Not going to lie, a few weeks ago I binge-watched several of your videos to find a better air purifier, and you sold me on the Winix on the second video (but I kept watching). Its performance beats the pants off of my Dyson PureCool TP02 (yes, I watched that video too). As a household with 3 dogs, therefore with hair flying all around the place constantly (despite vacuuming daily) I can't thank you enough for your analysis of these different brand air purifiers. Keep up the good work and I hope to see more reviews soon!

Allergens from pets are mentioned. What about litter box odors? Does the Winnix eliminate litter box odors? I want to get an air purifier for my cat room that contains many litter boxes. Thanks

If I'm understanding your question correctly, I recommend putting an air purifier in all living spaces - i.e. all the spaces where you're spending the most time every day. Top rated units (like the Winix and Coway) are portable enough to easily be moved from a living room in the day to a bedroom at night.

The 200M is essentially identical to the Mighty (the Coway I have on the table in this video), other than having a different front grille and the ability to turn certain LED illumination off. And so most of what I say about the Mighty also applies to the 200M. do you have the fellows aeramax dx95 or the meacoclean 119 in your country as i would love reviews of either.i own a dx95 and it is uncomfortable to hear on anything other than the lowest settings.i have found db levels for the winix that you have in the video and on the meaco at all settings,there are both very similar.my dx95 just says less than 40 on its lowest setting.the meaco does claim 595 airflow against the winix of 330.i would buy either if i knew they were more quite than my dx95 on all setting.they are all true hepa so at least i know they clean well but because of the noise mine runs 24/7 on auto to make it bearable.i am in the uk by the way,thanks for your time

the potential problem with meacoclean is that you can't turn off an ioniser in some models. i also heard that 119 is going to be discontinued soon. winix zero and zero pro models look like really good options.

I haven't had a chance to test the Oreck XL. Important specifications like CFM/CADR aren't readily available online for it either. And so, at least for now, I can't really comment on it.

The HR900 is an altogether different model. It comes with an extra "pet" filter that has to be replaced at cost and really doesn't add much to the filtration capabilities of the air purifier.

The HR900 does come with an extra "pet" filter but it has to be replaced at cost and really doesn't add much to the filtration capabilities of the air purifier. The filters on the Coway Mighty and especially the Winix 5500-2 are more than sufficient for homes with pets.

@@consumer-analysis The pet filter (Winix U) fits several models of Winix air purifiers including the 5500-2. The main feature that the HR900 has that the 5500-2 lacks is a dust or particulate sensor. Some people claim that these sensors are not particularly accurate in any case, and they require cleaning... The U filters cost around $20 for a 12 pack, one per month.

Can you expand on your question? Do you mean a smart unit, a unit with a "pet" setting, or a unit with a timer, auto modes, etc. ?

@@consumer-analysis I set my Dyson to run at higher speed during day and lower speed at night and then at midnight on auto. I bought 3 Winix and have them running on level 3,. Bedroom one runs on auto.

It looks like it doesn't use a true HEPA filter so I am highly unlikely to recommend it even if I do end up reviewing it.

Was thinking this too! I was looking at the Medify ma 40 but there aren't any good reviews (on youtube) so I feel like it'd be safer to go with the Winix 5500-2 *shrug* I feel like at this point I mainly only trust what Consumer Analysis says lol

Looks like winix is a top pick in general. Just ordered 3 of them. Had some doubts after seeing a couple people in the reviews talking about the plasma wave killing their pets because of ozone, and some other people saying stuff about it being dangerous. But it appears they are paranoid. If it was true it wouldn’t be on the market and one of the best. It would have been detected. If not, we’ll, maybe I’ll be one of those people that gets a huge check on down the road.

@@bluenoodles2640 - I have no regrets. I keep a real clean house. Every week or 2 there’s a lot of stuff it catches. Who knows it can be all in my head but it seems like I can breathe better since having them. As far as the stuff I heard about the plasma wave thing being bad for pets, well I don’t have pets. But there is a button to keep it off. I got 2 of the purifiers down stairs and keep plasma wave on one of them and off for the other. The one in my room I just have it on 50% of the time. My main thing was catching all the dust and such floating around and it obviously is doing great with that.

The 5500-2 is the better option. The extra "pet" filter on the HR900 acts as an additional pre-filter but you already have a washable pre-filter on the 5500-2. Not to mention the fact that the extra filter has to be replaced at cost.

Not according to CARB. It might be if you have pet birds, or are particularly sensitive to ozone. These units emit such small amounts of ozone that you will not be able to detect it with any reasonably priced sensor. The Winix units sold exclusively by Home Depot do not emit ozone. They are purely mechanical units. That is one option.

You can. But, if you restart the unit in auto mode, the plasmawave will be on, and you will have to turn it off again. Not a big deal, but might excite some people's OCD.

Even with all of the new models on the market, I still recommend the Winix 5500-2 and Coway Mighty as the best air purifiers for most people. If this changes I'll definitely make a new "Best air purifier" video.

The Winix produces Ozone, which is lethal to pets, and humans. How much are they paying you?

The units I recommend can only release ozone with their ionizers turned on. And this feature can easily be turned off and left off. Though even with it turned on both the Winix and Coway are still completely safe to use: ww2.arb.ca.gov/our-work/programs/air-cleaners-ozone-products/california-certified-air-cleaning-devices
