I think what would've elevated The Angels Take Manhattan more was if there was a sudden disaster - the angels temporarily blind New York to try and convert the entire city into their farm. Maybe they release 'angel dust' or something into the air and the citizens get it in their eyes. That would've raised the stakes and allowed the Statue of Liberty to rampage believably.

I think what most people don’t get with Amy and Rory is that New York isn’t the problem. Amy and Rory are the anomaly. They weren’t supposed to be there and now they HAVE to be there. They became a fixed point always destined to return to the moment of their death. Kinda like Clara actually but Clara isn’t time locked.

Amy and Rory were already talking about moving on from life with the doctor and settling down. And Amy choosing to stay with Rory probably made the doctor realise that they just needed to be with each other so he didn’t push to still be in their lives. But the constant footsteps of the MASSIVE Statue of Liberty walking across New York makes you think…was no one watching? 😂

a bit off topic but "don't tease the answers if were never going to get them" is also my issue with 73 Yards, although I do like that episode quite a bit regardless because of how much it does right

The grand serpent was a tool used to fix continuity errors from original who. Chibnall single handedly fixed the brigadiers timeline with that. And then canonized the Morbius Doctors. Ive noticed the less classic a person has seen, the less they can tolerate the Chibnall era

Stolen Earth, Journey's End is my favorite. Sarah Jane is my favorite companion ever and she was amazing in this. And Davros' speech about destruction of reality itself, always gives me chills.

My thoughts on the new who season endings: Series 1: Good Series 2: Great Series 3: Perfect Series 4: THE GOAT Tennant Special: Perfect Series 5: Good Series 6: Good Series 7: Ok Smith Special: Great Series 8: Ok Series 9: Ok Capaldi Special: Very Good Series 10: Ok Capaldi Regeneration: Very Good Series 11: Bad Series 12: Ok ish 13/Flux: Ok 14: Bad Tennant Return: Great Season 1: Hopefully it will be Great!

My favourite series finale so far has been the Stolen Earth/Journey’s End. It’s a truly epic story in my opinion. My least favourite is easily Hell Bent because of how they waste the potential of bringing back Gallifrey by once again putting all the focus on Clara. Think the Season 1 finale will be great due to the potential intensity we’ll experience.

I would put Army Of Ghosts and Doomsday in the 'GREAT' category! I would only have one in the 'BEST STORY EVER TOLD' and that would be The Stolen Earth and Journeys End! I would put Bad Wolf and The Parting Of The Ways in the 'ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC' category.

If you are going to consider giggle as a finale, I almost feel that you should also consider two part Christmas special/New Year’s special (the end of time) and perhaps every Christmas special that resolve a cliffhanger as part of season finales… I would put the end of time at the top of the list and I would put the day of the doctor and the power of the doctor at great or higher… twice upon a time should be under absolutely fantastic… The reason why I would include these Christmas specials is because there are many Christmas specials that seem to stand on their own and then there’s ones that seem to complete the season and I would include anything that feels like it completes the season… on that note I probably would include last Christmas and give it the highest rating possible… and having said that it reminded me of a theory that my wife had about Chris Waittes and the carolers referring to Saint Nicholas as the one who waits and that what the toy maker and the maestro were afraid of was something that was too good that they perceived as horrible… Probably too on the nose… Nevertheless, wouldn’t it be an amazing surprise if the one who waits is good and not evil… Just too good for the big bads to accept.. also would be a wonderful excuse to bring Nick Frost back to the series… I think you’re probably right though… It’s gotta be Suetekh or omega… And if the third incarnation enemy rumor was true, maybe it’s even Azal from the Daemons…

I would have counted Power of the Doctor too which would go in 'Great', but otherwise I agree with most of the placings. Matts finales were mostly weak despite it being my favourite era of New Who. I'm mostly a classic series guy with Troughton, Pertwee and Tom being my equal favourites , hence probabaly why Smith and Capaldi are favourites of the reboot as they recapture a lot of that.

BIG disagree on Hell Bent - the whole point IS that the Doctor is wrong to bring Clara back. I see it as a meta-commentary from Moffat on his own tendency to resurrect dead characters. He's telling himself he needs to stop doing this. And it wasn't Moffat who wasted Gallifrey IMO. Hell Bent finishes what the 50th started by tying up the loose Gallifrey plot threads like Rassilon - it's not meant to be the full payoff to the 50th's setup, as I see it, but the completion/rest of that setup. It's bringing Gallifrey back to the universe and wiping the slate clean for the next showrunner to tell their own story with it (bear in mind Moffat thought Series 9 would be his last). It was Chibnall who wasted Gallifrey by destroying it again instead of actually making use of it. And if he didn't want to use it, he could've written it out of the show in a different way so that a later showrunner COULD use it (without having to repeat the whole "return of Gallifrey" thing the 50th already did).

95% agree, except I really disliked the Name of the Doctor, sorry - for me, it was Moffat raisinf the stakes too high (again), retconning the show when Clara steps into the timestream, and leaving on a cliffhanger that doesn't get resolved - again I'm sorry, but even my own mum refuses to accept it as canon lol

Journey's end by far. It's the closest Doctor Who got to Avengers Endgame style cast. Having SJS, Torchwood and all the spinoffs at the time come together in the Tardis at once was glorious. really made it emotional when you have all the support crew band together like they would if there was a world-ending event.
