Hey Dive fans & welcome to a different kind of episode for The Dive. Azael is recovering after a procedure & Kobe is out sick so the LCS Lounge - Raz, Emily, Jatt & of course Mark - crashed The Dive this week to chat All-Pro & playoff matches. Also they're in a swanky lounge to compliment the name.

MarkZ pulling up the stats made me favor Berserker for MVP. Prince was the best in the first half but Berserker kept his stats consistently great the whole split.

Berserker was maybe better overall but Prince is for sure MVP. Berserker plays on a team where all of the players are top 2 in their positions, Berserker does not. And after the first 18 games, the teams finished tied. C9 without Berserker (replaced with some mid-tier ADC like Luger) is still very likely a top 2 team in the league, FLY with the same would be like GGS tier competing for playoffs. Imo you just can’t be MVP on a team with that many best-in-slot players unless you go extremely dominant like 17-1 or 18-0, not 14-4 which is on the lower end for #1 teams. And it’s totally OK to have one player be MVP while another takes 1st team all-pro, for example DoinB took MVP in Summer 2021 while Knight took 1st team all-pro, because Knight was individually the best mid and an insane laner/consistent carry, while FPX without Doinb hard-carrying literally couldn’t win games

EMENES played 10 games this split, last spring CoreJJ played 11 games. Voting for Spring 2022: Emily- CoreJJ 1st Team All Pro Markz - CoreJJ 1st Team All Pro Kobe - CoreJJ 1st Team All pro Azael - CoreJJ 1st Team All pro Jatt - CoreJJ 2nd Team All Pro Raz - CoreJJ 2nd Team All Pro Feels like a double standard to me to omit EMENES for having 1 less game. Core's spring wasn't some amazing 1v9 support gap every game type performance.

All of the LCS content this year has been so outstanding, really impressive. Already enjoyed the lcs content, but now it feels leagues ahead of the competition. Especially all the new stuff Marks been doing, always a blast to watch. We might get 7th at MSI, but were #1 in content.

Horrible take even if the conclusion is correct. Esports fans watch professionals play League for the same reason normal sports fans watch professional sports. To see the highest possible level of competition. Most gamers are going to consume their entertainment online and are a part of internet culture. Riot trying to be traditionally professional (I.E. as close as possible to a traditional sports broadcast) appeals to the wrong crowd, that's all. It doesn't have anything to do with 'kids playing video games competively'.

Mark and Emily are the greatest of all time. Always love their analysis and insights. Emenes definitely best mid laner so far. Gori is great, just needs a top laner. CLG generally lose because Dhokla loss condition. Busio looks like one of the brightest prospects LCS has had in a long time due to being so strong both offensively and defensively. FLY need Winsome back because Eyla is consistently out of position and plays much more defensively which affects all of FLY. Berserker has been one of the best adcs NA has had in a long time.

jatt having jojo as a top 3 mid this split is beyond delusional. I think he’s in a sophomore slump/not sure how sick he really is from covid but he’s absolutely sprinted many games this split. @@Faith2202 in Jatt's defense, the "feel test" is necessary because NA is a fucking clownfiesta region post Worlds last year. Even the undisputed best teams -- Flyquest and C9 -- absolutely threw games against lower teams that they should have crushed. It's been an entertaining split because everyone has been sloppy and unpredictable. But that means there's no definitive best player in the crucial mid position. It's indicative of a regional weakness -- trying to pick the best out of obviously underperforming players is a bad discussion to have.

Great interview. One thing - they said here that Closer is known for his play-off buffs. DL and Bjerg are definitely the same but better in that regard. Bjerg and DL's entire careers have been built on insane play-off buffs.

@@jonjones8827 also playoffs was when DL actually started playing well lmao. DL's Senna went legendary against TL in 2020 playoffs. Some Bjerg fans just can't get past the "Bjerg and 4 wards" mentality so they blame any underperformance on literally anyone but Bjerg. Bjerg is a good shot caller and very flexible, but it's actually been like *years* (like 2018) since he's been really hard carrying teams. 2019 TSM missed playoffs and missed Worlds even with Zven/Mithy bot. 2020 TSM had BB (now on G2), Spica (now on FQ), Bjerg, DL, and Bio/Treatz. That team was kinda stacked by LCS standards (support was the one role they didn't really come to a satisfactory place on). 2021 Bjerg was retired and coaching. 2022 Bjerg was having a noticeably rough season on TL and missed Worlds.

i know this gets said every year about NA and then they shit the bed intl but i feel like there were actually 4-5 good players at every role this split. normally this is not the case for support/top/mid especially but id argue our mid pool is actually solid. top and support are fine but def better than usual. and ADC was wild genuinely 5-7 respectable ADs, and 4 respectable junglers.

I think that those 4-5 good players must be in the same team for NA to succed. Other leagues are extremely top heavy, Korea has 1-4 clearly above the league teams (T1 obviously a step above, GenG, KT and D+), same as EU with G2 and probably VIT (even though they've been running it down lately) and China also with 1-3 above of the league teams (EDG, LNG and JDG) . So to beat those top heavy teams you need 1 or 2 teams that are really above the competition to have a chance. When they say EU was good in 2018-2019, thats not true, during that time only Fnatic and G2 were good, the rest of the teams were really average which made the season predictible but gave them chances internationally.

@@123rtXd I think the issue with Fudge is we have seen him run it down in lane. C9 win in the end so it's glossed a lot. Fudge you could argue #2/3. A lot of times C9 have now won their games off of Emenes diff or berserker in team fights. Rarely have had the 2022 playoff games where the game has been decided off of 2v2 top side.

i think you guys miss on one important point, consider the worst case scenario that double and busio are worse worse than prince and eyla, does it mean they lose bot?no because playing bot is the combination of adc+support and in these recent weeks we have seen more synergy from 100t bot than fly quest which honestly has been going on a slump. To not even mention the recent teamfights of flyquest and the C9 game which definitely harmed their confidence with berserker completely going rampage on prince and eyla.

like tenacity a lot but i don't think he's near third this split. he was really underwhelming in lane across the board, never really proved he could carry on carry-picks and while he did absolutely find a role, he still had some bad TPs, weak laning, shallow champion pool (that he can win games on). he's probably 5th or sixth behind Dhokla/Ssumday. He had one good fiora game in teamfighting but I think next split if he sticks to this playstyle though he could deserve 2nd or 3rd for sure.

It's hard to rank mid not because of quality candidates but because of how bad they were. - Vicla inted - Bjergsen walking meme - Gori (def should get in) - Emenes (low number of games played) - Jojo inted Top 3 will be interesting. It's basically the best of the worst. Hard to argue not giving it to the top players on the best team sans emenes.

I love Jojo, but if he's in top 3, something is seriously wrong. This split has been disastrous for him specifically. And they're talking about him playing with Covid, but he had PLENTY of sprinting games in the first half. I feel like I'm just watching different EG games than the analysts. Edit: A side note. I have never disagreed with Jatt so much. Usually I'm on the same page as him with almost everything
