgotten and forgiven to many and should not and that's ok. Still R.I.P to all three of them.

@@RaytheGrayt I agree, no way should Benoit EVER be acknowledged by the WWE again. Vince McMahon was right to stop mentioning his name, Paul Heyman said it best : "Benoit had a choice to die and Nancy and Daniel did not, so f**k him".

As grim as it sounds. If only Chris Benoit had died of natural causes due to his heart condition before he went off the deep end. Today... We would be hearing nothing but tributes from not only from fans and peers, but his surviving wife Nancy and son Daniel. Speaking of which... I can imagine a now fully grown Daniel Benoit getting ready to start his wrestling career. Following in his father's footsteps. Continuing the family tradition. Oh! What might have been.

To give them a tiny tiny benefit, it is extremely hard as a fan to know a wrestler who you grew up watching could do something so terrible to their own family. I think trying to completely erase him is causing all this nostalgia though, they should just put his matches on the network but not make him searchable. Hiding his work away like it's a dirty little secret is causing people to "miss" him and turn him into a mythical figure in the business. Maybe it would give people a chance to reconcile and let the myth of his career go. It's important to remember that even though his life choices led to it, his brain was horribly damaged and the man needed help, and I imagine there were many signs that people just ignored. He should never go into the HOF, but at the same time he shouldn't just be swept under the rug.
@jerelminter
@jerelminter 3 года назад
Yes I agree, some people try to separate the wrestler with the person in real life, and you can't do that because the real Benoit was the one who killed his family and by killing himself, he erased Chris Benoit the wrestler from existence too.

The one good thing to come out of the Benoit Tragedy besides the tightening of the Wellness Policy was that it _really_ shone a light on the severity of concussions and brain damage not just in WWE, but I think in sports in general. Because if Benoit got so messed up a 'fake sport' then it didn't bode well for 'real' athletes either. *EDIT:* Solomonster, it was Nancy Disgrace who had that list. She also embarrassed DDP in an interview on her show by asking him about steroids. Having Owen's name on that list, I remember, pissed off _a lot_ of people.

June 25th is truly a dark day in many ways. Not only is that date where Chris Benoit and his family were found dead but it’s the same day when Michael Jackson passed away in 2009 and when Etika was found dead in 2019. 😢😢 Chris Benoit’s death and the facts surrounding it made my father go from sadness to anger, Michael Jackson’s death crushed my mom’s heart since she loved his music so long as her listening to them for the first time happened when he first came to America and Etika’s death broke my heart since it was one of my favorite RU-vidrs and I got to meet him a few months before his death. One small thing that I hoped Solomonster would’ve added as told by the recently deceased New Jack was that on the final day after beating/killing his wife and murdering his own son, Benoit went to go hang himself with the cable tower he had in his house and before he did he made sure to put a towel underneath his neck so that if hanging himself didn’t work, it wouldn’t leave a scar/laceration on his neck and it wouldn’t look like he tried to kill himself. This just shows how selfish and self-absorbed Benoit was in his current state of mind that weekend but he was still a sensible person and definitely knew what he was doing.

Dunn was probably telling the truth to J.R., but when it got back to Vince he changed his mind and decided it was a good idea to flip announcers around. That was after all also the beginning of the Vince flip-flopping and changing his mind right before the show era...that still has never ended and has only gotten worse.

I can't even imagine what would happen to WWE if Benwah did wrestle after the death of his family was found out. It would be worse than Eddiesploitation. I still can't believe people would still like Benwah to be placed in a glorified WWE induction that's only a PR move.

Whenever someone asked me what dead wrestler I would bring back I always say Chris Benoit, because if I bring Chris back Nancy and Daniel come back too.

@@JohnKobaRuddy then how does it work?
@paoerfulone1089
@paoerfulone1089 3 года назад
@@josephnicolino8529 A) Because Nancy and Daniel were already dead before Benoit already decided to kill himself. So bringing him back wouldn’t change that. B) Instead of simply bringing someone back, the question should be “Who’s death do you wish you could have prevented?” And in regards to this, the answer should be Eddie Guerrero. When Eddie died, that broke Benoit beyond repair. It absolutely destroyed him. That was his best friend, his brother, his dearest companion. They spent more time together probably then they did with each of their families. Chris Benoit LOVED Eddie Guerrero. He was already having some issues before Eddie’s death, but when Eddie died, that was the point of no return. I truly, honest to God, believe that if Eddie was still alive, Chris, Nancy, and Daniel would all still be alive as well.

He’s a scumbag! Plains and simple. And for years he wasn’t exactly a stand up person. It’s just a pity he didn’t take just himself out of that’s how he felt. If their is a hell he is most certainly in it. And rightly so. Great wrestler terrible being. I refuse to call him human

Listen...the reason why its suggested Benoit should be in the hall of fame is because you cannot reflect on the great history of pro wrestling, the glory days of wrestling or great careers in wrestling without talking about Chris Benoit. WWE erased his history with the company which is a joke. Despite what he did, you cannot talk pro wrestling without talking about Benoit.
